KGB spies pose as a married couple in suburban Washington, D.C. during the Reagan administration. Watch the complete FX Original Series The Americans now. Only on Hulu.

Co-starring Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys, “The Americans'' is a period drama about the complex marriage of two KGB spies posing as Americans in suburban Washington, D.C., during the Reagan administration. The arranged marriage of Philip and Elizabeth Jennings grows more passionate and genuine by the day, but as the pressures and demands of the job grow heavier, the personal toll becomes almost too exhausting to bear, especially when it comes to protecting their American-born children, Paige and Henry. They also face the risk of discovery by their friend and neighbor FBI agent Stan Beeman, who is tasked with uncovering Soviet illegals hiding in plain sight.

The Americans should have had a spin-off or at least just one 10min 'five years later' clip of those two in Sowjet-Russia and daughter a spy, son going to a chess tournament in Moscow. Yes, you and I could write a script until now Ukraine. But still worth watching this clip and the memories off the scenes.

I have the series on DVD. The first few seasons were brilliant. Then once Paige...... it started to get a bit screwy. There were parts in the characters and plot that were too illogical...... surely you would look around and say to yourself that this is a better lifestyle. The idea that these people never knew about current life inside Russia was ludicrous.
@jacquesmesrine8031
@jacquesmesrine8031 Жыл бұрын
@@andrewsmith8729 that's your opinion I guess. The whole show is actually flawless and it's quite the opposite of what you said; the first seasons are excellent but quite easy to grasp, not challenging the viewer much apart from the fact that you need to do your research about the way the KGB actually interacted with each other etc (calling themselves by name and surname to put an example). Then you talk about the Page subplot and how you were not impressed by it when I find it hard to find scenes like the one with her and her parents in the red room and the photographs ,with "slice of life" by Bauhaus as soundtrack. Absolutely mesmerising. And to finish, I wonder why you find hard to understand that they truly didn't know much about "home" as they truly couldn't research, nor communicate with Russians apart from Claudia let alone travelling there . Also, they were TRULY BUSY all day. I swear I can't find a single plot hole in the whole show; the scripts are delivered masterfully and with a coherence that is only respected nowadays by Nolan, Fincher and Vince Gilligan. I'd recommend you to re watch it and pay special attention to the photography. Just for that, this show is up there with The Wire, Mindhunter, Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad. A step above Ozark or Bloodline

"One of the greatest dramas in television history" 100%. If you're having second thoughts about watching this show, please don't. This is honestly one of the most meaningful shows ever made, and it instantly became one of my top 3 shows of all time. It's just that good. Beside Joe MacMillan from Halt and Catch Fire, Philip Jennings from The Americans is one the best TV characters of all time, in my opinion.

I just finished this series last night. I'm just devastated by the entire experience. I can't even put into words how fantastic the entire thing was. The acting by all, was incredible, and just moving, to the core. The writing, so tight, that every episode just wound the experience tighter and tighter. It was gut wrenching, and heart breaking, and just unbelievable. I remember seeing the first episode back in 2013 or so, when it aired, but I didn't know it had become a series...I'm not sure why. It's gonna take a few weeks to process this whole experience, and I can't thank everyone involved, enough. One, if not, THE greatest TV series of all time. I literally want to write to each of the actors, and thank them for just destroying me!!

As a viewer I agree with you. However, as a fan and given that Joe Weisberg can actually write with the pace of Chuck Palahniuk, a spin off of the 2 kids would be to die for. The two siblings facing each other with Henry having been mentored by Stan while Paige literally sabotaging the country over and over so they elect clowns like Trump etc. Itd be unbelievable

I'm not sure how or why I had NEVER heard of this series when it originally ran, or how I accidentally discovered it without any tips from other people. However, I'm glad about that now as I was able to binge watch the entire series in a matter of a few weeks with only the occasional need to, oh I don't know, sleep? work a bit? talk to my family here and there... I seriously could not stop watching! I had a few rough days of work from sleep deprivation as I would watch till 4am sometimes! First I love historical fiction so this was right up my alley! From the minute Phillip and Stan became neighbors, I was all in. Their friendship seemed so genuine that it was easy to forget what a horrific lie that Phillip was living. Such a compelling story. And I could identify with the daughter Paige as she was about the same age as I was at that time in the 80's. I loved the opening scene with the chase to capture that Russian agent and Fleetwood Mac's "Tusk" playing in the background, which happens to be right around the exact time that I remember that song being popular. And the series finale.... wow! So emotional. I had no idea who to be routing for at the end. The scene with Stan confronting the Jennings family in the parking garage was epic! I watched it many times over. My heart broke each time! And what better song to capture the mood of the following scenes than Dire Straits' "Brothers in Arms", a song that I had almost forgotten about over the decades. By the way, I am not someone who takes a lot of time to write reviews, so I'm not sure why I felt the need to go on and on about this series, but I hope it convinces someone else like me to watch it! Oh, and Kerri Russell.... wow! Killer body and she certainly knows how to use it!
