Stefan, if god is omnipotent then it should also follow that “his word” should require no interpretation, not a lick of tap dancing to clarify or defend, as this god would be the greatest writer/orator in existence and would have zero problem communicating their message to every brain in existence seeing as how this god would have engineered them every one. Also, I agree with Matt and Aron. An omnipotent (especially should it not be a trickster/tool of a deity) wouldn’t express their eternal message in book-form as they could easily project said message into the minds of every individual and/or pay each and every one a personal visit.

About the news and history thing, i don't understand why. I live in germany and i think i don't have to tell anybody what germans did about a hundred years ago. We don't ignore that, we get 2 years of history class ONLY on those two world wars AND half a year of pedagogy AND a year of politics AND half a year of social studies class on that topic alone. I don't understand why americans try to ignore their past like that. I think it is massively important to know about that to not repeat such errors of the past. We today also have a rise of religious right winged extremists, that are supported by or themselves Neo 88lers in disuise. Our news are full of that. @LunatheMoonDragon3 жыл бұрын
That would be nice, and the internet has definitely done a lot of good in this regard. But the opposite is also true. Things like conspiracy theories have gotten more traction and believers over the internet than ever before. These people who would previously have had to stand and shout in a street corner now have a massive platform to assert all their bullshit as fact, and are able to gather all the other fringe idiots in one place, creating even bigger echo chambers than was ever previously possible. This gives them the numbers and the platform to spread lies and reach people who wouldn't have otherwise heard or believed. It's more like what the internet is doing is destroying the middle ground. There used to be a huge population of people who were religious because that's how they were raised, but never really had to mentally address their religious beliefs as they conflict with reality. But due a large part to the internet, those people in the middle are now being driven to either atheism, or deep into the recesses of extremism and conspiracy. It's actually very dangerous, and the fight is more important than ever!
@n.presley9172 жыл бұрын
unfortunately it's not as simple as "[more] true facts are available". any given individual still, at some point, needs sources of education/information they trust. the enemy is any religion/culture that trains its members to distrust valid sources of sound information.

Mocking the fear of death as irrational isn't a good look. Whether you're religious or not, the fear of death is very normal, and it takes a lifetime of addressing it and slowly working to accept it for most. Much like the concept of infinity, the concept of death is something that the human mind cannot comprehend very well, if at all. I don't think you're being mean on purpose or anything, but when I see comments like this that belittle the fear of death as a stupid thing for anyone to have, I try to speak up because we should be doing exactly the opposite. We should be willing and open to talk about our fear of death, and work toward death positivity!
@gabbylind38653 жыл бұрын
@@LunatheMoonDragon please show that every person that wanted to be remembered well after they pass has that desire because of fear of death. Statistics deal with smaller sub-sets of populations in order to make inferences about that larger group; a population is everyone or everything that could be possibly captured by a particular measurement. When referring to the population as a whole, measurements are properly called parameters. If we take a smaller number of all the 15-24 year old males in North America and ask them who smokes, we are establishing a statistic about that whole group (population) and then we may infer (controlling for other variables such as wealth) that it's also true for the whole population of 15-24 males. Political polls are the most common way most people experience this kind of calculation. If we ask every 15-24 year old male in North America if they smoke, we are measuring a population parameter, not a statistic. However, that measurement of that 15-24 males is a statistic of all the males in North America from which, if we know the rates of starting and stopping smoking, we can infer how many older males will still be smoking for their age groups. That whole number of males, if we asked all of them if they smoke, is a parameter of the population of males in North America, but a statistic of all the humans in North America, or all the males in the world, etc.
