More often it’s the only hobby where you lose tons of money and have nothing to show for it, and it adds no lasting enrichment to your life. Gambling has destroyed countless lives, and often those affected aren’t the ones gambling and getting the temporary thrill. Very few people are capable of making money gambling, yet every person that tries it thinks it will be them. Spoiler alert, the only people who will make money on it are the same people who have the discipline, mental acuity, moral ambiguity and risk tolerance that they would succeed at almost anything they undertake, and that is not the case for your average person. And that average person includes myself and 99% of the world.
