Singularity is stan attractor song of BTS. That song goes viral monthly on Twitter. I guess it attracts so much attention from non K-Pop listeners bcz it is so different than usual K-Pop or even BTS songs. Tae is an old soul. The theory behind Singularity is about finding a balance when loving yourself without being narcissistic or hiding your true self. Like Ophelia in Hamlet loving everyone around her to the point where she drowns herself when she looses them. Alluding to the flower and water imagery because she lost her life picking flowers. And Narcissis (Greek mythology) saw his own reflection in a pool of water ,he loved himself so much when he reached out to get it he drowned. That's why there's a lot of mask imagery and V touching water. It's a beautiful song. 💜

This song's track was written by British songwriter Charlie J Perry and RM wrote the lyrics. (RM and the rest of the rapline are true lyric gods). I love the confusion on people's face when they first realized the arm and coat stand hahahahahaha. This song is pretty much his vibe & style. This is the type of music he enjoys. Now you need to listen to his other solo songs. Stigma & Singularity is very R&B, soul, jazzy feel. Winter Bear is more acoustic indie pop. Snow Flower is right in the middle of Stigma/Singularity and Winter Bear cause it has the acoustic sound but still full of soul. Sweet Night and Scenery are another great acoustic indie pop song by V. Then, you have Inner Child that have totally different sound than his other solos. Trust me, if you vibe with this song, you'd enjoy his other solo songs. His solo songs are pretty much the reason why he's my bias

Since everyone already talked about the song and his hands :D, I want to mention his stage presence. Tae owns the most viewed fancam in the K-Pop history with 131 million views. 131 MILLION views, even higher than some MVs. Well, all of his fancams are pretty much the most viewed ones. There are so many rookie idols who look up to him. He is called Idol of Idols and King of the Fancams. And the reason behind all these is his unmatched stage presence. His facial expressions are just magic. His face has its own choreography. You saw his seductive side but if it's a kinda goofy song like GoGo or Anpanman, he will act accordingly to the song. He will make goofy and silly expressions. The thing is he never performs a song in the same way twice, that's why people never get bored of watching his fancams again and again. It is just so amazing to me how he makes effort for his expressions, maybe he is amazing at that since he is already an actor. So yeah, it is pretty much the explanation why he has the most viewed fancams and why people enjoy watching him. His personality in real life is also really interesting. I mean, he is mysterious on stage, at the same time he is mysterious in real life too. This Mv and live comp are stunning in many ways with V’s presence and voice being the most compelling aspects. There are several stark contrasts as the colors and scenes change, but also between the beat (which is as you mentioned, jazzy and in my opinion sensual), and the lyrics which seem to describe the loss of ones self-identify through a significant relationship. V on the stage is masterful as I believe it is where he enjoys expressing his music the most which is evident in the smiles at the end. I had to laugh when you visibly became flustered watching him walk like a god after several seductive looks to the camera....we’ve all been there lol! @@YouandMe14 BTS rappers have mixtapes they put it on soundcloud for free for fans and to share thier music and to say what they want without company around thier heads more or less. Mixtapes are like albums but form is more free and a little different, usually it is fast put work you want to share but Boys put so much work in thier independent stuff and never rash. This term (mixtape) is more from hip hop culture, when rappers started they would put out mixtapes with work thay were proud of to share and gain fans, when they have labels then they make albums and even if they put mixtape it is usually free bc it is outside label, in history mixtape have a few artist on and thier best work and it was going aroud so people could heard different music and artist and share what they liked (bc there was no streaming platforms). There can be songs that don't connect in any way or it can be like album and have theme or simply things you what to say. It is usually max 10 songs around 3 minutes (bc first mixtapes were on tapes and there was no place so this short form stayed to this day) . In short: mixtape is a unofficial work with artistic freedom. (that is why it is for free even when it is very high quality. and it is also the reason why for example Agust D- Deachwita MV don't have BigHit logo on begining like BTS stuff.) In BTS you have: RM - RM, 2015 Agust D - Agust D, 2016 RM - mono, 2018 Jhope - Hope world, 2018 Agust D - D-2, 2020. This mixtapes where put on soundcluod but are on steaming platforms and YT. On BTS soundcluod you can find all solo work from BTS members that is not for band but SOLO work (put out for fans and to simply share), also a lot of covers and remixes. 😉

They also release individual cover songs and own songs on soundcloud.com/bangtan SUGA as Agust D, RM and Hobi have their own mix tapes out, we are waiting on KTH1 for almost a year now but it seems (according to KTH) that management is stalling a bit as they want some songs sung as a duet with a female singer and not with a male singer and KTH said in a vlive then he won't do the song. All his solo songs are more or less jazz influenced, his newest was a song for the OST of kdrama 'Itaewon Class' (on Netflix) called 'Sweet Night'. They do not sound like KPop at all.

The funniest thing about this song is that it tended to be on a lot of "sexy time" playlists and people who didn't know BTS had no idea that it's such a deep introspective song and the lyrics aren't sexy in any way, shape or form. Personally I prefer Stigma sonically but when Tae's on stage performing Singularity all my attention is on him and I remember how much I adore this boy. His charisma is out of the world and I really enjoyed watching his confidence grow over time with being a bit more sexy and mysterious on stage. Then 2 seconds later his boxy smile comes out and he's acting silly - that duality, man!

Btw, this is a part of the Love Yourself album trilogy. Basically the first album (LY: Her) is about how wonderful love is. In the second one (LY: Tear) that love grows to silence you and breaks apart. In the third album (LY: Answer), you realize that you are the one you should love first to be able to love anyone else. It's like an epiphany of realizing that you are amazing and deserving of love and celebration. You shouldn't compromise yourself for anyone or be apologetic for who you are even when you are respectful to others. So that's like the answer to the heartbreak in songs like this one. If you love yourself, you won't hide yourself and your feelings despite how in love you are with someone else. Loving and respecting yourself and knowing your boundaries goes hand in hand with loving someone else. Thus, you will take that mask off your face and not drown in the lake. 💞

That song is similarly stripped-back and super smooth. As for the meaning of "Singularity", you're pretty much spot-on! 👏🏼 It's basically about losing or hiding one's true self; basically compromising one's own identity to satisfy someone else. It can describe a relationship between lovers or can be about an internal battle. "Singularity" is closely connected to "Fake Love"; a song which holds similar meaning. They both feature on the Love Yourself 轉 'Tear' album ("Singularity" being the intro, and "Fake Love" being the title track). The Love Yourself series follows a journey of love, and explores the different emotional stages of being in love (and, ultimately, the journey towards loving oneself). ➡️ Each stage of the Love Yourself series is portrayed through an album (or concept video), but there are 'key' songs that clearly illustrate the stages’ narrative in a 'beginning-middle-end' kinda format. This song and video and the execution of the concept is such a great example of BTS's audiovisual storytelling, it really impressed me, the style is really so different and unexpected, the sexy R&B/neosoul/jazz vibe and V's voice and dancing also show his growth and maturity as an artist. I just rewatched a few of Brilliant's stage mixes but Singularity mix is one of my all time favorites, V is so mesmerizing on stage. Singularity is actually the introduction of LY:Tear album, which have FAKE LOVE as title track, hence the topic of the song is about masking your own emotion for someone you love, that in the end you lose yourself. When LY Her focus on the bright side of “love” or “loving” someone, LY Tear focus on the toxic side of too much loving someone else, where you no longer true to yourself. Then on LY: Answer they now realized that the true answer is loving yourself first. In order to find true love, they should love their self first.
