I once went up to Mayo Clinic, in Minnesota, and passed the exit to Wisconsin Dells. It didn’t even occur to me that we’d pass the place I’d dreamed about for so long. Yet, it was December, snowy, practically a blizzard really. It would be many more years before I actually got the visit.

I went a few times to the Wisconsin Dells as a child, the last time being 1974, I was 10 years old then. I didn't get back to the Dells until 2012, and things had changed quite a bit, gone were many of the things I remembered as a child, like Fort Dells, the Totem Tower, all the miniature golf places, go cart tracks, and much more. It is now all about Water Parks and such and is no longer the quaint get away place it once was. Sad to see a portion of my childhood made into something completely different.
@AdventureswithRoger9 күн бұрын
It all changes. Particularly in Indiana, many good attractions have closed because they just didn’t have the tourist flow. I’ve went to Gatlinburg several times, and it’s practically a different place every time! Wisconsin Dells was one of the places I wanted to see, on a long bucket list of classic attractions. Would like to go back to Rock City. I did make it to Disney World before they changed the Country Bear Jamboree, The Fountain of Youth at St Augustine, and Coral Castle. Hopefully I’ll make it out west.

Truly! I remember one time Mom and I were in southern Indiana, and we heard this flapping sound coming from the top of the car. It started to get a little more, until we heard a huge thud. I stopped the car and we got out to take a look. It was one of those GM fake rag tops, made to look fancy, and it’s totally came loose and all the way back. What was left was a thin layer of green glue. Instead of being upset, Mom looked at it and said, “It looks like a Chia pet!” We had a really good laugh about it! I ripped off the rest, and we went on with our day, can’t remember what we did to that car.

Thanks for the memories. My dad took us and our boat there when I was a kid; probably in the late 60s or early 70s. IN over to Hocking Hills, OH. Went mid week and really had a good time hiking the "rock canyons". Due to the dry summer there wasn't much to speak of in terms of water falls though. Safe travels & Merry Christmas to you and yours!

We found that if you get up early to hike the trails then mid-day go to some of the farther out areas you have to drive to. Never be afraid to tell them you love them, id like to think I'm a masculine guy, but I never hesitate to tell my loved ones that I love them. Here's a side bar about the Dells area. Serial Killer Ed Geins house wasn't far from the Dells and the establishment was pushing hard to level the entire property, because the two locations, were in a way becoming synonymous lol. I can't remember if Geins residence burned by arson, or petition, but it is gone now and it couldn't have burned soon enough. I watch every video you upload Roger, there are few channels that I can say this, good video as usual.
