Edelgard is pretty much an armor knight. Not only her canonical class is armored, but in the DLC her advanced classes are Warrior and Fortress knight and her Cipher cards depict her as a Fortress Knight before the time skips kicks in and she gets her unique classes. As for her placement, do I really have to write about what makes Amyr being the best weapon in the series? I don't think I have to, right?

As a child I really struggled with chapter 6 of sacred stones. I kept being just short of saving the villagers, till I realized I could rescue drop Gilliam onto the fort. Base level Gilliam has 11 defence on that fort, and attracts every moving physical enemy, including the reinforcements, allowing your main force to go down around the village to the south and having to fight 2-5 enemies on the way to rescuing the civilians. This allowed me to reliably clear this map on my many playthroughs, with the side effect of giving a ton of exp to Gilliam.

Personally, I'd move Dalsin up out of "Wish you were better" because ANYONE is usable in Thracia. Scrolls made any character have stats, so Dalsin's only serious issue long-term is his movement + Armor movement penalties in some maps really hinder him (Most of the Manster Arc can be an issue if you LTC, Ch 9, 10, 12, 16B). Dalsin also faces one VERY INTENTIONAL bit of game design, and that's just how many enemies carry Hammers in Thracia. You really notice it once you use Dalsin after Manster, mostly around about Ch10 onwards. Dalsin's biggest issue I have, is he's so heavy, he makes the mounts who carry him have halved move. I would say that only matters in Ch6 & Ch7, 7 is only an issue if you don't cheese the boss & Cav reinforcements, and 6 you only need Karen to carry him for 2 turns over a wall, if even. In defense of Dalsin: Dalsin can use the Brave Axe at base that you get in Ch1, which makes him an excellent capturer & combat unit, because he now has access to a Brave weapon during the indoor sections of Manster before Leif/Fergus can use Brave Sword. His much higher Con let's him use it without penalty and allows Dalsin to be able to capture almost any enemy, which is great because generic enemies in Thracia are highly variable in many stats. Dalsin can also recruited by Lithis, who you can use as Capture Bait alongside Lara & Karin to make the final room of Ch4 easier, and with Dalsin switching sides, he can just take the Brave Axe from Lithis and kill a Bow Armor he stands next to before they get a chance to even begin their assault. Ch4x, Dalsin is a very good wall, as the Fire Mages are not very strong or fast and only the Armor Knights really pose an issue to him. Rest of the map is pretty much the same as Ch4, Brave Axe go brrrr Ch5, Dalsin does tend to lag behind, but this is a map where you want to go a bit slower unless you're LTCing, it's long and has some good rewards to go for (Speed Ring, Magic Ring, Silver Bow, multiple Physics, Pure Water, etc) and Dalsin is, at worst, a pack Mule at this point. At best, he is your best capture unit with that huge Con + Brave Axe. He ain't the most accurate, but you have Leif support + Charisma from Nanna to help patch up hit rates at this point. He is guaranteed to have enough Con to capture the Silver Bow Sniper & the Dark Mages of you want an extra Physic + Jormungandr tomes to sell. Ch6, Dalsin does start falling off, as he literally and figuratively starts to weigh the team down. There is a huge incentive to get out ASAP in Galzus and a fairly strong battalion of enemies at the top of the city. You do get Hicks this map if you just want a filler Cav to help move him along a tiny bit more each turn, plus your other Cav units (Fergus, Karin, Brighton & Nanna) all get their mounts now. Dalsin no longer has exclusive access to Brave Axe as he shares with the aforementioned Hicks & Brighton now. Ch7, I use Dalsin to block Cav reinforcements on Turn 2, and then slowly walk him towards the escape point with a little help from some cavs rescue dropping him along. He's just a warm body at this point who doesn't contribute anything unique anymore. After Ch7 I tend to drop Dalsin, as there are many better Axe units now and coming up soon (Brighton, Osian, Halvin, Dagdar) and Dalsin will be struggling in the next few maps due to Thracia's love of forest spam & ✨ Hammer Spam ✨ If Dalsin wasn't completely eclipsed so soon, he'd be much better, but those 3 maps of usefulness and unique utility shouldn't be underrated. A free Brave weapon is a free Brave weapon, especially on a high Con unit in Thracia. Dagdar don't need it for when he rejoins, he has bonkers stats & the Axe bros rejoin in Preps, so they don't need to hold onto it after Ch3. Give that sucker to Leif or Lithis to take it to Manster so you can keep using it.

On my 2nd Thracia playthrough my Dalsin got a movement level, so he actually was able to keep pace on indoor maps, and at general he even outpaced my unpromoted infantry! Obviously that was incredibly lucky , but hes been a staple of my playthrough so far. Armor knights are really fun when they get lucky level ups

This is why, despite it being "sUbOpTiMaL," I like giving boots to a good Armor unit. Nothing is as satisfying as some guy wearing a medieval tank zipping around the map almost as fast as the horses do eating up hits and dishing them out. This is especially true on my PoR Gatrie, who I gave Vantage and Provoke. He can just run into a group of physical units and draw them in like an electric bug trap💀💀💀

I love Gilliam. Lots of problems, not with him but with SS. Having Seth (debatably best unit in entire series) and Franz (debatably best cav in series, certainly best cav in GBA games) while later getting Dussel (amazing stats and growths) and even Kyle who ALWAYS works out well for me invalidates Gilliam. However, if you play the Lunatic mod that includes army split at the route split, Gilliam is debateably best unit in the game. Using Gilliam, I was able to solo ghost ship while holding Ephraim and using a few elixirs. It’s amazing how underutilized defense is as a stat in easy modes but how vital defense is in difficulty runs. I realized this when doing Lunatic+ in awakening and by chapter 5, MU was no longer getting doubled or taking physical damage and was one rounding everything with thunder. On Lunatic+…. Highly suggest doing the route split lunatic run and then do a Gilliam review!
@MythrilZenith7 ай бұрын
Gilliam's defense growth is alright at 55%, but his starting defense of 9 leaves a LOT to be desired. Defense is a fantastic stat, but Gilliam has all the downsides of an armor knight without actually having the overkill defense they're known for, at least until he gets a significant amount of exp and probably a promotion.
@ma.20997 ай бұрын
@@MythrilZenith I am biased as my Gilliam maxed out def at 17, and then was 4 shy of maxing speed prior to Promotion. Also had several res level ups meaning on lunatic rom, he doubled every thing. Steel axe didn’t weigh him down at all and still doubled slow monsters while holding someone.

having now finished the video, I think Kellam and FE1 Doga/Roger should all be a tier higher, and roger. Kellam isn't anything special, but thats basically every awakening unit. his bases are solid, his growths are fine, and pair up helps mitigate the armor movement issues. As for Doga and Roger, they have pretty meaningful bulk and can use swords, which are really good traits in fe1, and armor move isnt a huge hinderance durring the early game. Roger showing up shortly before minerva (aka a flyer with all his good traits) hurts, but hes definitely better than scrubs like the fe11 armors. I'd probably move jade down as well, like you say she shows up around the time Louis is falling off, but I'm a well known jade hater.

I think some of my more interesting armor knights are ones who aren't normally that path; the ones you shove in there because you want another wall for physical attackers (lance, axe, or sword) to smash against while your ranged (archers, mages of all types) blast them down. In three houses' case, the one I've been replaying of late, that includes Hilda and Fredrick, the closest to armor that their respective houses have to armor knights (barring Edelgard being an armor-knight lord; she's a fortress knight in the Cindered Shadows DLC, her lower-tier personal class is literally "Armored Lord", and both it and her upper-tier personal class, Emperor, are armored units)
@arceuskiller1155 ай бұрын
Kellam does very well as a thief and either promotion from there, assassin gives him a great stat line and trickster is great for support and kellam has better supports than anna. Also a few other build for awakening that Id recommend are fighter gaius, just make sure to get mov +1 first, and donnel as nahs parent, with aptitude her growths are insane, also virion as a wyvern is pretty good and he gives good mixed str and mag growths as a father. Also in awakening your best units are going to be robin, olivia, chrom, fredrick, and your first 2 second seal targets, until late game when gale force comes into play with child units and parents.

She finishe doff the cats and tigers who come thatbway, then i got the right tiger boss pinned next to one of the healing jars by him. Meg aron and eddie t99k turns wailing on him as laura and miciah healed them up. It took abit, but honestly i nevrr saw the appeal of bum rushing srlier part 1 maps for bxp. Meg got several lev3ls befote i got bored, and she went on to be a key part of the brigade. After i had zihark and Jill rejoin the mercs in part 3 Meg was a major offensive unit for me.

Echoes Forsyth should be in sometimes worth using as his join scenario pits him in echoes tiles maps but give him a enough whacks with Clive’s steel lance he can mitigate the hit loss with armor crush on the cavalry coming in the middle and occasionally would surpass Lukas in surviving witches due to having a useable speed stat and his extra strength in 45% can let him soften up foes much easier whereas Lukas is meant to take them Again just my speculation after 3 playthroughs of it but I really find echoes to improve many characters in the field compared to Gaiden especially the likes of Tobin Python and Atlas
@MythrilZenith7 ай бұрын
Echoes is significantly better for non-armor units overall. Combat arts, better weapons in general, and better class skills particularly on Dread Fighters. Armors are a mixed bag, because while they *do* benefit from weapon arts on lances they mourn the loss of the truly overpowered Speed ring from Gaiden more than probably any other class, except *maybe* the Gaiden mage ring for certain mages like Delthea. Forsythe is by no means unuseable, but considering the combination of low power at join and comparatively low payoff afterwards I think he is worse than the other armors in "sometimes worth using" tier enough to kick him out of it. But that's ultimately just my opinion. The Forsythe to be Reckoned With is still perfectly usable.
