I still have this vivid memory where I actually got one of his jam-a-grams, but I didn't open the gift. I logged out and went back in, and a gift that I'd won from the daily spin was there so I was forced to open it. I checked my mail and the jam-a-gram was gone, but I was still really scared, so I stopped for the day, but I never played again. 3-4 years later, my brother logs back into his old account and checks out mine. I still had my stuff, so I either got lucky, or it's still waiting. But it doesn't matter since I lost interest in the game :)

@pigeon One time in about 2015, I looked up one of the many users people were saying, iamforeverlost, and it said they had last been on over thirty days ago. I had the bright idea to go to their den. After a few seconds, they logged in and came to their den and said "you're next." then left. I was about nine and I was so scared, I went back to my den and immediately logged out, and I had to sleep in my parents' room. For some reason I never heard from them again. The thing is whenever I hear stories like this I assume it's a lie, and I want to think that the whole lost jammer thing was fake but I definitely remember my experience. I just really don't understand how they knew to log in while I was there since they hadn't been on in so long. Thoughts??

There was also a hacker known by the username "colorfulghost" around 2012-2013 who barely anyone that I've talked to remembers or even knows about at all. I'd love to know more about them. :) Basically the story goes, colorfulghost was the OG color hacker, you know the mud in Appondale, the lava in the Wolves Only Party, etc? They could change their wolf to any color and opacity of that sort on command (through third-party programs), and often showed that power off to other Jammers, which led to them getting banned. They could also give their wolf (also through third-party programs) roses, oranges, cake, moths, and other icons that could be obtained through clicking on an item and would appear at the top-right of their animal. They assumedly never hacked other players, though. Their wolf had a white and black coat and was named "Old Scaryghost". A few years later, after they got banned and the Animal Jam servers were cleansed of old accounts, AJHQ and many other players forgot about colorfulghost, as they were not well-known in the first place, and someone made an account with the same username to impersonate them. A couple of players noticed that the original colorfulghost had only one achievement, "Color Me Rad!". And that's the end of my knowledge of colorfulghost. I'm very interested in this hacker's story, though. Maybe someone could research and find out more..

I think the difference between the headdress and head feather items though is the headdress was based off of a war bonnet, which to native americans is very important and one must be worthy of wearing it. It is of great ceremonial importance, and thus it being available for purchase in a store by anyone would be incredibly inappropriate.

When I went to school in 2017, I had a teacher who had a daughter that played Animal Jam. I asked her if she could tell her daughter that I played the game and that I want to buddy her. I don't remember exactly what got us discussing hackers on Animal Jam, but she told me that she bought an Animal Jam toy for her daughter and her daughter put in the code the toy came with, and after a few hours, her daughter got hacked and had all of her items stolen? From the teacher's explanation, it was an official toy from the store. I don't know how true or accurate this is, but I still think about it whenever Animal Jam is brought up. I was also scared to enter in codes to toys after this, lol. If anyone else has had a similar experience like this, can you please tell me? I need to know if this can actually happen, or if the whole code thing was just a coincidence and the kid happened to do something else that got her hacked.

Yes, I also knew someone who had this happen to them. If you got an AJ toy in around 2015-2017, there was a group of hackers hacking promos out of people. Even if you had the promo off of your animal/Unequipped as a pet/Not on trade list or den. They could hack u out of it anyway.

Before the data breach was made public, I went in a buddy portal in a person's den and it lead to a den of a user called "databreach", but when I searched the username it said "That user doesn't exist!". Headresses were removed for cultural appropriation, at least thats what AJHQ told me when I tried to ask for a headdress when I got hacked years ago around the time they removed them. My theory, based on the fact they've removed items before in their entirety (see skullies, which btw I'm shocked they weren't on the iceberg, same with the beta animal jam site and how hyped it was seeing it on the wayback machine) is that they knew they had to keep headdresses in the game to manipulate the rarity system like said previously, and also knew a lot of people would be sad seeing headdresses gone considering they are the most if not second most popular item in the game.

I'm pretty sure AJHQ typically disables masterpieces for some people that mass create masterpieces, it should be only temporary though - I did touch on this on my video about 'hacked' mps a couple weeks back
