Jamaicans are originally Ghanaians and mostly Ashantis. Check the Jamaican flag and that of the Ashantis. You will understand

Jamaicas and Suriname are countries with the most Ashanti Ghanaian descendants. Marcus Garvey was of Ashanti descent and so was Bob Marley, which is why his family home is in Ghana.

@16:12: That’s actually the Asantehenes elder sister. Their mom, the former queen mother, passed away a few years ago. They attended the Kuntunkunidie, a festival to remember ancestors. This year was significant in the sense that it marks 150 years since the third Anglo-Asante war where British troops invaded Kumasi.

The Ashanti/Asante were among the worse slave traders in west Africa. They caused untold huge generational damage to black people and in the process helped to set Africa back at decades behind the world in human development.

No, not really. It was people like these who sold Robbie's (and my) ancestors into generations of slavery in Jamaica. If Robbie's ancestors are looking down, they are probably wondering why he does not give the chief a good slap.

And BTW this another piece of critical history about Jamaica, did you know that Queen Nanny came to Jamaica not as a slave. But was actually sent by the then king of Asante to go and find and bring our people back. You really need to do some studies, and don't listen just to His Story.

She was Akan actually. She could be from any of the Akan group. Ashantis were rarely sold as slaves as they did most of the selling of slaves because of the numerous wars they fought.

@@SouthwardTwist not true the whole notion that we were the ones mainly selling slaves is a lie we maintained our empire and those we conquered became integrated into our kingdom Ashanti became a tribe in 1701 years after the slave trade really took off let us tell our own story
