The Armed | Role Models | Adult Swim

Detroit punk/hardcore/experimental collective The Armed have a way of doing things on their own and for their next trick, they got Tommy Wiseau of The Room fame to dress up in a swamp thing suit with batting gloves and react to the next single “Role Models” from their forthcoming LP Only Love. The video premiered within Adult Swim’s Toonami block this past Saturday night.

I can't speak for everyone else, but to me, it's just pointlessly weird. Why Tommy Wiseau? Why is he sitting on a sidewalk, wearing a rug, and waving around? Car Bomb Well, Luxury Themes, for me, is improvement that's for sure. It almost has that shoegaze/psych vibe which is interesting...but they just keep fuckin' around with that drum sounds...I don't know...but I just don't feel it, maybe it'll grow on me somehow

definitely does, but it also feels a lot like a track from untitled. the lead during the chorus and the chorus as a whole reminds me of nervewrecker, the drawn out outro is very much like the outro of the rage of youth i think. i dunno, the first two still haven't grown on me but i feel right at home while listening to luxury themes

Weirdly enough, tommys acting is better than in the room. The music is awful though... primitive chord progression and rhythm, unimaginitive lyrics and vocals. I bet the musicians think of themselfs as "doing something nobody has done before", "original" and "edgy". Its shit, and its frankly a little embarrassing seeing adult swim take them so seriously. Any kid with ADHD and a Laptop could make this in minutes.
