Wow! I’m hooked to your videos. Thank you for remaining impartial and instead simply relaying the accounts while honouring both sides. That’s a rare trait amongst historians. Also love how forgotten warriors are remembered. Keep up the good work!

Amazing episode! I really enjoyed learning about the many different units; the NNC, mounted white units like the Newcastle Mounted Rifles, black units like Dunford's Basutos, and not least the 200 volunteers from the British infantry regiments to form mounted units!

@redcoathistory you're welcome mate. There are a lot of channels who sort of cover these subjects but I don't think I've ever seen any of these other channels actually go to these places and show us the very places these men fought and died for their own homeland all over the World or for our Country. 🇬🇧✌️

I’m an American history nut of largely English ancestry( the Richardson family comes from 14th century Cheshire England I believe)and I’m enamored right now with British imperial history. The Zulu war fascinates me. I really really wish someone( Ridley Scott perhaps?) would remake the 60’s film Zulu!
@markmooroolbark2524 жыл бұрын
This is brilliant! What an exciting discovery. I have an authentic Zulu shield handmade by a Zulu hanging on my wall. My brother travelled out to a remote property in South Africa to buy two from the man. They had to stay in quarantine for weeks before we finally got them. I treasure mine as my younger brother died not long after he gave me this gift. We fell in love with the Zulu warriors after seeing the movie, Zulu, as little boys.

@@redcoathistory yes exactly, not very well know but it is an extension of the Wars of 1879 and highlights the ambitiousness of the Zulu despite previous British success. Hopefully you’ll consider it at some point

Have you any videos on drummer boys killed in various battles by zulu,s ??
@redcoathistory4 жыл бұрын
I believe a few were killed at Isandlwana...from memory tho I think I read the term ‘boy’ is actually not accurate as I think all the drummer boys were actually men over 18.

I'm hooked but how about how marlborough took a small british army to that magnet that is Flanders. How this time it's the historic enemy which is France ! Well in history's crazed paving layers that patten a country's foes and allies. War which turn the soldiers life into pain with loss or victory. So how generals become their monarchs hero and the countrys required master of the British red coats.!
