It was your video on your computer setup that got me into using Obsidian as a second brain. I have rejected most of the popular “methods” the gurus have crafted and literally just chuck the notes in a single folder and surface up what I want using dataview and a well defined frontmatter schema. Works for me. Global note search works the best when looking for something specific. Love the ideas pushed here about being more mindful on the actual process rather than focusing on the religions that are folder layouts that the “obsidian gurus” push on KZbin.

just keep your note in a flat folder structure mostly, and use links and tags to organize them. dont worry too much about folder structures. i use a para method, kind of but most of my notes are in one or two folders and the rest of the folders is like templates or assets or excalidraw drawings. and then query notes with dataview, and omnisearch fzf etc.

In Zettelkasten everything just lives in one directory. It's what I do these days

That is a good point about highlighting. But still I use it to create anchors in the text to mark pieces that impressed me the most. So I can get back to them without suspending my reading

Great video Mischa! One thing I could add to this philosophy is to emphasize having a process to review and hone your notes alongside a friction-less way to write stuff into the system. I believe you have the concept of the Inbox in your vault to this extent and it's something I'm adapting into my own system which revolves more heavily on my daily notes. Personally I think being able to write stuff down quickly to capture thoughts can be as valuable as integrating that information onto the wider system!
