Holy crap. Found you on spotify listening to music based on a charater of mine. Funnily enough he has long ginger hair and beard too. Also a werewolf.

Somebody pointed out that there are an unusual number songs in my playlist with "wolf" or "wolves" in the title, and I thought it'd be funny to pad it out with as many as possible. That's the only reason I found this. It was totally worth it.

I think it’s a song of enlightenment. Your soul is Free and always has been, be true to yourself and play the role that God has lain before you. All will be discovered, you’ll be fine. Don’t let the wolves cut you down. Life is a spectator sport from the seat of the soul, just play your part.

The main character seems to be or encourage a symbol of freedom, persecuted by the self-righteous. That's the general theme of it. I _think_ the metaphor here is wolves as freedom, hunters as the oppressors. There's also a bit of the French Revolution going on in there. Stacked stuff. Whatever the case, the oppressors are eerily close to winning. "Cut your tail" is a southern phrase for an ass-whooping, but there's other meanings to assign when you think of it as a ponytail. In Japan, Samurai cut their top-knot when they renounced their title. Many women go from a long hairstyle to a shorter one once they have kids, as it's more practical. So assign to that what you will - Don't let them beat you. Don't let them strip your rights. Don't let them take your youth. All have good arguments for them. A pinch of salt in the wound is an old antibacterial remedy, that I wouldn't recommend that much these days except for treating a toothache (salt dissolved in water is best). It's a painful medicine.
