The Acropolis is home to some of the most recognisable landmarks of all Ancient History. This is a tour which takes us from the earliest days of Athens, under the Stone Age king Actaeus, through contests between Gods, the patronage of Athena, and on to the buildings which even predate the Parthenon. Learn how the rejection of Poseidon led to the construction of beautiful temples and statues. Learn the chronology of these buildings, as ancient ones give way to even more ancient ones, such as the Pre Parthenon and the Ur Parthenon - the Hekatompedos - which go way back to Archaic age.

As an avid lover of history, I've seen more and more history videos that are clearly AI generated or enhanced with poor writing and grammar or even incorrect facts. Your videos are such a breath of fresh air...Everything is well polished with proper introduction and writing and immersive to the viewer with Ancient Greek readings and great imagery. A work in progress! Might I ask, if you were to refer to standard schools of pronunciation, which would you say is the correct for Ancient Greek? I’ve tried a few over the years and have always heard criticism. As a Brit I take absolutely responsibility for a bad accent but would love to know how the Greeks pronounce their ancient language. I’m fairly familiar with your modern language’s pronunciation (I think!)

There is an exact 1 to 1 replica of the Parthenon, including a gold statue of Athena holding Nike, in Nashville, Tennessee. She is 42 feet tall. It's amazing!

the acropolis was built long before Mycenae and initially it was built for the soldiers to live there and it had a much larger area but as the ancient sources mention after great floods and a devastating earthquake this small part of it remained that exists from the archaic era until and today.

Acro-, acri-, or acra, all of them, in the beginning of the word mean: edge. The edge of the second part of the word. Acropolis = edge of the city, whether it is in the horizontal or vertical perspective. Acrokeramo= each one of the last line’s tiles of the roof, etc etc

Been to the great one in Athens. Stood where Napoleon and Hitler stood, my hands on the sane parapet wall where they were, near the remnantsvof the small temple. If I remember If I remember correctly, The Temple Of Athena!
