I really want to play Animal Jam Classic for nostalgia’s sake, but I hate how you can’t do ANYTHING without a membership. I don’t want to have to spend money just to do what would be the absolute bare minimum in other games like dressing up your characters or getting new avatars. Maybe I’m not looking far enough, and maybe I’m being unintentionally biased but it just doesn’t make for a fun experience for someone new or returning imo. 99% of shop items being locked behind a membership is probably my biggest complaint though, i know its been around since the beginning but walking into the coin clothing shop and then only 4 out of like 20 items are able to be purchased by nonmembers is such a whiplash to me

The community as a whole has changed and I think that might be the worst part of it all in my opinion. Nobody roleplays or hosts any kind of activities anymore and it's pretty uncommon to find people hosting any adventure that isnt the forgotten desert. I get that we were all younger when those things were popular but it's just really trade based now :(

If member or not, you could meet people, play all the minigames, buy stuff, have an igloo, a story (the agents one too, absolutely amazing) and events. Didn’t Club Penguin die, because of Disney just wanted to shut it down? This trading aspect of Animal Jam seems so boring and frustrating. Don’t know. Weird to me that so many people like this, but everyone has his own taste in things. Would have loved more events, story and games instead.

The Spanish-speaking community (including me) is against AJHQ because the ''Free Chat'' that is achieved by changing the parental control, censors words that we don't even know what is wrong, or better to speak directly with the normal chat. I'm just watching AJ videos for nostalgia, i don't play either of the games anymore. In 2022 my AJ Classic account got hacked, i lost my headdresses, spikes, pets, everything. All AJHQ said was "we are sorry but we can't help you" It made me sad, not only because i lost all the items i worked for, but because the hacker erased all my childhood memories, they deleted my jamaagrams, my friends, my animals. And the mods couldn't, or didn't wanted to help me in any way. In 2022 the game had already fallen down, most players were toxic and scamming was higher than ever, i don't even imagine how is it now. AJPW is pretty much the same, or even worse, as there is too much microtransactions. I really miss 2013-2015, the era were Animal Jam was about making friendships and learning about nature. Now it's about who got the most "rare" account.

Came back to the game this year after being inactive for a while and after a couple months of playing off and on I logged in one day to discover that my account had been hacked and every item I owned had been recycled. I contacted support and they refused to do anything until I threatened to cancel my membership. They then “compensated” me with like, 100 diamonds and a couple thousand gems. The whole experience really put a bad taste in my mouth about it animal jam as a whole which is really saddening because it’s a game that I’ve cherished for many years. (Sorry for rambling lol, this gets me really worked up)

I haven’t been apart of the Animal Jam community in so long. I would say around my childhood throughout my teen years was when I was last in the community. Throughout my experience, I would say the players and Animal Jam lack of excitement and security is what drove me away. The trading system is completely broken, how easy it is to get hacked, the amount of grown adults doing illegal things without any form of consequence (banning). There just so many things that brings genuine concern to me when playing this game. It just isn’t all that fun to me gameplay wise and community wise. I hate seeing a childhood game not doing great but I’m really not all that surprised. Great video, by the way! I agree with everything you’ve addressed. I hope to see Animal Jam eventually become popular as it used to be once more.

Oh yeah, this was something AJ did a few years ago to API limit and auto ban accounts because they were facing numerous raids by automated accounts, I do know some people that were affected by it did reach out and were unbanned so I do recommend trying it - can’t guarantee with how uncertain the support team is tho lol

I have been looking into ajc again but found myself into some odd issues. Even some odd content creators KZbin recommended me. I came across one who literally denied that they were doing “adult content” in ajc with a bit of a messed up thumbnail. The community part has not been the best. I played a lot from 2013-2019 and I only stopped after my entire IP got smacked with a permanent ban across all accounts in summer of 2019 (My main, my alts and my sister’s accounts). I managed to get in contact with support and speak to them myself (This was when you could call them) and they reinstated my main and nothing else, giving me a blue long collar and buddying me on the AJHQ account as an apology. I’m still not entirely sure why they did it but I didn’t play as much after because I realised I could lose all the stuff I worked for at any point in time. A shame, I grew up on this and it was one of my favourites as a child 🙁

Man, I used to play it with my sister when I was 6... When I was 7 my sisters account got hacked, she did not have an email linked,(this was before they required it to play the wild works version) (we played both at the time) so she could not recover it. I did not want to use my account either so I left it for about a year. Then I made a new one and transfered my old items to it (I had a school email) fast forward a couple of years I added my own email, then a month later i stoped playing. Have not been back to the classic version for about 2-3 years. Every few months I visit the mobile version (wild works).

I used to be hooked onto AJ when I was like, 13-14 years old. It was actually more calm and the item rarity was still high. When my membership ran out it basically became boring and it sucks. I almost lost my account after the big data leak that happened but I got it back and didn't lose anything. But looking back, I barely play it anymore because now everything is all for member now and non-members are left in the dust. So I just stopped playing all together. It really sucks that non members barely get anything from AJ and the item rarity has really gotten tanked. Also a hot take because I'm thinking about it, headdresses are severely overrated. I didn't see the appeal to them at all when I joined.

Oh my goodness, a few years ago i quit ajpw and ajc. I joined back not to long about, to everything i owned and worked hard for as a little girl GONEE. I mean on BOTH accounts and i was upset, I tried emailing them and telling them about it but they just said " sorry we cant do anything about that " liek its literally youre game and your proctection is so bad you cant help someone out?HELLO AJ?? Like its so annoying because when i tired to trade back up it was so DIFFICULT bc of the inflation of items on ajpw, i havent tried ajc but I think it wouldve been a lot earier, im just saying ill probably make a video about this game and not recommend it as a good game, i think it just went down hill after 2021 imo. When I got back on i was planning to stay for a while to meet people and stuff BUT.. First, most of my orginals friends that use to play QUIT A LOT TIME AGO and its sad bc i was really close with all of them, second when i was trying to make new friends it was lowkey hard bc 15+ is to rich to be friends w u so it says a lot about how people are in the game and I AM NOT tryna be friends w a little kid. Sadly after the week i came back to aj, i left. I cant with the game anymore, it literally just sucks now.

It feels much more difficult to actually trade, everyone wants to sell but alot of times the prices are extremely high you'll either have to be able to buy more sapphires or grind like crazy for them

I personally got banned for no reason and the only reason why was apparently it had “suspicious activity” on it.. the account was my brothers old account he hadn’t touched in months. I had to change the password and had 2 step verification

a older og pc player needs to buy or work with developers of this game and seriously rework it. Playwild is just easier to update, etc but if someone put enough money and time and genuinely cared about this game enough to save it that would be great.

Didn’t even know this game was still around. I had memberships on and off but I mostly stayed a non-member and almost exclusively used the app. Most every player was so greedy and immature and once membership perks (or would it be better to word it as stealing everything that was fun from people who didn’t want to support a greedy company?) wormed their way into Play Wild, the only reason I kept getting on was for my friends. Keep in mind, I started playing sometime in 2016. I loved this game and got a good few years before it went downhill, so obviously it was a total letdown. Once my friends stopped playing, I quit it completely and haven’t touched it since 2021 probably. But even back then, everyone was complaining that the game was going downhill and fast (at least PW, I’m assuming PC version as well) so I figured this game would have died off by now. I tried Feral as well, shame it didn’t last. Pretty sure it was only because they weren’t making as much money off of it as they had hoped, but with all the memberships and purchases, you can’t tell me they couldn’t fund it.

I would do anything to have the old animal jam community back, i'm talking 2013-15 best time period , the roleplaying and rarity system, the eagle adventure with spikes.. I literally joined someone in return of the phantoms hard the other day because I grew up grinding that adventure and wanted to relive the nostalgic memories and they were hacking it by making it give the prizes as soon as u join.. so odd. If u go to aldan and join return of the phantoms hard they might still be doing it, i've witnessed it these past few days. Too bad the current community only furthers this game to die. All the botting of adventures and the prizes killed rarity systems and the loss of collars and such in adventures has killed the want to continue to try to play and earn items it''s a double whammy

honestly the recolored spikes are awesome, it wont affect rarity bcz spikes were just a way of value, so ppl that dont care so much about value can totally enjoy a spike alot easier!! be kinda cool if they added a color wheel to the game though

I feel like nobodys saying the main reason which is they completely threw animal jam "classic" in the trash for pw. they lost the concept of the game being for friendship, roleplay, education and general hanging around and having fun. ( and notallowing all people to play!!!!) Animal jam classic has so much potential to be better. I understand updates take time but they sure can bang out play wild updates!! update the map, create more animal exclusive(or inclusive?😂) areas like play wild has. Or revamp the graphics maybe add some shaders or whatever term im looking for- to add more of an updated atmosphere/ambience. I just dont really get why they seem to literally ignore us as a fandom and focus solely on the remade version which is literally a more smoothed out, neon coloured, chaotic confusion of ideas marketed to kids. When the ORGINAL animal jam already marketed to both age groups perfectly. theres my essay nobody asked for from a vet aj "classic" fan😀😭.

I got banned for the most unfair reasons while in my 9 years of playing this game, almost like 10 bans and or suspensions I got banned once on AJPW for just saying dumb one time ( in like 2016 ) I got banned in 2018 for jumping on someone sleeping ( kinda deserved but it was while in a roleplay and someone took it kinda seriously and reported me, leading to me getting banned ) I got hacked in the pandemic ( i think it was in 2020 while playing AJC ) and got stolen all of my items, all my pets, got most of my 20 animals recycled and deleted and when i texted AJHQ about it they didnt do anything, leading to me losing an account of almost 5 years ) I made another account and got banned in 2022 for allegedly doing something inappropriate when i didnt do anything and most of the times i used to chat with my friends about Splatoon. I got banned on 2022 for bullying and harassing when i didnt do absolutely anything too And i got hacked on June of this year and got my Email and account permanently banned, apparently i got a little *Freaky* with someone there. So now, i have to deal with the fact that i lost 2 really good accounts, one that had extremely rare items on AJPW to a point i was worth like 30 solids when it came to AJC Currency and one that had a glitched crystal pegasus wings copy that i now cant get back for this shitty app having a really shitty moderation system. I am not playing the game again until AJ decides to update their game and give us actual good updates and most hacked accounts back to the corresponding people, pure bullshit we have to get used to right now.

i disagree with 3:54, i know many people that got their acc suspended and permabanned out of nowhere or after advertising their shops too much and other non harmful stuff. some people even got banned without saying anything on the day they got banned. the aj moderation sucks and if somebody who doesn't like you reports you and this report ends in the hands of that one moderator who's having a bad day, you are 100% paying the price for not even having done anything. as for stuff that personally happened to me i got my keyboard restricted for 48hours once from greeting a friend. GREETING A FRIEND. so i 100% believe anyone that tells me they were banned for no reason. (although that wzs in play wild) other than that, video is great!!
