I bought one for my twenty-two mile work commute in San Diego. It delivers as advertised. $24K with doors, no regrets as EV's are $40K+ in CA. I work at the airport and reside ten miles from the beach, the rockstar parking alone is worth it. My gas cars sit idle as my FUV does 95% of my driving needs.

$24K wtf no way if it was $10-15K maybe especially only having a 7.5Kw battery no wonder they are going bankrupt. It's too close to $30k which has real cars like the bolt, leaf, model 3, and upcoming model 2 which are from companies that will still exist in 5 years to service the thing.

@@christophers707 I thought the same initially, but at that price the only real EV option in SoCal in 2022 was a Bolt, if you could find one. No way I drive a boring compliance car. Even now EV's are $40K to $60K here. ICE three wheelers like Harley's and Can Am's cost the same. The FUV's specs fit my particular use case and my FUV experience is still a hoot, even now after 16,000 miles. But it does have it's obvious limitations. So I joined Apteras Accelerator Program and look forward to taking delivery of a solar EV by the end of this year.

@@barnabasseadog7660 I seriously doubt you'll see the Aptera this year. The y need to build the battery pack plant first which will take 2 years minimum probably more (California). Maybe they can convert an existing building 1+ years. I think it's a cool car and maybe in 3+ years I can buy one. For now I will stick to established auto makers thinking about getting a used f150 lightning prices are falling fast.

@@christophers707 I'll be attending the EVA annual meeting at Aptera Motors this weekend. They will present an update on their production plans with the PI builds and the partership with a Korean tier 1 battery supplier. I'll be driving an Aptera before you can reserve a Tesla Model 2.

It’s definitely great for back and forth to work and long rides in the country. Where can you go to get it serviced? Are the tires and breaks standard. There should be very little maintenance. Can you extend the range by portable battery pack? ( using the back compartment for small batteries)?

@@christophers707 I been hearing this ever since I got my ride, yet they still support the vehicle. It helps knowing that the field tech resides in my city. The other owners band together on Facebook to troubleshoot problems. Should the company ever die, the rest of us are going to find a way to keep them running. Or we will own collectors vehicles.

The only standard part is the tires and wheels. This is a new concept in vehicle design so don't buy one if you demand 100.00% reliability 24/7/365 No the range is already great and the power in those huge 51 volt batteries 18 KWH is not going to be boosted by a little box you carry in the trunk. That's what EV charging stations are for but you don't need that if you live sustainably. I have not been out of my town for 9 years and if I had to go over 100 miles I'd take public transportation or rent a car but I have never needed to yet. Skittish software and never before used part designs come with the purchase of a new class of vehicle. But the fun factor is sky high while it is as safe as any small car and we get rock star parking as well as super low insurance - Mine is just $134/yr for a good Allstate policy. Every day I have driven mine for the last 2 years I have gotten thumbs up, friendly honks and people yell things like cool ride and badass! I never complete a shopping trip without interested people asking me questions in parking lots.

Not meant to be a primary vehicle, I understand. Renting one less than a couple yrs ago really helped understand the concept and amazing experience! Great for around or town to town. FUV‼️Plenty of get up & go!! Hope the price drops a bit, however.

It has been my only vehicle for two years now. Perfect for a single guy! I took out the back seat to have a cargo bay enclosed with cargo webbing. The price is incredibly low when you do the math, how many vehicles completely pay for themselves in just 8 years? My insurance is only $134/yr! No gas, no oil changes, no parts desired by thieves, no engine or transmission to blow up. An old car costs us an average of $3000/yr to own and operate, year after year forever. In comparison to that my FUV pays for itself in economy in a short time and it is so much more fun to drive than a boring unimaginative car.

Catch up with the times. In 2023 the average price of a new EV in the US is $60,000. And autocycles have a HUGE hidden payback bonus from day one - insurance is at the motorcycle rate. Mine is just $134/yr in a state where any old car is $1000 to insure. Noisy gas hog Harleys are the same price as the emissions free FUV but only one of those offers a level of safety similar to a small car.

@@popeyegordon Pure cope plenty of EV's under $30k that are way more capable and safe from car companies that will be able to service it in 5 years. The reason they are expensive is because lack of scale. You need to make thousands of cars not hundred's

@@christophers707 The reason current EV's are expensive is because most of them are luxury vehicles with premium insurance rates and repair cost. Hyundai and KIA are getting close but are still in the $40k to $60K range. The dealership are still going to try and gouge you. But the cheaper EV's are coming in the next couple of years. Until then FUV life is good for me, as the world continues to burn and flood.

@@christophers707 You failed to grasp both the sustainability issue that is fully addressed in light EVs, and the HUGE difference in insurance that costs us about a grand a year forever with heavy 4 wheeled EVs that waste so much energy as they are often driven with a single occupant and an empty trunk. My 1300 pound Arcimoto costs me just $134/yr for insurance for a 2024 policy from Allstate. In ten years that saves me $9000! When you buy a lighter vehicle the cost to charge and maintain it is far less on an annual basis, even when compared to a car that is given to you absolutely free! The eventual battery trade-in will also be just half as much with the FUV.

needs more range. 103 miles per charge is only good if you never go on the freeway. But what about highways, they are 45 to 50 mph.

I can run my FUV at 82mph on a SoCal freeway. The burn rate is a factor at that speed and everyone else is still blasting past you.

Needs less range to avoid letting consumers think it is still OK to waste resources in 2024. Leave this at home and take a bus or train if you have to go far. Mine tops out at 84 mph but 70 is fast as hell, like riding a rocket as the twin motors whine like a jet turbine.

@@kiwichem4336 90kmh is only 55.9 mph! The FUV does 82 to 85 mph. Mine hits 84 mph despite the fact that Arcimoto specs mention a 75mph top speed. And we have a roomy locking trunk. Most important of all, the FUV is AMERICAN MADE which makes it the only choice for loyal patriotic Americans. Also, Twizzy has no alternate configurations like pickup bed, Deliverator or insulated cargo box. I see some nimrod compare to the Twizzy or Bolt every week, they are all wrong.

The FUV is a ?Autocycle" which is basically a motorcycle. Where I live you do not need auto insurance or a helmet. As of yet the Twizy is not marketed in the USA. The FUV looks like it has a longer wheel base, which is good. The FUV has real torque.. The FUV does not lean (yet), so high speed cornering is tricky. I think the Twizy would flop over.

@@chrisconklin2981 No. It is not a motorcycle any more than it is a car. 50 different state laws about autocycles are still in early stages of accommodating the actual vehicle designs on the roads now. After over two years of driving it as my only vehicle I can say it is extremely stable and there are no reports of rolling one, just gossip about the few dropped off for repair after idiots drove them recklessly or while drunk and rolled them. They are too embarrassed to talk about it or post photos in our owner group. Leaning is cheap thrills for kids and the design is radically different, an FUV can not be 'altered' to lean, that's an entirely different design! What most people do not realize is *the flat tread car tires used on the FUV present 14.5 inches of tread to the road at all times* , in all weather, while motorcycles and leaning trikes have rounded tires with less pavement contact which means you can wipe out easily on wet pavement or a slick patch.

No it does not. Motorcycles never have doors. It is already a stretch to have the weight of a certified crash cage. But it is far more comfy than a motorcycle thanks to its wrap around windshield, joining roof with rain gutters and the heated seats and grips. Climate controlled cars are boring and unimaginative as well as being too damn heavy.

@@popeyegordonEnjoy the winter riding? Since this is the best way to buy a cheap EV and most will use this as a primary vehicle, most riders/drivers want full enclosure from the elements. It's a good way to have more potential buyers for this type of transport. Plus Acrimoto can make the doors or enclosures removable and both parties will be happy.

@@cameranmanner4701 I am one of 500 owners who do not want doors on a motorcycle. In Florida the winter is the best time to ride. ONE BILLION MOTORCYCLE AND SCOOTER RIDERS HAVE NO DOORS and every one of them wish they had the wind protection of the roof, wrap around windshield with wipers, safety harness and the heated bucket seats on the Arcimoto. Climate controlled cars are no longer sustainable because of their abuse and excessive emissions. The FUV has been my only vehicle for the last 2.5 years. Before that I drove the solar/pedal powered velomobile as seen in my avatar image for 7 years. It also has no doors. Motorcycle riders see doors and windows as an abomination. They isolate us from nature and transform the vehicle into a solar oven which then obviously needs AC to cool it down after being parked in the sun. Cars are boring, unimaginative and unadventurous, in addition to almost always being TOO BIG, much bigger than we need. Cars are usually driven with two or three empty seats and an empty trunk, on 5 mile trips that are better done with a bicycle or scooter.

@@cameranmanner4701 I enjoy the winter riding very much compared to any of the one billion motorcycle and scooter owners on this planet. Every one of them envies the comfort level of the Arcimoto. Doors are for pussies and inexperienced drivers who have no previous motorcycle experience. Plastic doors do nothing to protect us from weather or collision, safety is achieved with a harness and roll cage, like formula one racing.

@@popeyegordon how viable is it if there is only a limited buyer base? Having a removable enclosure satisfies the purest and the many who prefer to be sheltered from the elements. Having a enclosure will help with frigid temperatures plastic or fiberglass. It will just bloat the cost. Options is what gives this vehicle a second life. It really needs it.
