I agree, but i still watch oldschool stern. Oldschool now, being like 2012 erra and prior. Really liked the 1994 era most. However i got into stern late, being in Australia had no fucking idea it existed. Sal and Richard, let alone Fred, really kept the show going. Show really tanked in 2013 from what i've seen anyway. Watched a fair few years worth with the Tv version over the course of near 2 years straight, goes by "Artie TV" on youtube, howard in demand / E era. Anyway olschool shows and memories live on, i'll be their age still thinking of stupid bits that was on the show. Nothing today can compete comedy wise with the empire stern build. Lot of it has even aged exceptionally over time. Big shame with Norm and Gilbert also. Comedy is great.

Jackie is a really funny guy both in performance and behind the scenes. I spoke to him briefly after one of his shows years ago in Staten Island and then another time when he was selling his cd on Wall Street. I think it was Hot Dogs and Donuts. The police came by and had to break the news to him that he couldn't sell his cd on the street without a permit or else they would have to seize them. When Jackie had to break the news to Nancy who was there as well, it looked a live-action Stern show bit. She was cursing and screaming at him but he took it in stride and just gave out the cds to people for free. I was the last person there to actually pay for it before the police shut him down so the joke was on me. ;)

Artie's an entity unto Artie's self. That chair needed/needs to be retired. .You can put another body in it - but that body is not going to give you what an Artie Lange can/will. Artie was just a revelation - still can't get over HOW seamlessly Artie did that job. i.e. Like he'd been there all of Artie's life. Completely understood what the position required - . Artie's genius mode - even as an all-star third basemen they said the same thing. (plus Artie had a stick, could hit - could hit anyone) .

I think Jackie was making over 500K, which is way more than most TV writers get, and Artie was making 800K on satellite, which was kinda bullshit, since Artie got more integral to the show than even Robin in '07-'09. About what Andy Richter makes, though. A $1 million wack-pack compensation fund would be nice, considering the financials, but every millionaire in the world has horribly-paid servants. Is J.D. "talent"? It's murky territory. A clip-puller makes 40K elsewhere.

Artie took the show over - I don't know any OTHER way to describe. Artie's rise in popularity - i.e. Artie became syn to the show. Howard CONSIDERED Artie a peer - that's how much respect Howard had/has - for the A-List comedians. Howard LIKES it when others become popular OUTSIDE of the show. Makes Howard feel like someone else is pulling appropriate weight. -Artie was unbelievable in that chair - just unbelievable. . .

If Gary makes $500K a year for working 3 days a week, booking guests and watching Will do all the day to day crap, JD should make a lot more. I just feel sorry for some of the guys that work so hard for peanuts to make the show what it is. Howard's cleaner has nothing to do with the show. Since the show generates millions and millions, Howard should look out for those that make it what it is..If Howard "loves JD like a son", why not pay him enough to move out of the ghetto.

Yeah, pretty much. Apart from the occasional interview, i don't even bother with the rest of the show. There's hardly any substance to it, anymore. Nowadays, it's mainly just Howard berating the "schmuck of the day" and Robin constantly agreeing and cackling in the background. Even though she's not present in the studio these days, she has somehow managed become even more obnoxious with her inane quips. They've both become completely out of touch with their fans.
