Seriously, Nozzie's existence is really a trip. Sure, he knows the circumstances of his death; but he also knows when he'll betray everyone and _why_ he'll betray everyone, but he has to hold himself together, and not let that reason "corrupt" him too soon, *and* go through the process of "discovering" that reason. Meanwhile, his corrupted self is working against him, and he knows how he's being thwarted, _and_ what it will take to overcome those barriers, but since he will not have been overpowered that quickly as Murozond he can't overpower himself that quickly as Nozdormu. And yet, Murozond also knows that everything he does is pointless, but still had to go through all this effort because his younger self saw him do it. No wonder Nozdormu is never around, guy must be _exhausted._
@abydosianchulac22 жыл бұрын
That's the cinematic that I want to see: the conversation that must have happened after Nozdormu first looked into his timeline with his powers and saw the reason for his betrayal. He would probably have wanted to fly off the handle and rebel right then and there if the reason was so bad he'd do it eventually, but then he's talked down off the ledge by a future Nozzie and, who knows, maybe Murozond himself. While the first uses all the logic and reasoning he remembers had cooled him down in the moment, Murray is all righteous indignation that _he_ be allowed to do The Work. Thus chastened, past Nozzie goes back to the rest of the Aspects, suddenly very wearied by all their enthusiasm of their ascension and hopes for the future.

So, I often wonder if time can change. If not, then the entire caverns of time dungeons were a waste of "time." If things CANNOT change, then the infinite dragonflight is not going to be able to stop Thrall, Medivh, Arthas, or (Well of Eternity) regardless if heroes went back in time to stop them. We could have just "not" gone and it still wouldn't have worked. Therefore, I am hoping that Nozdormu doesn't actually change. That we helped thwart his changing by (and this is the important bit of time travel and time magic) creating a NEW timeline in which Nozdormu sees the benefit of staving off the hour of twilight and refusing to betray everyone. Perhaps he sees the possible ends to a multitude of scenarios but nothing is set in stone until it is done over the course of time.
@__Insanity_2 жыл бұрын
@@superj-man137 In the words of an asshole of a former warchief: "Times change" Nozdormu was to protect the timeline, he is the reason the timeline is correct (which could mean the timeline shenanigans with WoD was technically supposed to happen) Murozond trying to change the timeline is more than likely a set thing, but also probably possible if Nozdormu thought it was whilst he was being corrupted. It's just that due to him also being there, it affected things. He may have been so thoroughly corrupted that he thought he could break the cycle of him dying to his past self. As we've seen before, the Old Gods and those of the Void can foresee events but their perception of it is too broad and accounts for multiple timelines or potential timelines or just impossible outcomes. It's strange and not very understood exactly, but it might be why Murozond is trying in vain to change things. It may be possible for Nozdormu to not turn or Murozond to actually change things. In short: "Time is a tangled web, try not to dwell on all the loose ends"

@@__Insanity_ lol, times change indeed. The whole alternate draenor was proof of that, new events that weren't possibilities in our timeline were made possible, (legions attack, sword, azerite, n'zoth) due to changing one singular incident (the orcs drinking the blood of mannaroth). So, I'm hopeful there is no need to change Nozdormu any longer. AU murazond may come to attack but that wouldn't necessarily be OUR Nozdormu.

We can see the Old Gods have caused some good, notably the "corruption" of the Titan constructs causing the birth of like half of the playable races. Though I agree that the wording Nozdormu uses could make it seem as if he's talking down to proto dragons about being lesser, it's likely not the case. In Dawn of the Aspects there's a clear distinction between the beastial proto dragons that can't even speak, and the ones (like the aspects) that can form simple sentences. Just like the proto dragons in Northrend don't seem to be smarter than any normal animal. The aspects were elevated to the dragons we know today, but that doesn't mean that there weren't other "smart" proto dragons that were not. And he doesn't say anything about this. I think what he's saying in the video isn't a distinction between the aspects and all other proto dragons, but simply the distinction between smart and beastial proto dragons that the book also establish.

A terrifying thought just occurred to me. What if Alexstraza herself is the BBEG and the Noz/Mur angle is a red herring to throw us off. They know that we know about Murozond. So they use our knowledge about him to trick us into focusing on the wrong Aspect the whole expansion; even using him (justifiably, since he is an important dragon) as part of the advertising for the Dragon Isles. And when I say Alex I don't mean a corrupted version of her. I mean she as she is; herself. Like, the Alex we've known this whole time was working with us because we aligned with her goals, but seeing her in her home territory shows us a side of her we didn't know. More specifically, Alex is a Titan servant and the Titans would want their world soul to remain in one piece. What if she has like an epiphany and realizes that "the mortal races of Azeroth", the folks who killed my brothers and sister and are cursed with flesh by the Old Gods, are the biggest threat to the world soul's safety and decides to do what she has been shown to do in the past; purge the few (the mortal races) to save the whole (Azeroth). No madness, no insanity, no corruption... Just Alex coming to a conclusion based on her position and observations. And then, with the last person on Azeroth he would consider his equal dead, Noz begins his decent into Mur...not through Old God influence, but grief (because he is now alone) and betrayal (from his makers). There's a thought...

worth mentioning too the emphasis on...change in physical form. The video focused really heavily on how physically different the aspects became from proto-drakes once they "ascended". different faces, longer wings, longer arms, etc. Then for Nozdormu to say basically "my story is written, yours is to come" and for Emberthal to step out and reveal, again, a new dragon form, a new body, a new shape of being suggests a kind of....passing of the torch, that the dracthyr represent the future or the next stage of dragon kind.

I think the word that Nozdormu was going for is 'pure', thinks about it since he doesn't really believe that (or does and won't reveal it), then wants to say 'young' and realizes that Azeroth is actually relatively the same age then as it is now, but then goes for young anyway, since the planet may be old as heck, the world that it is today was recognizable but young then.

(I know there’s the scene in between in which the other dragons breath their primal breath on him but actual forceful strikes it’s only Naltharion who strikes Galacrom) I don’t know if it’s a fact that he put him at the centre is to show how he was their creator and how important Naltharion was to Nozdormu and to symbolise how his betrayal was so monumental to both of them. With how much the titains are portrayed with holy light symbolism, I half wonder if in the "cosmic war" the titains have already conquered the light (or vice versa).

The ancient enemy returning is interesting, but it's perhaps too tempting to think of it on a cosmic scale. This expansion is starting on a smaller Azeroth scale. It's likely the return of those big primal elemental proto-drake aspects.
@4F0xSake2 жыл бұрын
But have the primal proto-drakes 'returned' surely they have been there the whole time and its the dragons that have returned?

I would like to add that there might be something to read into about Nozzie and Yesera. Could they have been an item long ago? That nuzzling we see in the cinematic might suggest as much.

I bet the next episode of Legacies is gonna detail the ramifications of the Titans’ “blessing” and how while some dragons we’re on board with this ascension and joined the Aspects. Others feared and detested it.

Something that I've noticed -- [spoilers kinda] The Titans dosed the water with Order Juice(tm) after Galakrond fell and the aspects joined their side, but most of those aspects are gone now. Instead, we have younger replacements-- meaning the new aspects are dosed with Order Juice(tm). What if the aspects dying off and being replaced was also part of the Titans' plan? What if Alexstrasza is next on the chopping block? And what if this plan was hidden from Nozdormu even with his time-travelling powers, and his discovery of it is what drives him to becoming Murozond?

The Galakrond origin is not a retcon. it's a change of perspective: We have a few retailling of Galakrond corruption: The chronicle are written "by the titans" and we learn in those new book in new Uldaman that Odyn, ordered to all titan, watcher , keeper etc... to not share information about the old god to any of the "lesser" organic species like troll, dragon etc... So a book written "by the titans" to explain the history of the universe to us (lesser organic species). So yes they will avoid giving us the truth about the old Gods, they will tell us the curated information that Odyn deem acceptable to give us (chaotic time that they single handedly solve) and I doubt they will admit openly that even imprison, Ygg-Sarron continue to influence the world around them. Sure when it's obvious like the curse of flesh, it's hard to hide. When it's subtitle in the far pass and no one was their to see the truth (corruption of Galakrond) why not hide that failure? Then the report in Uldaman written by the titan for the titan (so no need to hide information) and the Dragon perspective (as being told in Dawn of the Aspect) 3 point of view, 3 differents versions (and the version told by the titan to the organic creature, an the version told by the dragon (an organic creature) trusting the titan is very similar

A small point to raise re: curly cloud formations, when I look at them with the eye of someone that flies RC Airplanes I see the clear formation of wingtip vorteces. They're an aerodynamic phenomenon that exist all the way up to full-scale, and you can search videos of jumbo jets causing them as they fly through smoke, fog, or dense clouds. So, a fairly on-the-nose observation.

Don’t know if you forgot but “tainted with flesh “ was an old god curse of the Stoney boys that guarded the titan facilities… and if you align that curse of flesh up is that similar to “spark of life” idk just something I felt correlated

Something I was thinking about during the stream discussion about dropping the importance of Galakrond's cannibalism/mutation was that it was a direct pull from Starcraft 2's primal zerg. In the game it literally shows one primal zerg killing and eating another, then immediately growing new eyes. Maybe it's nothing, maybe they didn't want to look like they are stealing ideas from themselves.

I think there's a fourth(ish) option you're not considering when listing why the Fab Five are different colors while all the other Proto-drakes are greyish -- this is the story as told by Nozdormu. You know when you tell your friends a story from your life, and the you in the story is automatically the main character, while the other people in your memories are more background? As you pointed out at the beginning of the video, this isn't necessarily Nozdormu taking the drakthyr back in time, so much as showing her it, and I think that opens up the door for the fact that this is an artistic choice, but also one with some basis in the fact that from Nozdormu's perspective, this is *the story of the Aspects*. His story, his siblings' story. The other proto drakes are just the background characters.

WHAT!! No comment or opinion on the tender moment between Nozdormu & Ysera at 27:36??? I feel like Tali missed a wonderful opportunity there hehe.

I agree. Not all eyes have to be indications of the Old Gods. It was very obviously a dragon eye.

So, since Dracthyr were created with the power of all aspects, and since that figure she sees in her "flashback" has the shape of Nozzie; maybe the bronze bits that helped make her, also allowed her to have a glimpse of the future.

Maybe the five aspects in whom the spark of intelligence was lit are like the five torches that light the way. At least two of them were already old-gody. And the old gods "gifting" intelligence was retconned by the titan keepers as a curse

@CaptainSweatpants902 жыл бұрын
My personal head canon is that Elune is actually the titan Eonar, or another titan-related being closely related to Eonar anyway. According to the lore we know, Eonar was the one who empowered Alexstrasza and Ysera, and the area that leads to her boss fight in Antorus is called "Elunaria". So there is certainly some connection between the two characters, and since we have yet to see an actual, physical representation of Elune, it is very possible that she is actually Eonar herself.

It's interesting that we've been presented suggestions that none of the cosmic forces are inherently good or evil, but rather have their own interests which see them at competing odds with the others, but sometimes allying with some forces, leading to certain combinations. i.e: "Life, Light, Order." vs "Death, Darkness (void), and Chaos.", and "Light and Void" vs "Life and Death" The "gifts" from N'zoth / The Titans comparison is a great catch. It reminds me of 3 times I've seen something similar in WoW media before. 1. iirc, in The War of The Ancients books, when Xavius fails Sargeras, he is sent through a portal to be tortured for his failures. He is stripped of his flesh and his soul is direcly tortured. Eventually, Sargeras decides he is still useful, and shapes a new form for Xavius, the form that we know now as the Satyr. Sargeras also gave Xavius the power to reshape Highborn that proved themselves loyal to The Legion into more Satyr, which seemed to only solidify their loyalty. 2. In MoP, there is lore info somewhere about how the Mogu learned to Fleshshape from Titan archives, and experimented with this magical power on various reptiles or possibly "dinosaurs". This lead to the creation of the Saurok. 3. We see throughout the Shadowlands how souls can be granted new forms to inhabit, and that, at least in the afterlife, there seems to be a process of coming to terms with the inevitability of Death and dedicating oneself to their "Purpose" in the afterlife, unless one is a nature spirit meant to be reborn via Ardenweald. But Bastion specifically ha(s/d) a process for brainwashing newcomers to accept their role in the afterlife before getting a new standard issue body. It seems to me like the upper/middle management of cosmic forces having a means of reshaping the physical form and brainwashing entities is a norm in the WoW universe. And at the very least, infusing/infecting mortal races with energies is basically a daily game of chess for dudebros like The Titans and The Old Gods. Who's gon' win and claim the prize of Azeroth? Find out in the next expansion of Dragon-cough-Warcraft!
