The Armenian Genocide, One Family’s Story exhibit traces the journey of Arek and Moses Zakarian from the turn of the 20th Century in the Ottoman Empire through genocide, survival, migration and reemergence in the United States. Made possible by the donations of the Zakarian grandchildren and sponsored by the Stockton University Master of Arts in Holocaust and Genocides Studies Program and others, the exhibit serves as an active learning platform for genocide education, with emphasis on the Armenian Genocide. Engaging students and other visitors through family photos, memoirs, musical instruments, artifacts and artwork, the exhibit was first presented at Stockton University in 2022, and continues on exhibition at other colleges and universities today.
