Your initial determination to grasp to some kind of plot reminded me of a lyric by The Doors where Morrison sings "Cmon driver where you taking us?" This perfectly describes a moderate to large dose of psychedelic substances, where the tripper is led to a place where all desires seem foreign or from without and they must surrender to disillusionment otherwise contend with the suffering pain of fighting against the drug taking control of your mind (always a bad idea to fight powerful forces beyond ones control).
