Each story reader has it's own strengths, so pick what you like! But I'll just warn you right here: The story is very long (even individual events!), and the story needs to warm up in the first few main chapters.

Hoestly, with the recent changes for new players and giving them an early 5* E2, the early game in Arknihts should become pretty easy, especially ince tht gives you early access to very strong support units. And if that wasn't enough, there are multiple people making guides that can inspire your own strategies. I don't think trying out Arknights again should be that big of a problem.

Who said "Do not play original Arknights?", these people never played the original AK in first place then. Its more about the lore and characters, gameplay is to keep players intreracting with the novel-story. Besides that, its getting more fun, once you have different teams build up for different stratigies. It is way more than a tower defense mobile game. Furthermore, the story up to chapter 14 (event Babel included) is a deeper story than you will find in Final Fantasy 14.

Most people appreciate the Arknights community. We're not without some trolls and people who spread misinformation but overwhelmingly most of us are just trying to be helpful and want to share what we love with others. In terms of story Arknights has amazing plots with compelling twists and characters. However, the dialogue can be excessively lengthy which can feel like a chore to get through at times. I recommend watching the Anime because it does a great job of capturing all the good plot points without the excessive dialogue. FR Arknights is hard. It just is, there's no way around it. The best players can figure out how to clear a stage in like 3 tries and a lot of people, even if they are doing a pretty solid job, will get stuck on a stage sooner or later and just can't get their head around it. The reason for this is that Arknights throws lots of curve balls that require you to come up with something you probably have never done up to that point. There's also a fairly overwhelming number of mechanics in play and the stage design actually uses them all eventually. Also, because the game focuses more on strategy and tactics you can't totally out level a stage. By that I mean levels make it a little easier, but you still need to have some fundamental strategies to get past stages. So unlike most gacha games where you can just brute force everything by over leveling that isn't really that effective in Arknights. Wis'adel is probably the 1 exception to this and I even see people struggling on some stages with her.

The difficulty of the game mixed with how good the story is makes it (for at least most players) so you always want to improve yourself to beat that next stage and discover what is waiting for you. And genuinly trying new strategies and going against stages is almost always quite fun (am looking at you civilians from the Hortus de Escapismo side story). However since it can sometimes be rather hard for new players, there are still people willing to do tutorials to help them out. Like our friendly neighbour KioStinV (seriously the work he does for the community, specially for newcomers is incredible).

@@pablokestarx5901 Oh those civilians. It's ironic that the people we're meant to be saving are the ones we hate the most. They should redesign civilian game mechanics so that when you save them you get a meaningful benefit that makes you actually want to help them rather than just being forced to help them. They could do something interesting like reducing SP costs of your operators which drastically changes the meta around and makes a lot of skills much more powerful. Something easier to balance would be giving you consumables you can use for that stage.

Gave me a scare with that title, man. Anyways, IMO, if you want to give Arknights a shot while we're all waiting for Endfield to actually release, you should feel free to. A long time ago some people I trusted the opinions of dissuaded me from playing Arknights when it came out. Told me that because it's tower defense I wouldn't like it- even though I'm a big fan of strategy games. A year and a half later, I found it again, and gave it a try anyhow. Those friends of mine were wrong-- I LOVE Arknights. Your experience won't necessarily be the same, obviously. But there's no shame in giving the game another try if you think you can handle the gameplay... and if your main interest is the story? There are more than a few websites and resources to read the game elsewhere. Me and many others would be happy to help you with that.

@@RegashuDBDo be aware there are multiple “stages” to Arknights. Early-game is the most boring, because you have no income to do or build anything and because the early stages are the most basic of basic tower defense as well as early skills being crazy boring. Mid-game is the hardest because you have a semi-built team trying to rush endgame content, and late-game has multiple entire game modes that might as well be completely different games. So when you see people talking about how good it is, it’s probably about the lategame stuff.

you should check lauli lore aswell, it can explain how gun works in AK and some event focused summary but he never posted again (taken over by some lobotomy game) also Arknights is not really a traditional tower defense, its a hybrid, so the more you play the more varied and different they are to play, AK is objectively the one gacha always constantly bring new mechanic and gamemode constantly compared to other game, not even close

There is no shame in looking up Arknights guides. Also, due to RNG being used sparingly in the gameplay, video guides are easily replicable. There's even a mad lad who does clears with just starter characters if you need gacha proof help

Yes i Read almost everthing, i guess not the summer and two events. Its big and hard to chew, its bigger than Harry Potter. *Music : you can make content reacting to the musics the music neber dissapoints, and its very diberse so surely there will be one that you will like. *Anime: Not bad, not awesome, covers the early chapters of the game, with you want to go smothly in the OG you can skip the early chap. Btw, really unrelated to basically everything, but if you are into these types of factory builders as a whole, "Satisfactory" is a really good and friendly game for that. Basically considered 3D Factorio, alien Planet, building factories, etc. It also doesn't really take itself too serious... As reference, the people who made this game are the same developers who made Goat Simulator (yes, I am not joking lol). Also, it's just especially fun in multiplayer with friends. (Also, tons of quality and fun mods to always keep you playing with new stuff)

I think you mentioned really liking Starset and being hype when you heard them on the Endfield trailer video. This is the 5th Arknights trailer that's featured Starset. For the original game all 4 "concept trailers" released over the past 5 years have used Starset. Concept Trailer #3 was even where Starset's song "Infected" debuted. And they just flew Starset to China to play at their Ambience Synesthesia 2024 concert earlier this year. If you wanted to get a fast sampling of the wide variety of music in the Arknights world, you really can't do better than just watching Ambience Synesthesia 2024. The prior year's Ambience Synesthesia 2023 won the Hollywood Music in Media Award for Best Live Concert, and the quality of 2024 was even a significant step up from that one. The theme of the 2024 concert is traveling to all the countries of Terra and hearing the music related to that part of the world, followed up by Starset belting out three absolute bangers live while the related concept trailer videos play behind them. Music is originally what got me started on trying Arknights. I really can't stress how surprised I was by how much music they've put out these past five years and how diverse and consistently high quality everything is. Putting way too much effort and resources into music is kind of a staple for AK and I suspect it'll be the same for Endfield. As part of preparing for the experience I think their emphasis on music is as high as it is on storytelling.

7:00 well, I wouldn't say "don't play the game", but if you're not fan of tower deffences games there's no point forcing yourself, But I must add something, the "tower deffence" is more of a facade, in reality it's way more of a strategy game, unlike most TD, your limited about how many units you can have on a map at a time, the enemies retaliate, it's way more involve and when it come to challenging content the game has a lot to offer wich often makes you have to micro-manage a lots, it also have a LOTS for optional gamemodes, both temporary and permanent. If I could give you a reason not to play the game it would probably the time needed, there has been a LOTS of content over the years and almost everything ultimately become permanantly available, AND the story can be slow starting and VERY wordy at time wich add to the time required to experience things, so I hope you read fast x) BTW since you mentioned being a PGR player, I have ONE last argument in favor of the game: The music fucking SLAP, As much as I love PGR's music as well, AK blow it out of the water by the sheer quantity and diversity of it while not sacrificing quality :p

@@RegashuDB I knew this argument would have some weight (I also starget PGR because of the music xD) If I maygive a few suggestions to show a bit the diversity: Character themes (these don't even apear ingame): Settle Into Ash, Mortal Eye, Stenchen, Morning Dew, Go my Way. Boss theme: Wolfmaster, Martyr, Control's Wish, The wirpool that is passion boss theme. Event lobby theme: Babel lobby theme, Operation basepoint, misty memory (both day and night ver are good). don't want to suggest to many but I think that a decent sample, tho obviousely biased toward my tastes :x (it was so hard to chose you have no idea)

Watch the Babel video. Then after that (QaiserMLG's Lone Trail lore video). This one is amazing as Lone Trail connects to Endfield in a way and someone from BG3 praised its story. Then BionicFactory's Lone Trail explained video. This is also Lone Trail. Both videos are great. Then you should check out the anime if youd like to experience chapters 0-6 without reading. (chapter 7 and possibly 8 in season 3)

Thanks for this video. Cause apparently it's acceptable to put the Arknights community in a bad light. I guess every community of every game is in the crosshair at some point. Also a few quick tips if you haven't uninstalled Arknights already. - Skip early story chapters (really only stories that came out after early 2022 are really worth reading. Not that the other ones are bad but most people would consider reading them a waste of time) - don't hesitate to use a KyostinV/Eckogen guide every time you get stuck - build you base ASAP - build your lower rarity characters - have fun :)

The Original Arknights could be very stressful most of the time when it comes to gameplay to a point where I have to watch the guides on youtube and the story, although quite interesting, is pretty long and I have no time just to read one story. Don't get me wrong, I do like it and that's what make me keep playing... If you're going to get into OG Arknights I have to say that the early story is straight up bad, it's not worth the time simply because the other storylines are far far better and the devs gained a lot of experience in writing and expanding on the visual novel limitations the further the game went on for. There's an Arknights anime and it's kinda good, not amazing but good. It won't wow you or make you wet your pants most of the time except some very very good episodes (a scene in season 2 episode 5 was so good I watched the whole episode more than ten times just to experience it again but you probably won't like it as much as I did) The anime might not be something very special but it's much much more enjoyable than reading the early chapters of the game and it can ease your entry into Arknights lore as you're not jumping head straight into an unfamiliar world with unfamiliar visual novel format, watching the anime is definitely recommend and if you didn't like it at all you can just choose to not read the story without feeling you're missing out on things that you might not like. As for the gameplay of OG Arknights I think it's amazing, I was already a fan of tower defense games like Bloons TD and Plants vs Zombies so Arknights's complex game mechanics felt like a blessing from god to me, no offense to BTD and PVZ players but those games are so easy especially without restricting yourself to a specific type of niche play, but arknights is hard even if you use brain dead top of the meta operators like Walter or Logos, yeah they make the middle and early game a snooze fest but the endgame content will still kick your ass if you're dumb, but if you're smart you can clear literally everything (except one event that doesn't exist anymore) with 4 stars as the game is balanced around them (we have 5 and 6 stars in Arknights too so 4 stars are kinda the bare minimum of high functioning characters). If you don't like going through the story, anime or the gameplay there are helpful youtube videos in here that'll explain the lore and there are guides for almost every battle stage in Arknights too that use low rarity characters, if you run into any other specific problems you can always ask the arknights subreddit too, they're always there to help and answer any questions even if the questions are kinda dumb (I've asked some very stupid ah questions myself and no one has answered to me in a rude way in there yet)

Thank goodness that you will be playing the main game again,because that is the real bees knees behind what Endfield will be doing,you have to see it for yourself the real grit that occurs 1000 years prior to Endfield,and why the strides made in it a marvel to behold. And thank you so much for actually being able to learn,because there's a bastard KZbinr out there(not Tectone)who,despite being given everything in his comment section,never seemed to learn nor make any progress with each upload,yet complained about the same issues over and over. As for clearing stages properly,you need to do them on your own(borrowing will make it invalid for autos,which you need),maxing out your one,two,and three star Operators is highly recommended,since they provide great utility in combat and in base for their cost,and for the love of all Terra,do NOT dump all your resources into maxing out a six star until you actually have both a core team to work with and the resources to do so. As a base centric Doctor myself,the real cats' meow is getting your base fully running,the passive influx of LMD makes things so much easier,along with the ability to work on your Operators' skills. We will observe your career with great interest,and we do actually hope you keep playing the main game alongside Endfield,both are worthy of your time.

Since you like having everyone on field, maybe try Aether gazer in the meantime. It's PGR, worse combat and also team of 3 units but all characters are on field at the same time. Every unit has their own ultimate but some characters have combined ultimates with different animation It may be a good opportunity to try it before endfield releases

Sure there is love, like caring about someone or some characters being married or have children but nothing involving us the main character. Honestly, (with the exception of ex-Arknights content creator Kektone) the only real “toxicity” among Arknights players is that they get a bit _too_ eager to help newbie players. It’s not _intended_ to be backseating, but it can really come across that way when they give you tips like “build this character” or “face X character in this direction instead on Y spot on the battlefield ” or “put your vanguard on the field first”. Many are seasoned/experienced players that want newbies to have an easier time and get ahead on the more efficient strategies, but forget that much of the fun of tower defense (or at least Arknights, I think regular tower defense may be different) is adjusting to failure and adapting to the stage and enemies with the operators you have. So if you do choose to play the original Arknights and stream yourself (or see such comments under your videos), don’t take all of the information given by players to harshly! We really do mean the best, we just have a needless compulsion to help players. 😅

First of all i love the lore and the story of arknights even though i just read 1/2 of it and my personal favorite are the seaborn arc and lone trail(prequel of endfield sort of) also babel And i have to admit the early story arc is straight ass and i almost drop playing the game for nearly 1.5 year so i highly recommend to just watch the anime because its easier to understand and not too time consuming
