I won't disagree that Europe doesn't have that many species (around 450) compared to places such as the USA (794 according to antwiki). But even then arround 450 isn't that little, I managed to find 25 to 30 different species last summer in Spain and here in the UK I found around 8 species, so it isn't that bad.

@AnkieJay4 жыл бұрын
lol one of my coworkers asked me yesterday what the best kind of ant, I just sent them this video. I also don't think you took into consideration the parasitic formica (having minors, workers, majors, creating super colonies [rufa], powerful antibiotics, able to spray acid a couple feet away) and lasius (smells like citronella and pushes out an absurd amount of alates each year, normal Lasius would be ranked lower though) then totally forgot about acorn ants being able to survive in a twig or acorn well into -69F or below (North Dakota) (Essentially the opposite of cataglyphis' tolerance of heat minus the majors but Northern Camponotus can actually be frozen solid and then be revived just fine afterwards) and could be ranked higher. This is Ankrauser, btw. So I may also be biased when it comes to parasitic Formica and Lasius such as F. planipilis, F. obscuripes, L. claviger and L. interjectus (which are all doing well and healthy)

@CMZneu5 күн бұрын
Bullet ants in S tier just because of their sting... so lame man, it's literally the only interesting thing about them. Other than that a decent list, would have put a bit more value on evolutionarily cool ant traits that define them as a colony, like leafcutters, weavers, etc and I hate to say it because as individual ants they are hella boring but as a colony argentine ants the GOAT and they are basically winning at life. Do a list or fight tournament thing of what colony would win in a fight, like if their nests were to close for comfort and conflict were inevitable, has to take into account average colony sizes, like sure a bullet ants might beat an argentine ants but now way is it beating a colony, also location does not matter like leafcutter vs weaver is fine but habitat maybe should like Cataglyphus would beat anything in its home turf so it kinda wouldn't make sense, also stuff like acorn ant vs dinomyrmex would be just a draw since they probably wouldn't even acknowledge each other. So stuff like leafcutter vs army, argentine vs fire ants, camponotus vs harvester, etc
