In memory of guitarist HILTON VALENTINE (1943 - 2021) and bass player CHAS CHANDLER (1938 - 1996)
✿ܓ✿ܓ✿ܓ✿ܓ✿ܓ✿ܓ
January 29, 2021 - Very sad news that legendary guitarist with The Animals HILTON VALENTINE has died. What can you say about this man who gave us so much in the world of rock n roll... it's hard to summarise but he was a beautiful, great, influential guitarist who blessed us with his talent and flair with so many unforgettable and legendary performances. Chuck Berry (!) once described Hilton Valentine as "a wildly exciting instrumentalist", absolutely yes! there was so much more to Hilton than House of the Rising Sun, please check out Hilton's stormin' performances on album tracks and live performances and you would soon hear why Chuck Berry would acknowledge Hilton in this way. Let it Rock! Hilton, we loved and admired you and forevermore thank you for all your innovative contributions to rock n roll and for your presence. Rest in Peace and Love Forever! (From your loving fan, Magusmagic).
ERIC BURDON has paid tribute to his fellow band member - 'The opening opus of Rising Sun will never sound the same!... You didn’t just play it, you lived it! Heartbroken by the sudden news of Hilton’s passing. We had great times together, Geordie lad. From the North Shields to the entire world...Rock In Peace'.

MAY 21 - ❤ Remembering HILTON VALENTINE, (how could we forget him!) guitarist for The Animals and so much more, on what would have been his 81st birthday today. His iconic intro on their #1 hit 'The House of the Rising Sun' remains one of the most recognisable guitar riffs of all time. Hilton’s wild playing style and edgy rock & roll persona were instrumental in shaping The Animals' sound, inspiring countless guitarists. Hilton passed away in 2021 at the age of 77, but his legacy lives on, inspiring musicians worldwide through his unforgettable contributions to rock & roll. (May 21, 1943 - January 29, 2021) 🎶 🎸 We miss you

LYRICS : There is a house in New Orleans They call the Rising Sun And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy And God, I know I'm one My mother was a tailor She sewed my new blue jeans My father was a gamblin' man Down in New Orleans Now the only thing a gambler needs Is a suitcase and a trunk And the only time he'll be satisfied Is when he's all drunk (solo) Oh, mother, tell your children Not to do what I have done Spend your lives in sin and misery In the House of the Rising Sun Well, I got one foot on the platform The other foot on the train I'm goin' back to New Orleans To wear that ball and chain Well, there is a house in New Orleans They call the Rising Sun And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy And God, I know I'm one

I'm 72. Our garage band played this in '68 for the local March of Dimes Telethon. After we packed up, we stopped at a local bar for some water. When we told the bartender what we were doing out there, he invited us to play for the bar. We unloaded, set up in a corner and played a few songs for them. They all told us how good we sounded. We left feeling really proud of ourselves. Man, did we ever suck! But it at 16, we thought we were it! Love the memories!

I was serving in the British Army in Germany when this was released and remember the furore it created by being over 4 minutes long. At that time all records were a max of 3 minutes which fitted nicely into 30 minute and 1 hour radio shows, FOUR MINUTES, who do these youngsters think they are? Well now we know, brilliant music that I am still enjoying at 78.

My grandpa was huge fan of Chuck Berry and told me (multiple times) that he was there too. He was working abroad in Czechoslovakia back in 1960s (he's from Yugoslavia) and took few days off to go to Liverpool and watch Chuck live. Rest is history. I'm still amazed how planetary popular this song was and still is.

The only difference is back in the day the popular music was also the highest of quality (at least mostly) Nowadays the most popular music is the same primitive song heard a thousand times. Thats why modern music seems bad, the most popular ones have the least effort and creativity put into them. They are formulic, repetitive well practiced, with very few risks. But still, there are high quality new music profuced its just not as mainstream As back in the day

My father was a sailor. He was nine years old when this masterpiece was out. He loved it and he was listening to it in any possible way he could. He was the person who taught me to appreciate this kind of music. Pink Floyd, Rainbow, Zeppelin, Animals. The last years we've been living apart, he didn't have access to the internet so I've been playing this song at KZbin and put him on speaker. He was always singing along. This song kept him company through his childhood, his adult life and his last years. Now that I lost him, it keeps me company. I've lost him a month ago and if it was allowed by the church, this is the song I would choose for his memorial. I hope he sings this song wherever he is.

I was washing my car the other day, and had this playing on my bluetooth speaker. My 86 year old grandfather walks out of his garage and hears this playing. He starts telling me all about how his older brother used to play this at full volume on the radio back when they were young, and that he hadn't heard the song since. It was so surreal, for those few moments, you could tell he was back in the 60's with his brother (Whom died before I was even born).

I was 11 when this came out. It was never off the radio in 1964. Made number 1 in the UK, the US and worldwide really. Go back to it from time to time to remind myself of its majesty. Burdens voice is incredible. He nails the song from first to last. The intro, Alan price's spellbinding organ solo. Legend has it that it took one take.take. Ones musical taste at 11 is different from your middle age and I didn't actually like the song at the time. But for me,his powerful, soulful,, vibrant voice, along with it's instrumentals makes it extraordinary. I've watched people's reaction to it on hearing it for the first time and few fail to be blown away by it. He lives in California apparently. Still hauling on the royalties. Because classic iconic music never shows it's age. It's as contemporary now as it was back in 1964. Absollutely brilliant

@@garybradley1Sadly enough Erik Burdon didn't get a cent from this recording!!! Only Alan Price. So unjust. Alan should have split it among them in the tight way I think, not take advantage of a recording industry trick. Perhaps the Animals would last longer. This is my naive thought. I love Erik Burdon forever after I rediscovered him in a strange place twomyears ago. It was a background music to some rather rough shootings from the trenches of the Ukrainian war. Imagine. But the music wouldn't left me and somehow intuitively I found it.. here! Imagine this again.😊 I was 14 when this record was made. In Poland behind the Iron?... whatever that was called. Animals was the first British group that went to play there and I wish wish someone would find any footage of their performance, I think in Warsaw. Music scene was strong in Poland then as well as Theater. Erik Burdon insurected in the Ukrainian trenches.🎉❤🎉😢😂❤❤❤❤🎉❤❤❤❤❤

@hannawalinska9812 I totally agree with you. The original idea was that all of the bands names would appear on the record label, but it was discovered that they all wouldn't fit, so the only reason that Alan Price appears on the label is because he was first alphabetically.

@@hannawalinska9812 You're a big fan of this masterpiece then. I find it incredible. Trawling the internet I found this reaction to it. English isn't his native language. But,you can see he's authentically absolutely blown away by it. After a few bars he looks impressed, but when Eric gets into his stride his eyes start popping out. He can't get over his extraordinary vocals. I recommend you take a look at it. It's absolutely priceless. Just Google -neverender house of the rising sun.
