At 21:00, no, it's not storage behind the door, it's the weights and pulleys that make the clock work. You opened the case in order to access the weights and pulleys so you could fix the clock if it was running fast or slow. In later clocks, it was fashionable to use glass doors on the front so you can see the shiny brass weights and chains. At 21:19, YES, the face is painted on a wheel behind the main clock face that turns with the time of day, sun during the daytime and moon at night. Very common decorative feature.

Just found you two today! Your videos are really well done and enjoyable to watch! I've not been to Williamsburg since I was about 11. Even at that young age, I was fascinated by the place and have never forgotten that vacation. Maybe that trip foreshadowed the history buff I'd become. I'm 54 now and I'd really love to go back as adult and take it in through older, more educated eyes. Not sure when or if that'll happen so I've looked for documentary videos on Williamsburg online. I've watched several of yours and am thoroughly entertained and fascinated by things I've learned (some of them all over again as I'd forgotten some of the history)!
