Aren't the rivals like.... The first floor. Core aspect of the game? The one thing the game is about? Eliminating them? Developing everything else first would definitely be the roof. That's like, developing a Monster Hunter Title, but the Monsters aren't there yet. Or, developing a Survival Horror Game, but there's no Enemies that can't kill you. Etc. The core piece of the gameplay isn't there.

The idea that, "You can't criticize his coding, you never made a game!" Sounds pretty flawed. Imagine watching a really bad film. The acting was awkward, plot was inconsistant, and the graphics were atrocious. You don't need to be a movie god to critique it.

In comparison let's take a look at Scott Cawthon. - Scott Cawthon made his games all alone for the longest time - Scott interacts with the fanbase and plays along with the fanbases theories - Scott takes criticism and uses it to improve himself and his games - Scott remains humble even if he is a successful person - Scott makes his game for the sake of his fans and not just the money. Proof of this is when he took down FNAF World to improve it and later rereleases it for free. - Scott works at his hardest and makes the most of the game engine he uses - Scott accepts help from other developers and as a result the mobile ports have been updated and remade from the ground up to be faithful to the pc version

@@annethefoxproductions2760 Yes but still, YanSim isnt exactly the most mind-boggling, ground-breaking concept of a game, both just as an idea (which on its own is a bit underhanded and simple) and as a graphics, models and designs go aswell. Like its not complicated, its not that deep. It doesnt even have a story. The developer literally has the story in his KZbin videos instead of having it be told through his game, despite it not being that complex of a lore, like compared to games that have better graphics, story and everything else that also had only one developer make the game in its entirety. It also doesnt justify that this developer has spent SIX YEARS on said game and is nowhere near a finished product, let alone an alpha, like story wise its empty, most of the rival characters arent even in the game yet, the dev keeps focusing on "small apples" over "big apples" aka the SUPERRRR simple and irrelevant parts of the game over the bigger more important and prominant stuff of the game, and we still see practically no progress throughout his update videos over all the 6 full years this game has been developed, which in itself is a pretty amazingly impossible thing to do, and I can only take my hat off to this dev for doing something this bad to the point where 5k EVERY MONTH from his patreon supporters and "volunteers" is meaningless? Like how? how is that even possible?! With that kind of money, even I would've made more progress making a damn game for 6 whole years, and I dont even know jack shit about programming, developing, story-writting or making games in any shape way or form, like whaaat?? The code is so bad that it badly hurts the game, making it where it takes forever to load, it causes most computers to crash, not even playable. Like, I wanted to do a video, my personal experience playing the game, but I couldn't even do that, the game crashed my computer because the codes are so terrible that my computer can't take it. And if you tell him that, which he needs to hear, fix, he gets offended, goes "THEN YOU ARE A KID WITH YOUR PARENTS CHEAP LAPTOP TO PLAY THE GAME! GET A JOB, SAVE UP MONEY TO GET A GAMING LAPTOP! THAT'S WHAT YANDERE SIMULATOR IS FOR! BECAUSE IT'S FOR ADULTS!" So, let me get this straight...Dev, instead of trying to fix the problem, like he's being paid to do, his solution is to just buy an expensive laptop just to play his game, that many told him have trouble playing, because the game is so buggy that it makes their computer want to give out.

Putting aside who yandere dev is as a person, the biggest thing that bugs me about the game is how buggy and unpolished it is. For a game that has been in development for over 5 years, you would think he would have at least changed the character models by now. The characters look stupid when they talk and walk around- the path finding is robotic and stiff. The UI is bland and unexciting, and it doesnt make you want to do anything when everything else around the player screams "ugly". I don't see why there are so many graphic options in the menu to make the game run smoother, when that wouldn't be an issue if the coding just wasn't shit. The game running at 10 fps wouldn't be a problem if everything on the map didn't need to be loaded in regardless of where you are in the school. I don't see what is visually appealing about the students flopping on the floor like fish when you kill them, or the hideous animation that plays when they get scared and run away. The artstyle of the game is horribly inconsistent, the guidance counselor and the headmaster look like they don't fit into the setting at all. Not to mention, every character has the same face, with the only thing separating them from looking the same being their hair. I don't understand how the dev plans to release a demo anytime soon when there have been so many quality of life aspects that have been making the game such a pain to play that havent been improved/added in! (How the class subjects work, the school looking empty, the path finding etc.). It used to be funny, but the amount of bugs in the game has become much more of an eyesore than anything else ruining the immersion. Whether its clipping issues or characters spinning around like idiots, the game has absolutely no polish whatsoever. The simplest thing can make the game bug out like crazy, which is ridiculous seeing as it is nearing its demo phase. The game has no story so far (which I'm fine with since the first rival isn't even out, I mean, what story is there even to tell right now?) But the way the game runs is horrendous and the look of it is just way too awkward. I still don't get why this guy decided to take on such a big project, without even knowing what he wanted it to look like :(

When I first joined the fandom of Yandere Simulator, I was a edgy 11 year old. As time went on I eventually lost interest in the game around 1-2 years ago. Recently my KZbin Feed has been filled with these "what Yandere Dev has done videos". When I left the fandom there was a promise of Osana being released. I can't believe that their has literally been no progress on the game since I left besides stupid easter eggs. I am dissatisfied and disappointed

Yes, I remember. I left around the same time and kept up when he did update with the notes. I remember getting excited seeing Osana would be released and was disappointed when I left and it never happened. I was actually excited for the game, I remember when Markiplier first played it, think that's when I found out about it.

Tbh same. I left for a while and came to see that on 2020 that he finally added snap mode. When I saw jay from Kubz Scouts playing it, I honestly was disappointed. All Yandere Dev did was add a red filter, made the students frozen for you to kill them, Ayano has the same animation as a mindslave, and the angle is different (something like that). I watched videos of people criticizing him, but I didn’t much of it. You would think with knowing that most of his fanbase goes to school that he would add Osana just to cheer us up but of course not. As time went on, I just gave up hope for the game altogether.

some disgusting fan for 3 fandoms Tbh, if Yandere dev released snap mode the way it is now around 2015-2018, I would cut him some slack. It’s so disappointing since you would expected something much different. I thought if we saw Ayano snap, we would actually see her true character. But now looking back at the way I described snap mode, Ayano isn’t that much different from a mindslave (besides killing everyone in her path then killing Taro). Not to mention that snap mode is only works in one scenario.

The fact that Yandev doesn’t take criticism is a huge disadvantage and here’s why; Scott Cawthon got feedback about his character models and the feedback states that his models are creepy or disturbing. Unlike Yandev, Scott took that feedback and used it to his advantage by creating a horror game (FNAF) and now he has an ongoing video game series that has over 8+ games and even has a book series. Now what Yandev is doing is that he doesn’t listen to feedback at all (even though he states he wants to here feedback). He is just creating a game without thinking of what other people will think of the finished product. Like that’s the point of feedback; it’s supposed to help the developer create something anyone can enjoy

Most of the people (especially the KZbinrs) criticizing YanDev and the game manage to keep it mostly civil and constructive; the worst they'll do is make jokes at his expense, but they don't actively wish for his and his fans' deaths. Some other great KZbinrs who touch the subject are Kappa Kaiju, The Right Opinion, Some Weird Paste Gaming (he can be a bit harsh though), TheGameSleuth, Thafnine, and Noble Lucy. @Michael Brody I mean, with how game design works then yeah the rivals should be programmed in first. Its the main part of the core gameplay. If this was a house the students and other mechanics are the walls and the ceilings but the rivals are the structure of the house, everything falls apart without it. Yansim is an alpha build. Its not supposed to be fun to play its supposed to show the core mechanics and build the base for the game before they add anything else. Walking up to a rival in a white box and killing them wouldve been a more efficient start than having a bunch of students and other mechanics there that serve no purpose because of the lack of a win condition

At first, when I say the title I was going to hate, and already pressed the disliked button. But When I watched the full video and totally agreed with you, I changed the dislike button to a like button. I mean, he said he would change the characters 3D models but he said he'd cancel it since It might took too much time. But I think he should change it because, there is a fucking KIDS GAME. And it used the 3D characters from yandere simulator keep in mind, the kids game that I saw was released on 2010. It would be weird if he would make an adult horror game, using characters from other kids games... Edit: (I forgot to write this) The Japanese culture/logic does not make any sense (As a korean who lived on japan for 3 years and studies for 2 years. Yan sim does not make any sense) ° all girls wear shorts under their skirts, I mean what game is he trying to make "horror" or "hentai?" ° (this isn't about japan culture) Yan Dev said he wanted to make the bullies and delinquents different. It WORKED!!! but...all the bullies look the same, and so as the delinquents. ° again with the girls not wearing shorts and the bullies wearing shorter skirts, I'm pretty sure our P.E. teacher. Waits on the school gate for all of us, when he sees girls who's wearing short skirts he punishes them, by letting them stay outside by the heat. ° the bullies and delinquents are always late, if girls are late or not following the dress code(skirt size) they will stay outside. If boys are late, our P.E. teacher would make them do planks outside or make us run on the running tracks. ° the delinquents carries weapons on a school........ °not all teachers know how to defend themselves ° are male teachers not a thing on yan sim? ° getting send by the guidance counselor isint a thing in japan when you do something bad, you straight up get punishment, its either running on the fields, or getting hit by a stick on the back of your leg. (Edit again) Yan Dev showed that osana and senpai were classmates. So why tf is osana calling him senpai when they're the same, senpai is like calling someone senior or hyung

I don't. Botw has a scope that makes skyrim run for its money, yandere simulator is a high school. Botw has many many weapons and enemies, yandere simulator has 81 NPCs with the same code, with some killing methods. Botw has countless sidequests, yandere simulator may have 13 or so rivals which will be so "unique" they'll take as long as osana. No shit that required a team.

Stardew Valley was also mostly made by one person. Concerned Ape did get help later from chucklefish, but only in code polishing. And Concerned Ape had a job as a barista on the side of his developing the game! So yeah, the "he's only one person" excuse is weak as fuck...if Yandere Simulator ever gets finished, it'll probably be a broken hot mess that'll fry even the beefiest of computers just on how inefficient it's put together.

His "else if" code can easily fixed. I'm learning about coding at the moment, and I dont know much. However, this is basic stuff. "Else if" says "hey, if this means this, do that. If that if it doesn't mean that, than try this," then it repeats that until it finds the correct result. This slows down the program by a lot, making this happen every frame. Example: if(one == this) { DoThis; } else if(two == this) { DoThisTwo; } //This loops on until it finds the correct one// A different and much better way to do this is called a "switch" statement. Instead if going through every sing option, it automatically picks the right one. Example: switch(thisThing) case one: DoThis; break case two: DoThisTwo; break; This is much easier and less time consuming, yet he doesn't do it. It makes me so mad.

The “he’s only one person” argument makes me a bit mad, like you know who else was one person? Pixel aka Daisuke Amaya. One man, who programmed a game entirely by himself, all the way back in 2004. Cave Story lives on to be one of the greatest indie games of all time... and yanderedev bans people on his discord for saying oof and pointing out his rubbish code. Tl;dr Cave Story was made by one guy.
