Guehi is a perfect Arteta signing: intelligent, a natural leader (in a quiet way), two-footed, plays in multiple positions, and has the technique of a midfielder, but plays at the back.

What multiple positions?
@James-In-Exile3 ай бұрын
@@harryhunter9002 He's two-footed (although prefers his right foot), but is comfortable playing as the left-side centre back. This means he can play on either side of central defence - something that not all centre-backs are comfortable with. Imagine Gabriel Magalhaes playing on the right side... Guehi's confidende on the ball means he could fill in in other positions. His progressive carries are among the highest in the league, bringing him effectively into a defensive midfield position when Palace are in possession and attacking. In his past 48 games for Palace, he has played once at left back and once in defensive midfield - all the other times in central defence. However, it shows that he can do it. That could definitely an asset for a manager like Arteta, who values multifunctional players who are comfortable in different positions - not just in different games, but also sometimes in different phases of the same game.

Hey Tom, With Tierney, he gets injured so often now that I don't think we can rely on him even as a depth option, because we could put him on for one match and he could do a hamstring again and be out for the rest of the season. Pay him off and let him move on I say. I think he should take a long look at his injury record and move on from playing too, as he's just going from injury to injury, it's not a career any more and it's probably not good for his mental health to keep repeating the process of play a few games, get injured, take months of to recover.

Pretty sure what Everton, Chelsea and Villa are doing, sharing around assets in order to avoid punishment and mutual benefit could be characterised as a cartel...Yep. Also for some added Olise context, his agent was banned for six months for breaching rules around a future transfer of the player when he was at Reading. Seems those waters are a bit murkier than most.

Why are we continually being linked with defenders? We conceded the fewest goals in the PL last year without Timber kicking a ball and with Tomiyasu hardly ever fit … don’t get it at all

I am sure by the end of this Euros the Nico Williams hype balloon would have burst. His performance against Italy still lacked the end product ergo allowing the Italians to be in the game till the final whistle.

The premier league is going to need something to kick start the transfers, if the saudi league has now paused/slowed down and a majority of European teams are not able to meet big transfers at the moment, this maybe a very quiet transfer window in England.....

Kimmich is slightly flakey and unsympathetic. He was Germany's most prominent Covid denier, spread online disinformation, rejected medical advice, and refused the vaccination. He can also be incredibly blunt in confronting a trainer's tactics.
