I love the idea of people watching. I did a lot of that on my recent trip to Barcelona and it honestly inspired me to try different silhouettes that I would've never dared to try, I was also consuming a lot of inspo online but what's crazy is that people dress so differently in real life than say the fits you see on social media. Great video!

@@TheWorldOfEd You literally said it perfectly, real life is so different from social media, not that social media is always bad, but I love seeing real people and real personalities in real time! Barcelona is such a beautiful city, I definitely need to add people watching to my to do list for the next time I’m in the city 🫶

Super interesting points! I really like the idea of drawing on inspiration from real life rather than online, when I see something in person it compels me far more than Pinterest for example. Loveee your sit down vids queen

@@mia-h03Y Oh my goodness Right?? I’m so glad we are agreeing on this, there is just something about seeing confident women in public with great taste in personal style go about their day! And thank you for letting me know you are enjoying them, I’m definitely going to try and make time to do more!💗

@@Strateraa at this point personal style to me is more than been the flyest person or coolest pics. I mean those qualities still carry my judgment but they’re not the center

I love this conversation so much and I agree whole heartedly about fashion being a form of communication. A sort of precursor before anything is even said with words. The clip from the Brenda interview is a thought I've actually been having and developing more of lately about taste and how people acquire "good taste" and what that even means and my thoughts are far too much to type out in a comment haha but I will definitely be checking out the first website/article you mentioned

Thank you for taking the time to lay your thoughts out! I’m so happy you enjoyed the video and it was somewhat thought provoking 🫶 Yes definitely an interesting concept to wrap your head around regarding what Brenda said… but I think it’s also rewarding to understand how much power we can have in a room just by having a certain type of energy/ confidence that is complimented by how we dress. It can literally change the way people interact with us! Just to add on I have made a playlist on my YT with all my favourite interviews ( I will continue to add to it) , it’s public so you should be able to see it 💗

i had to ask my mom so many questions about the history of cameroun to understand the history between europe and african but also how it lands on me from afar directly and directly.

im african and i knew there was a feeling to clothes when i saw the stereotypes of how africans dressed and how i wanted to dress in saying im from another place but i dont want to affiliate with this corny african guy.

I’d be so interested to hear more and know what your mums thoughts are! I recently interviewed a guy from Cameroon for a project I was working on , he spoke so fondly of learning about style, especially emphasising his heritage, I think it’s really beautiful to see cultures that enjoy dressing so much, especially with colour, and the pride they take in creating pieces for different events. I feel like it’s definitely something you take and modernise to reflect your own style better 🌟💗

@@Strateraa my mom just told me how my grand grand grand was in in the German war dilemma that happened in Africa because Germany colonized Cameroon. And how he didn’t want to fight in the war so he’d wear women’s clothing to hide walking through the night
@BLEDZED
@BLEDZED 2 ай бұрын
@@Strateraa but yea Germany and France colonized Cameroon and weirdly those two countries have a very strong culture and aesthetic. To me a person from Cameroon but not affiliated to it like someone who has lived there past 15 yrs old I look at all cultures and see it’s similarities in shapes and design I’m like oh if you take everything away and just leave the drawings the lines the designs in some way they look like they could’ve came from the same place

@@Strateraa and IRONICALLY I used to wear my moms coats at school Bc I loved her clothes but it helped me escape the world I was living in. The war in my reality ie in my mind. That’s the escape!!!
