I believe this is because Akainu as an admiral serves the celestial dragons directly, and at this point we can assume that Bonney is the child of a celestial dragon. He was likely under orders to retrieve her from the 5 elders at that point in the story due to her blood status. An alternative is some protection deal with Kuma that had not yet expired. This might also explain why Saturn first told the marine forces to not bother with Bonney, but then changed his mind after she attacked him and he held her personally for her execution. Similar to how Figarland dealt punishment to his fellow celestial dragon in his first appearance.

I dont think bonney willed the age age fruit into existence, theres 2 things countering that idea in this chapter 1. Judging by bonneys actions when everyone including herself realized she got older it seems like bonney has been actively running outside of the church building up her stamina for traveling with kuma when shes 10 disregarding him trying to hide her from the sunlight, i think its safe to assume that she came across the age age fruit around sorbet during one of her laps when she was exhausted and shortly b4 she ran into kuma 2. The old man pulled out the devil fruit encyclopedia which means the age age fruit is already in circulation and would only show up after the previous user died nearby in sorbet I hope the anime clarifies it when this chapter gets animated

This chapter felt sloppy to me. Bonny just finds her devil fruit offscreen randomly? And then Vegapunk is just like yea I can cure her no biggie? Zero explanation to how he's able to cure this super rare disease? Also I don't understand how Kuma going out to sea by himself to look for a cure for Bonny would make him a pirate. The end scan was rather pleasant. The setting up of the Kuma/Saturn blackmail was agreed upon. Now we understand why Bonney was so closely monitored by the government... But there are some interesting ideas. In my opinion, Vegapunk mainly pretended to accept Saturn's odious blackmail, ensuring that Kuma retained his attachment to his daughter and his autonomy of thought. However, neither Saturn nor Borsalino were fools anyway! Let's say it was a deal that maintained the status quo for a while!! There's not much else to say... perhaps a personal reflection on Bonney's impulsive nature. We can see how this sun-like girl, much like Nami, shifted into something more aggressive, more agitated... unstable, irritable. Bonney is in a constant conflict with herself... but it's understandable. The events of her childhood were truly disturbing, from disillusionment to feelings of abandonment. Ultimately, she must have found herself very alone very quickly. That's probably why she struggles to attach herself to someone today. She prefers not to love for fear of rejection... The more time passes, the more I find myself drawn to her. She's a complex girl after all!! And there's a lot to gain from getting to know her!!"

I want to point out that Kuma was able to overwrite commands to Pacifistas, who were originally ordered by Sentomaru back in Sabaody. Gorosei > Vegapunk > Sentomaru > CP0 You also need to have a higher rank in order to "overwrite" an order. This means Kuma is at the very least on same authority as Vegapunk. It would be a twist if Vegapunk gave Kuma the highest priority himself.

I really like the idea that perhaps Kuma willed Bonney's fruit into existence, and the link between the Buccaneer's and their strong faith manifesting the intangible. It brought me back to Blackbeard and the long standing question of how he was able to take Whitebeard's fruit, and how he was able to consume and wield the power of two fruits. The existing theories aside of his multiple personalities, or his possible cerberus fruit, what if Blackbeard is instead the direct antithesis of Kuma, or rather, the Buccaneers? If we consider this idea that they can will fruits and other concepts into existence, mainly through their 'dreams' what would happen if there existed a Buccaneer who couldn't dream? What if Blackbeard himself is a Buccaneer, one who comes from a line that lost their ability to dream, perhaps due to some crime or treacherous act related to Joy Boy and the Void Century? He does have a 'strange body' as Zoro himself pointed out, and his physique does remind me of Kuma's, albeit more misshaped. Could it be that Blackbeard used that strange curtain to lull himself to sleep, dreaming up the ability to possess two fruits? What if instead of manifesting dreams, he manifested a nightmare? What would be more frightening to both the WG and the WB pirates then someone like BB stealing WB's fruit and holding the power of 2 of the strongest and most destructive fruits in the world? If BB can't dream, has he found an artificial way to do so, or is he somehow able to manifest nightmares? Oda loves creating parallels both between characters, and within the story itself, Egghead being a parallel of Saboady being an example; perhaps Blackbeard is a foil to Kuma, a Buccaneer himself, but one who is selfish, treacherous, ruthless, opportunistic and dangerously ambitious, without the ability to dream. This inability to hold onto faith or dream of something worth smiling for would make sense as to why he became the man he is. Kuma, with his faith and ability to dream shaped him into the good, selfless martyr he became, despite his pain and suffering. What if instead of BB being a parallel to Luffy, he is actually Kuma's opposite, a Buccaneer with no faith, (who sought a devil fruit that makes him powerful, but also incredibly fragile, losing out on that trademark Buccanner durability) can't dream and has no happiness.

Seems like it could prove to be like bleach. Luffy, might be a special case with the will of D, but there was a second stage to zampakto powers and possibly, all devil fruit, even a seemingly weak one. Perhaps could be an issue of weather the eater is capable of unlocking the "bankai" if u will... just a thought, honestly don't have that much invested into it... My though process is also that both devil fruit, and zampakto, are know to have had previous users, but not all of them unlock their potential...

Ginny had the DF, she died almost instantly after Bonney exchanged blood with her (via birth process), so the DF powers got transferred without the fruit step. Because of how Big Mom became a DF user, we can assume that when a DF user dies, a random fruit needs to be nearby to become a temporary vessel of this power ONLY if a new user is not in a close enough contact with the previous user for the powers to be transferred directly. Basically if the DF power has nowhere else to go, it goes to a fruit vessel, but this is not "needed" if the new user is already in contact with the DF powers' DNA. Also, Blackbeard did something to inherit Whitebeard's fruit that required a black curtain. Maybe he drank his blood or something gross like that and not just eating a fruit. At this point, it seems like you need to ingest the DNA of a current dying user to take over the fruit. If the user is alive, then you are merely "borrowing" the powers.

No, DF powers cannot be inherited through birth nor genetically, otherwise all BM's children would have the same power their mom has. I think the toshi-toshi fruit respawned close to Bonney, when its former user died.

Imu looks just like the shadowy Yokai in Florian Triangle, which is known as Umibozu translated to "Sea Monk" in Japanese mythology, always accompanied by stormy weather. As far as i remember about devil fruits, they can respawn anywhere be it on a tree or on a pile of fruits laying around. It isnt too far fetched then that a fruit was “offered” to the church as thanks to kuma or as a religious offering or any of that meaning and bonney being a big eater just saw a “pretty” looking one and ate it. Also down for the idea that she might “inherit” it from ginny, but im gonna believe that the simplest answer is the right one for this case
