Nadiya + Adam - WOW. This was superb. THANK YOU for offering this. I've been following both of you for a few years. Nadiya, through your KZbin channel; Adam, through your written posts on your website + this past year, your videos on KZbin. I study astrology + I've never been able to grasp the ecliptic's energy + how it affects the 12-house system. This breakdown, Adam, made everything come into focus for me. The "grabbers", the "places", how the two different directions make up the archetypal energies that served as seeds for how we classify them, today. Fascinating. It does make sense to me, now. After learning this, I feel this understanding of the Ancient texts + philosophies is crucial to any budding astrologer. I study Horary as well, and the ancient rules set forth by Lilly made sense before...but now, I understand why planets "behave" a certain way. It has everything to do with the directions. Nadiya Shah Nadiya.. when you understand esoteric astrology (Alice Bailey and Master DK) .. that will be another lifetime. DK actually says he made it difficult so few can know until we are ready to absorb its meaning in the Aquarian Age. The one book on astrology is not the full story. It’s astro is distributed throughout the other 23 books.

I feel like this helped me understand astrology on a whole other level. I've been studying astrology for 7 years and I think this video really help me get deeper into it. I also feel like it really helped me understand my own chart because I have a some prominent placements in the 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th houses. Given the importance of the secondary motion, seems fair to assume a planet in retrograde motion changes how it is interpreted in a house/place. In that time it is aligned with the primary motion.

yes, although IMO planets moving along the zodiac are not looking to go into another house, just moving forward. If calculate own chart in whole sign houses and then a secondary chart for now from that (which will then have whole sign houses) one can see how important a progressed Ascendant sign change is, with the kind of house meanings described.

Hi Adam. Would you say that 6th house planets are enslaved by and suffer illness because of their attachment to the material plane as described by the secondary motion of the planets in the chart? In other words, they identify with and are in service to the secondary materialism rather than the primary, Divine motion? Thanks.

I just have to say, dealing with Nativities : First and foremost, whole signs precedes. Then we use a house system like placidus or regio (although I find placidus to be accurate) to calculate the house cusps, and the house cusps are then used to calculate lots and arabic parts. Planets should be read by whole sign house placement within nativities. The house cusps are not the beginning of the houses but a sensitive point placed within the house. In horary astrology though, this rule isn't so strict from what I've seen in the past so the whole signs/placidus overlay isn't as important in horary, for some reason.

This has been my dilemma going forward with Astro studies- I was introduced to astrology with Koch and have used it since then and can’t stand the houses with half one sign half another and am trying one house one sign but my moon has always so far until this year when I tried other house systems have been used to Scorpio in the 10th with a stellium of Mars/ Pluto & Uranus/Mercury in the 9th sun and Venus in 8 - Virgo sun and Cap rising - how do you get you mind in line with the changes after several years of seeing it one way and it making so much sense?

And in Koch I had planets in the 8th and I’ve had money left to me by an aunt and through my husband even though I had my own career that I loved and paid decent and I used to have Jupiter rx on the second but whole house now puts it in 3rd - oy this is hard I image there are just so many ways to make every that make sense to which is also hard for me

This might be a stretch but I thought of gift giving holidays when you were talking about the 7th house. I thought first of Santa Clause and how he only comes at night, delivering toys to kids who have been well behaved. Same with other mythical characters like the Easter Bunny or the tooth fairy or Leperchauns. I don’t know how to connect them there but just wanted to offer that.

The reality is the midheaven and 10th are two different things. Really it's not 10th house cusp. It's more like a point axis with the nadir, is that right? Just asking. Because when look at my campanus style chart my mid 10th house is ♉, in whole sign style chart my 10th house is Gemini and midheaven (♉)is in the 9th with Venus, sun ,south node and Mercury rx

I can't come to a decision or belief... This whole sign approach seems to make a lot of sense but there's no way my 12th house moon could be first house (moon 4° Gemini and ascendant 12° Gemini)

I totally agree with you. I have mars in the 12th house by the modern house systems and its in the 1st house whole sign system. My mars most definately has a 12th house quality... it doesn't function very well ..it splutters..it does n't function as mars should.. and it occassionally trips me up... asleep on duty..AWOL... It wants to act like a first house mars but I am forced to surrender control..and not be too attached to the result. I can recommend Tom Jacobs podcast on soundcloud.. re plantes in the 12th house

Interesting that just before I received your message I was thinking about Mars in the 12th house while I was in the shower (its a good place to think).. I am 54yrs old Sun in Libra. I have been studying astrology for a while but I still have a lot to learn and the art of interpretation obviously requires years of practice. What keeps me interested is in picking up gems of esoteric information that confirms behavioural patterns in my life. The progressed chart shows how progressed and transiting planets trigger events, and trends in the exterior world that impact the interior world of the native. The natal chart is the interior world and shows how the planets influence behavioural patterns. These influences remain over the course of the native’s life. I like Adams approach to Astrology because he sees it from a spiritual perspective. We are not totally bound. Knowing that the planets (Grabbers) have a certain influence on our behaviour, gives us the opportunity, the freedom not to be so influenced by them. Or at least be influenced in a positive spiritual way with humility.
