As a fellow Mexican and devout Catholic. Jesse Romero did an excellent job explaining how this cult works, its history, and how it has easily deceived fellow latinos that this satanic cult can be in harmony with our Catholic faith. Sadly I have meet many people who have fallen into this cult. This is why it is important to share our faith, its history, apologetics, and simply be willing to answer the difficult questions of why we believe x,y,z and practice x,y,z as Christian Catholics. Heck even fellow Mexicans who are Catholic wear the infamous "evil eye" jewelry and don't even know how bad it is for us Christians to wear those things and many other mundane and mainstream pagan stuff (like horoscopes). I was into witchcraft many years ago and a local witchcraft shop in Denver had an altar dedicated to her and someone stole all of the offerings that were on it. The shop asked everyone to come leave a new offering to replace what was stolen and I planned on going to give one even though I knew nothing about her. I just wanted to be a good community member and supporter of those that did follow her. The night before I went I was walking on the side walk and it was like someone kicked me sideways in the knee and I fell to the ground and could not walk or put ANY pressure on my knee for three days. It was excruciating. I’ve never had issues with that knee before or since and I 100% believe it was God protecting me from leaving an offering to her or maybe she just really hated me. Thank you. I have a past that involves neopaganism and worship of dark pagan European "deities". I've renounced that life. It seemed to be light and pay off in the beginning but then I was drawn down increasingly dark and destructive paths. I believe I was suffering demonic oppression as I had developed compulsions that I knew to be immoral, and that I was disgusted by. I was fighting them off with my will but it was becoming harder. Then I got the sudden insight that these pagan gods and goddesses were really demons. I broke down and burned everything I had that was connected to my neopaganism and occult beliefs and practices. I cried out to God, to Jesus to forgive me. I was raised a Protestant in a church that became progressive. There was so much ecumenism and universalism that it had led me to believe falsely, that all spiritualities were a legit path to God. I googled info on how to resist demons and that brought me to Fr. Ripperger's work. I prayed the Auxillium Christianorum prayers every day. I felt dark spirits leave my midst completely by about the third month. It was a hard battle. I had so much self-loathing. One presence remained, a beautiful, gentle, loving mother. It was Mary and I knew then that she helped save me and lead me back to her divine son Jesus. I started studying Christianity and when I did, I learned that the fullness of the faith is in Catholicism. I am now a very grateful, confirmed Catholic. My life has improved in every way. I am not perfect and I slide into self-loathing and sloth sometimes. When this happens, it is because I've been neglecting my daily prayers. Yes, we need to stay close to God, keep talking to him, praying, and spending that time to grow our relationships with him.

I got attacked by Santa Muerte hard. I was baptized by the Catholic Church when i was 3-4 years old but that was it. Nobody ever took me to church or Sunday school or anything. My grandma did teach me some prayer but thats about it. So i didn't grow up really religious. When i was about 20 my cousin came up from Mexico. A couple months later. I developed Depression, anxiety, and confusion. My gut was telling me i was being spiritually attacked. A few weeks later cousin let some family know he was worshipping the Santa Muerte. I knew then it was him. This was some of the darkest times i ever lived. I was tormented. One day I punched him in the face and he knocked out. I had to take some power back and show him he has no control over me. And I continued living like that. Then 3 years ago I got sh*t in the chest and I almost didn't make it. But God never left my side and always sent me messages because he knows even tho I'm a sinner theres no evil in my heart. Fast forward this year i began reading my NKJV Holy Bible, and Praying. As well as Praying the rosary. Lets just say i should've started a long time ago 😉 God is Good 🙏🏻

Come to South Texas! Santa Muerte shrines are being placed in Catholic Churches (right around Halloween) at the front of the church next to the sanctuary to celebrate "Dia de los Muertos." They've been doing this for years. People walk to the front of the church to light candles & pray to the Santa Muerte, even Anglos! It looks like Halloween decorations. It's disgusting! The bishop is well aware of this and condones this practice. We have complained to priests about this but they just turn their backs to us and walk away. We are told that it's "part of the Hispanic culture."

I was at a Holiday parade this weekend in Iowa and someone had this costume on!!! I did not know all of this information when I saw it but it felt off to me. In a little town called Newman ca there was a huge statue like this. This store sold all kinds of dark things. I had just moved there. Now the Catholic Church was two blocks down the street. I asked why nothing was said or done. I was told s as few people questioned it but Father Jorge was not interested. We got prayed up. My husband and I walked back and forth sprinkling blessed salt. The business closed within a few months. This was a thriving business. Eventually it reopened as a coffee house. I asked the new owners if they’d experienced anything unusual. She said yes many misfortunes and a stench that was near impossible and still not removed. Some kind of ritual ruined the floor. She didn’t know about the previous business. I took her some blessed salt.

There you will see the Eucharist and Mass, along with the Sacraments established by Christ. Every Christian from the time of the Apostles all the way through to the 15th century attended Mass and partook of the Eucharist (the Real Presence of Jesus) until reprobate heretics claimed they knew better than Jesus and the Apostles. I had a friend, from mexico, once who told me that Santa Muerte was different than Santeria but she didn't say how. This same friend said that she prayed to Santa Muerte because in life there are only two things that are certain: life and death. I remember being in a bus with American missionaries in northern Mexico. We were traveling from one town to another and it was a bright, sunny day. We approached what looked to be a shrine. We stopped in front of it and it was a shrine to La Santa Muerte. No one said a word. We all just stared, trying to procees what we were looking at. The imagery was extraordinarily colorful and intricate. But there was an eeriness that radiated from it that I've never forgotten.

It’s sad but my father’s side of the family currently practices santaria and they are “Catholics.” They’ve tried to use curses on my father but we pray for his protection daily. Unfortunately, my aunt (dad’s sister) passed away many years ago and she was into the occult. My father found a statue of La muerte outside her window the day she died. He was so freaked out. He took the statue to a priest/church. He didn’t know what to do with it. People do have statues of La muerte. There was a taco stand in CA that had an entire alter next to their stand. It was scary! This is very popular/ common in our Mexican culture.

The day of the dead is November 2nd, on All Souls’ Day, I’m not 100% sure but I believe it is the same thing but in secular Mexican culture, their idea is hat the souls of dead relatives would come back to be with their loved ones while traditionally in Catholicism, it is a day to pray for those souls that have passed away that cannot return to be with us. Kind of similar but with different intent; to remember the dead, the Catholic take is the correct one and the secular one is obviously wrong.

Mexico is a multicultural, multi racial society. Much of this religious syncretism and poor catechesis is often found in those Mexicans that are primarily indigenous or descendants of those indigenous that were baptized. Those Mexicans that are primarily direct descendants of those Spaniards do not have this religious syncretism. I once asked my father why we did not do any altars for the day of the dead, and my father told me that it is not part of our customs or traditions. I come from the highlands of Jalisco and our Catholicism as well formed and very traditionally, Iberian/southern European and any Mexican will tell you that those Mexicans from that region are very European in our features, and in our customs.
