The AH-64A Apache first saw combat in Panama during Operation Just Cause. There, the Apache provided nighttime fire support for American ground troops. In the years that followed, the helicopters were used more and more frequently. During the First Gulf War, Apaches destroyed more than 500 Iraqi tanks, armored personnel carriers, and other enemy vehicles.
Having amassed 1.3 million flight hours in combat to date, the Apache can now be considered the most battle-proven attack helicopter in the world.

Eh I’ll always like the cobra better but I’m biased I grew up next to a cobra and Huey airfield. I saw the teething problem the Apache and Blackhawk had and how contracts were jammed through before proper testing was done just like the osprey

Thank you for your service. One of my "bucket list" items is to have a flight in a Huey! It'll always be my favourite helicopter, for both the looks and the sound.

I'm sorry to report this, but due to our current Administrations dislike for naming conventions that honor former foe's, the "Apache" has been renamed the "Poof Poof Rainbow Candy Coated Death Machine"

@@robgeenen79 Operation Cyclone was one of the longest and most expensive covert CIA operations ever undertaken.[2] Funding officially began with $695,000 in mid-1979,[3] was increased dramatically to $20-$30 million per year in 1980, and rose to $630 million per year in 1987,[1][4][5] described as the "biggest bequest to any Third World insurgency".[6] The first CIA-supplied weapons were antique British Lee-Enfield rifles shipped out in December 1979; by September 1986 the program included U.S.-origin state of the art weaponry, such as FIM-92 Stinger surface-to-air missiles, some 2,300 of which were ultimately shipped into Afghanistan.[7] Funding continued (albeit reduced) after the 1989 Soviet withdrawal, as the mujahideen continued to battle the forces of President Mohammad Najibullah's army during the Afghan Civil War (1989-1992).[8]

I'm sorry. But how many combat hours does the Apache have? No where near what the OH58 Kiowa does. LoL. Kiowa's are just simply better and have pilots that simply have bigger balls.

Kiowa’s are ancient technology and meant for Cold War tactics. Warfare evolves and requires different technology platforms based off location. The Kiowa was extremely power limited for the amount of technology that was on it. It was long overdue for its retirement. Kiowa guys can be sour about it but it’s just a fact.

The OH-58D amassed just over 800,000 combat flight hours. The AH-64 has well over 1,300,000 combat hours. Next.
