Thanks Marc, I've just finished watching all your Matrixbrute tutorials over the last two days in preparation for the arrival of mine next week, and I feel confident that I now have a good basic understanding of the synth. I'm looking forward to your explanation of the sequencer and hope you also cover the CV connections on the back. I don't want to miss anything so I can connect it to my other stuff and have mega fun. :)

After owning my MB for some time I must say the FX sound a lot better if you run a compressor in the insert and hit them a bit harder.

Great job as usual, I tried this for two weeks and think the chorus and flanger is very good, very transparent , clean , reverb is a weak link in my opinion but most of us have reverb fx already so no big deal.

Well, to be fair, while it says "reverb" on the panel, in the instructions, they call it the "Reverberator," and describe it in more creative terms. As a typical reverb function, it is quite odd and unique, and I think if people are expecting typical reverb, they're going to be somewhat confused. But I've found that it is a really interesting and unique effect, and I tend to favor it! It's spacey!

The reverb is kinda quirky, which is a nice addition, but it's the MB least used effect for me. Actually, I can't stop using the stereo delay, it sounds so good!

Between the "Fine Tune" and "Phones" knobs there is room for another one. It could be called "Auto Gainsay" and when you turn it you hear Professor Doty commenting on your patch.

You should be able to choose delay time as a destination and modulate it with the output of the keyboard, yes...

Thanks for this great video on the effects section! I've seen precious little on how they work in practice on the interweb so far. Re the mono delay: I assume it's delay time can go twice as long as the stereo delay? And that that's the reason for including it - especially since we can output the stereo delay in mono should we so please?

Firstly, thank you for putting up these videos. It takes a lot of work and I appreciate the value you've given us with these. I am really confused as to whether I should buy the Voyager RME, or this .. the MatrixBrute. The Brute seems to really crush the competition, including the Moog, in terms of feature set. A Moog. . . is a Moog but I'm having a hard time justifying the Voyager .. when effectively I can get either for exactly the same price.

I have a Matrixbrute and an RME Voyager. The sound of Moog is second to none, but the Matrixbrute is a lot of fun. A perfect combination.

With this synth you have more timbre variability , effects and modulation ... In my opinion go for maxibrute def ( you get a steiner parker filter too 😉 )

Great demo. I would like to ask if, once you are happy with the sound can you save it along with all the set parameters? Also is it possible to adjust the attack through thru the effects or is there an ADSR function?

Hey, I'm a recently new fan of your videos. I'm wondering what you think of the Prophet 12, and if a Prophet 12 series of videos would ever come forth? I'm in the market for a modern poly-synth to supplement my kiwi-3p, and the P12 seem to be a bit like a poly version of a Pro 2(which I'm really into) and capable of some crazy stuff. Cheers!

Man this thing just does not stop giving does it marc lol? I mean in terms of what I would consider more of a mono synth , although I know we covered thst it's not that's the role I'm gonna put it, this thing has the most functionality of any synth you've ever done. Also , and correct me if I'm wrong, but this seems like the longest running series you got. I mean we are at 22...and you haven't covered the sequencer /arp right?

Hey marc can I start Makin some requests for vids? I got a few in mind. anything pittsburgh modular but specifically the patch box which is basically a modular patchable guitar pedal allowing you to customize it w ur choice of euro rack modules cmon I know ur a multi instrumentalist lol, we know our own haha. and 2 anything modal like the 4 or 8 or whichever floats ur boat, and also the new roland Se 2 boutique, they partnered w studio electronics on this one and it sounds oh so juicy best thing roland has done in ages , and foe the love of god marc can I get a korg trident or a prophet 10 lol?

IMO the Effects section in the MB is its weakest aspect. The approach Behringer took with the DM12 gives much more instantly -pleasing results...

The effects present in the DM12 are digital. That doesn't mean they're not great, of course. The effects in the OB-6 are wonderful, but also digital (except distortion). I think the problem some people have is that they want effects to be production-style effects. They want world-class digital clarity in their effects, and since that's what everyone's been getting for decades, that's what they expect. It's the expectation that gets you. And that's true for ALL analog synthesizers. When people come at an analog synthesizer with some sort of industry or experience-based expectation, the synth has to adhere to that expectation for them to be happy. But why should it? If everything fit expectation, everything would start looking and sounding exactly alike. That's specifically the problem for a number of analog synths coming out right now. The effects on the MatrixBrute are NOT studio-type effects. They are analog synthesizer effects. They do what they do, and they sound great doing it... as long as you accept them for what they do and how they sound doing it. Because they are analog, they add a rich analog tone and character to the sounds put through them, which are possessed of great tone already. It makes for a truly analog analog experience, and I appreciate that as an analog synthesist. Typically, I shy from effects because digital effects, as clear and pure and seamless as they are, can easily erase or conceal tone. These effects do not do that, and that's why I appreciate them.

I totally agree. If you don't appreciate the sound of the analog fx just use a digital fx unit with the insert or use your vsts in your studio environment

agreed..sometimes it seems like the MB is alive when i have enabled delay and play no sound. What i do is run the MB into my korg kronos and use its fx processor. :) i also think using the MB effects it kinda destroy the original sound..

agree..i do not use the efx, but i totally love the MB. All the cool sounds i get from it and i can just sit and look at it..it also looks amazing :)
