The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1998 and you can understand why. Powerful voices that carried the Christmas spirit with no apologies. As most of you know, Ed Ames would become a successful solo singer in the 60s as well as an actor. He remains the only living member. A virtual hug to him for a lifetime of solid entertainment.

As a kid, I knew Ed Ames as Mingo on the TV series _Daniel Boone._ It blew my mind when I learned that he was one of the singing Ames Brothers! A talented man from a talented family quartet. These brothers had four distinct voices that blended in perfect harmony. Thanks for posting!

Maybe cuz I like him the most but Ed ames’ voice always stands out to me mind you they all 4 are superb singers and I love to listen to them but… saw him first on Daniel Boone and only him for a long time saw them mostly on utube but thank you for showing/sharing their voices as well

Joe. The oldest of the brothers. He had opera training; auditioned for the Metropolitan Opera before singing with his brothers. Joe: 5 - 3 - 1921 - 12 - 22 - 2007 - Cause of death: Heart Attack. Bass. Gene: 2 - 13 - 1923 - 4 - 26 - 1997 - Cause of death: Cancer. Second Tenor. Vic: 5 - 20 - 1925 - 1 - 23 - 1978 - Cause of death: Car Accident - Died of internal injuries a few hours later, First Tenor. Ed: 7 - 9 - 1927 - 5 - 21 - 2023 - Cause of death: Alzheimer's. Lead, Joe: 86 - Gene: 74 - Vic: 52 - Ed: 95.
