The Antonine Wall

2024, and for the first time I got to see (part) of the extant remains of the Antonine Wall. Though Roman did go further north, beating the Scottish tribes at the battle of Mons Grampians, and though Hadrians Wall stood for most of Roman Britians time as the northern frontier, for two relatively short periods the Antonine Wall was the northern frontier. It was really exciting to see these remains.
The fort at Bar Hill is at the highest point on the wall. The day we visited it was very windy. But if you are anywhere within striking distance - go see it. It's a wonderful place (when the weather is dry!)
