Seriously, Nozzie's existence is really a trip. Sure, he knows the circumstances of his death; but he also knows when he'll betray everyone and _why_ he'll betray everyone, but he has to hold himself together, and not let that reason "corrupt" him too soon, *and* go through the process of "discovering" that reason. Meanwhile, his corrupted self is working against him, and he knows how he's being thwarted, _and_ what it will take to overcome those barriers, but since he will not have been overpowered that quickly as Murozond he can't overpower himself that quickly as Nozdormu. And yet, Murozond also knows that everything he does is pointless, but still had to go through all this effort because his younger self saw him do it. No wonder Nozdormu is never around, guy must be _exhausted._
@abydosianchulac2
@abydosianchulac2 Жыл бұрын
That's the cinematic that I want to see: the conversation that must have happened after Nozdormu first looked into his timeline with his powers and saw the reason for his betrayal. He would probably have wanted to fly off the handle and rebel right then and there if the reason was so bad he'd do it eventually, but then he's talked down off the ledge by a future Nozzie and, who knows, maybe Murozond himself. While the first uses all the logic and reasoning he remembers had cooled him down in the moment, Murray is all righteous indignation that _he_ be allowed to do The Work. Thus chastened, past Nozzie goes back to the rest of the Aspects, suddenly very wearied by all their enthusiasm of their ascension and hopes for the future.

So, I often wonder if time can change. If not, then the entire caverns of time dungeons were a waste of "time." If things CANNOT change, then the infinite dragonflight is not going to be able to stop Thrall, Medivh, Arthas, or (Well of Eternity) regardless if heroes went back in time to stop them. We could have just "not" gone and it still wouldn't have worked. Therefore, I am hoping that Nozdormu doesn't actually change. That we helped thwart his changing by (and this is the important bit of time travel and time magic) creating a NEW timeline in which Nozdormu sees the benefit of staving off the hour of twilight and refusing to betray everyone. Perhaps he sees the possible ends to a multitude of scenarios but nothing is set in stone until it is done over the course of time.
@__Insanity_

@@superj-man137 In the words of an asshole of a former warchief: "Times change" Nozdormu was to protect the timeline, he is the reason the timeline is correct (which could mean the timeline shenanigans with WoD was technically supposed to happen) Murozond trying to change the timeline is more than likely a set thing, but also probably possible if Nozdormu thought it was whilst he was being corrupted. It's just that due to him also being there, it affected things. He may have been so thoroughly corrupted that he thought he could break the cycle of him dying to his past self. As we've seen before, the Old Gods and those of the Void can foresee events but their perception of it is too broad and accounts for multiple timelines or potential timelines or just impossible outcomes. It's strange and not very understood exactly, but it might be why Murozond is trying in vain to change things. It may be possible for Nozdormu to not turn or Murozond to actually change things. In short: "Time is a tangled web, try not to dwell on all the loose ends"
@superj-man137

@@__Insanity_ lol, times change indeed. The whole alternate draenor was proof of that, new events that weren't possibilities in our timeline were made possible, (legions attack, sword, azerite, n'zoth) due to changing one singular incident (the orcs drinking the blood of mannaroth). So, I'm hopeful there is no need to change Nozdormu any longer. AU murazond may come to attack but that wouldn't necessarily be OUR Nozdormu.

I think a really interesting detail is that while Malygos and Neltharian are buddying up, we see Nozdorumu and Ysera sharing a celebratory head rub, which is as far as I’m aware our first indication that they had any kind of especially strong bond among the 5 Correct me if I’m wrong of course, but generally the Aspects were paired off as Ysera/Alextraza, Neltharian/Malygos, and Nozdormu was the odd one out with no particularly special bond referenced outside of their general bond as Aspects

That is solely after he becomes Aspect, and it's BECAUSE of his visions of the future. He knows what happens, he knows he falls to corruption, he knows he will alter events that lead to their deaths. I'm calling it now, Murozond outright kills Alexstrasza this expansion, after/as he becomes Murozond. That completes the deaths of the Aspects, ending their reign. New dragons will take their place as Aspects.

I think another thing that's worth noting is that the last memory Emberthal has is Neltharion abandoning her right before the dracthyr were imprisoned. And, given that in the early stages of their start zone the other dracthyr keep asking where Neltharion is with concern and confusion, my knee-jerk thought is that Emberthal was the only one left alive to WITNESS Nelth abandoning them (presumably on the battlefield that she remembers before Nelth looks at her and turns away). Just some thoughts!

I think it's important to remember, Dragons (and Proto-dragons) are creatures that derives from the elements, which is part of the domain of Life, making them beings of Life, but then the modern Dragons were infused with Order magic (arcane) creating a wierd mix of Life and Order in one creature. I wonder if that has any implications.

For some murozond theory, the very beginning when he runs his finger down the axe, it's 100% Villain trope energy and that's all I could think about the whole time. Either way, a retelling of descent of dragons/rise of galakrond Hearthstone story would actually be pretty sweet. Rafaam being in the game now kinda hints at it. Also, a year of the dragon Megadungeon would be insane. Start with the Dalaran heist from rise of Shadows, going through the 4 plagues in Uldum, ending with the introduction of the raid being descent of dragons/galakrond awakening raid. Shut up and take my Money.

I love the comparison you made between the Azshara transformation and the Aspect transformation. This comparison between the two coupled with the idea that perhaps the Titans lied to us about the Old Gods and the Black Empire reminds me if the themes from Legion where we learn Light does not necessarily mean Good and Void does not necessarily mean Evil. FFXIV also played with these themes, where the light is evil and the darkness is good in one world and the opposite is true in another. I wonder if we'll find out that both sides actually have complex motives that could be construed as good or evil depending on who you ask.

I don't think they're going to go so far as to paint the Old Gods as a force of "good" but I definitely like that they're stepping away from the Titans being the perfect gods of the universe. If the Old Gods are the embodiment of Chaos, and the Titans of Order, surely the ideal world contains a balance of both. We can see the Old Gods have caused some good, notably the "corruption" of the Titan constructs causing the birth of like half of the playable races. Edit: as SA N pointed out, I got my cosmological forces mixed up, which actually makes the situation MORE interesting, in my opinion.

@@zakarymoninger7845 might be the case friend but I really can't see why titans be portrayed as bad. I have yet to see a good reason in pre-established lore. It’s kind o cute knowing she’s a dragon being and yet sounds a little scared of this small elf guy in front of her. Like she isn’t aware of what she’s capable of, or too confused in the moment to really appreciate her own strength. A nice way to show the mystery she finds herself in.

A terrifying thought just occurred to me. What if Alexstraza herself is the BBEG and the Noz/Mur angle is a red herring to throw us off. They know that we know about Murozond. So they use our knowledge about him to trick us into focusing on the wrong Aspect the whole expansion; even using him (justifiably, since he is an important dragon) as part of the advertising for the Dragon Isles. And when I say Alex I don't mean a corrupted version of her. I mean she as she is; herself. Like, the Alex we've known this whole time was working with us because we aligned with her goals, but seeing her in her home territory shows us a side of her we didn't know. More specifically, Alex is a Titan servant and the Titans would want their world soul to remain in one piece. What if she has like an epiphany and realizes that "the mortal races of Azeroth", the folks who killed my brothers and sister and are cursed with flesh by the Old Gods, are the biggest threat to the world soul's safety and decides to do what she has been shown to do in the past; purge the few (the mortal races) to save the whole (Azeroth). No madness, no insanity, no corruption... Just Alex coming to a conclusion based on her position and observations. And then, with the last person on Azeroth he would consider his equal dead, Noz begins his decent into Mur...not through Old God influence, but grief (because he is now alone) and betrayal (from his makers). There's a thought...

My personal head canon is that Elune is actually the titan Eonar, or another titan-related being closely related to Eonar anyway. According to the lore we know, Eonar was the one who empowered Alexstrasza and Ysera, and the area that leads to her boss fight in Antorus is called "Elunaria". So there is certainly some connection between the two characters, and since we have yet to see an actual, physical representation of Elune, it is very possible that she is actually Eonar herself.

The Adventure's League trio haven't done anything particularly noteworthy, just handing out generic Adventurer's League-related quests but Rafaam could easily shake things up as he's an "Arch-Villain" and not an ally and could be tied to Galakrond in a raid somehow.

I love that the Proto Dragon Aspects use very D&D Dragon-like attacks. Very "basic" and "standard"; Fire, Cold, Thunder/Force, Poison...it feels like it's a nice nod to where a lot of their lore came from initially (when WC2 red dragons were basic "Fire Breathing monster") and their new forms are more unique to Warcraft/WoW (Red being Life, Black being Earth, etc.)

worth mentioning too the emphasis on...change in physical form. The video focused really heavily on how physically different the aspects became from proto-drakes once they "ascended". different faces, longer wings, longer arms, etc. Then for Nozdormu to say basically "my story is written, yours is to come" and for Emberthal to step out and reveal, again, a new dragon form, a new body, a new shape of being suggests a kind of....passing of the torch, that the dracthyr represent the future or the next stage of dragon kind.

Didn't notice this be mentioned in the video but when comparing the ashara scene to Alex transformation - when the eye appears behind ashara, the circle of sand that spirals looks a lot like an eye with Alex as the slit pupil before nozdo steps in front of it.

So this entire video is making my little meta-loving brain explode with happiness! The way you explicate on a single phrase "I *was* the bronze aspect" reminds me of writing term papers in college. Tali, did you study any sort of Lit or Media Criticism in school? Because DAYUMN it tickles that part of my brain so hard!

I think you could have touched the eyes of emberthal a bit more. It was switching often from focused / "I see you as enemy or threat" to "wow what is this :O" to "okay let's reconsider". I think the work on her eyes was just great!

Also, the last two expansion major arcs give me hope that Blizzard is going for a PROPER Grey Morality instead of "Our guys had prison camps where they killed kids but the OTHER side ate babies!" Like the idea that the Titans aren't GOOD. They're just NOT Old Gods. The Light isn't good. It's just not the Void. The idea that these amazingly powerful beings beyond our understanding aren't on our side. It's less "We are protecting the Mortals" and more "Stop screwing with our stuff". Petty squabbles where one side sees us as little more than curiosities and one sees us as prey. Or maybe they both see us as Curiosities, and one side just wants to see what we can do for them and the other wants to see what they can do *TO* us.

I bet the next episode of Legacies is gonna detail the ramifications of the Titans’ “blessing” and how while some dragons we’re on board with this ascension and joined the Aspects. Others feared and detested it.

Though I agree that the wording Nozdormu uses could make it seem as if he's talking down to proto dragons about being lesser, it's likely not the case. In Dawn of the Aspects there's a clear distinction between the beastial proto dragons that can't even speak, and the ones (like the aspects) that can form simple sentences. Just like the proto dragons in Northrend don't seem to be smarter than any normal animal. The aspects were elevated to the dragons we know today, but that doesn't mean that there weren't other "smart" proto dragons that were not. And he doesn't say anything about this. I think what he's saying in the video isn't a distinction between the aspects and all other proto dragons, but simply the distinction between smart and beastial proto dragons that the book also establish.

I don’t know if this has much meaning to it but I noticed that during the fight with Galacrom both times Galacrom is struck in the video it’s Naltharion who strikes him. The first strike was Naltharion and then final strike had Naltharion at the centre of the attack. (I know there’s the scene in between in which the other dragons breath their primal breath on him but actual forceful strikes it’s only Naltharion who strikes Galacrom) I don’t know if it’s a fact that he put him at the centre is to show how he was their creator and how important Naltharion was to Nozdormu and to symbolise how his betrayal was so monumental to both of them. It’s probably just a reach but it was just something I noticed.

With how much the titains are portrayed with holy light symbolism, I half wonder if in the "cosmic war" the titains have already conquered the light (or vice versa).
