In this joke the original commentor is very obviously implying that Rifts son does not come up with the ideas. The entire premise of the joke is that the son would be confused and weirded out by the situation because it seems so odd to him as he is not in on it. It leverages the idea that to the outsider looking in, these kinds of things seem very strange and alien. The fact that in real life Rifts son is helping him come up with ideas is completely irrelevant because the OP here is telling a joke where that is not the case. I'll give you another example of why your comment looks foolish. Here's a couple classic jokes. What did the duck say when he bought lipstick? "Put it on my bill!" What happens when a frog can't pay for his car? It gets toad away. What you said in your first comment is like saying "Ducks don't talk or wear makeup so I don't see how he could buy any." Or "frogs don't drive or buy cars so I don't see why it would get repossessed." Those facts while true, are completely irrelevant because In the joke they are not true. Despite being true In real life, a joke can set things up differently and or ignore facts in the effort to be funny. To point out that his son is fully aware of what Rift does is like pointing out ducks not talking or frogs not driving cars. It makes you seem like you didn't understand the joke at all and completely sucks the fun out of the playful facetiousness of the joke. So I guess to answer your original question; it doesn't make a difference, because it's just a joke that flew over your head. I wouldn't normally go in this hard over something so pointless but you had to turn around and call me dumb. Now I look like the asshole as I rightfully should I suppose.
