I had the LCD-2 revision 2 (non fasor) and it blew my mind too. The most fun I've ever had with any bit of audio equipment I have experienced. They really did make listening to music an event each time. I have had a couple of dozen pieces of audio equipment over the years and all have been a minor improvement if at all over the last piece. Not so the LCD-2. The positive differences to other headphones I have had were astounding and quite shocking. After a couple of years I "upgraded" to my current LCD-3 (non-fasor). While the LCD-3 may be more accurate and have a more balanced sound (the LCD-2's can be a bit bass/mid heavy), there is no magical audio dust sprinkled on then like the LCD-2 had. I would recommend anyone thinking of a pair of Audeze's to go for the LCD-2.

Rocking LCD-Xs here! Retain all the awesome audeze house sound, adding clarity and power, plus an even more terrific soundstage, which is probably the best between all the line, maybe just bested by LCD-4/Z. With the creators package special these are just 1199 $, and possibly the best for the buck even up to 2000$ category. Highly recommended!

@correzzana19923 жыл бұрын
@@popops3 Man, my answer got cancelled when I was about to write the last line, I'll try to sum up, I won't be detailing sound differences as you can find really sooo much online... Ignoring specific personal taste or specific usage, and looking objectively at the specs, go with the LCD-X if you can, especially if the price difference is not too much important, definitely worth the extra money in any case. Much more versatile headphones, which give its best with all music genres, and are also spectacular for movies, gaming and professional use (I'm a music lover 1st, but who doesn't love this stuff too? but again your mileage may vary). Last important thing that some forget, LCD-Xs can be basically run out of any headphone jack compared to LCD-2, as the low-impedance doesn't require you to use a powerful amp, and maybe be more suited to your situation. It's a plus, but if you're buying such headphones I hope you're having high-quality amp/dac anyways, or it's really not worth it.

@@correzzana1992 thanks a lot, I asked because I think I got a bad pair, they sounded good but I bought them to compliment my ananda that lacks bass, and they nearly had the same bass slame and even less extensión. So I was also intrigued by the lcd 2f but didnt find a lot of comparision online, only with the lcd2 c. I think my equipment is okey smsl sp200 and m200 stack. So now Im pretty shure I did get a bad pair since they should have noticeable more bass punch and slam than the ananda. Great video Steve! I recently spent time with the Audeze LCD 2C, LCD X, and the LCD 2F in order to finally pull the trigger on one of the headphones I’ve been after for quite some time. I ended up with the LCD 2F. Granted the LCD X is a bit more expensive and the Classic is a little less of a wallet killer but I was ready to take the plunge. The LCD 2F was the sweet spot for me! I’m not sure that I’ll even be looking at any other headphone for years to come. I spend an average of 3 hours with these in my head every day and I’ve had just about every common higher end headphone there is over the decades. These really are special. The combination of LCD-2's and a Schiit Lyr 2 headphone amp was spectacular. Ton's of atmosphere and bass slam. I also bought Audeze's own Deckard headphone amp, but it just couldn't get anywhere near this in combination. I still have my Lyr 2 and have upgraded to LDC-3's, but I am now using an SPL Photor X headphone amp, which is far and away the best solid state amp I have heard. I have recently invested in a pair of HD650s and the Schiit Modi/Magni stack. I have had them for a week now and I think I have come to realize that I may not be an audiophile. I do not care about neutrality over everything. I only care that it sounds good to my ears (which is why I got the 650s which is known to be warmer than 600s). So my message for people trying to get into audio is don’t worry about having to spend large sums of money to obtain the best audio experience. As Steve says many times, there is amazing equipment out there you can buy for cheap. Just get something that makes you happy and don’t worry about the audiophile label.

"I do not care about neutrality over everything." The irony is that, if you chose either the 600 or 650, then you probably do. They are two of the most neutral headphones around. Their differences aren't that great. A lot headphones, especially the Audeze line, are really coloured. For their high end stuff a lot of manufacturers don't even shoot for neutrality. Some have professional models that come close. In the Sennheiser lineup it happens to be the 6xx models.

I've owned mine now for around three months, the 2020 model in Shedua Wood with the new headband and you are correct, Steve. They are robust in powerful presentation and yet at the same time they are effortless. The thing is, I prefer them EQ'd a bit to really make them shine. I'm nearly 60 years old and between the live concerts, loud stereo listening and a fully loaded truck full of expensive gear back in the 90's I just don't hear as I used to as a kid. And while that may be so I can still hear the upper frequencies as I could before with just a little bit of effort. To be sure this is a bit of a heavy pair of headphones but the new headband makes it possible to wear them for 6-7 hours at a time and I really only notice how heavy they are when I pick up my HD-600's. OMG they weigh nothing at all! unnecessary expenditure

I have the LCD-2C, and I HAD the LCD-2F. I sold the F because after using it for 4 months, I needed a 8 month break from the neck pain/migraine it gave me (bare in mind I used it mostly for gaming). Its a personal opinion so obviously take it with a lot of salt. In terms of the largest difference that I noted is that the LCD2C does not sound as ethereal (meaning you dont feel like you are listening to a headphone but just to pure music) when it comes to the highs. Everything else (mids and base) does feel like that, but once there is a lot of different frequencies mixed, the LCD-2C feels like it is missing in that department. IF the lcd-2F was as light as the LCD-2C (and had that headband, but I think you can buy that) I would get the LCD-2F 10 times out of 10. meaning I prefer the sound of it. However, Due to the fact I CANT use the F version past 45 minutes its a total deal breaker for me. Finally, due note that I use a Asgard 1 and Bifrost multibit, and those are supposed to warm up the sound, there is a good chance that I am overdarkening the LCD-2C (I dont really have anything to compare them to except lower quality gear), so take that into the variables as well. So, do I miss the sound of the LCD-2F? yes. Do i feel like I am missing out with the LCD-2C? No. Kinda Like the HD600, I just dont feel like i am missing out till I use the LCD-2C. In other words, I would advice to go for the LCD-2C unless you KNOW you want the F (and yeah, try them before you buy them it at all possible, just be aware that the weight will NOT go away).

I've happened on this video while trying to find reviews on the Audeze LCD 2 closed back (a new LCD 2 version). It would be great if you gave impressions on all the current "big 3" planar magnetic headphone brands (HiFiman, Audeze, Mr Speakers). I've gone ahead and pulled the trigger to see how the LCD2 closed sounds (haven't heard the Audeze sound yet...my previous prefered dynamics headphones have been Sennheiser, so I'm suspecting I'll like the tonality). I've now started a job which requires me to have isolated headphones, and I first got Mr Speakers Aeon closed back (there seemed to be more glowing reviews on it). It is a very comfortable headphone and has some great characteristics. The imaging is sublime, and it has great vocals and presence. From what I'm gathering from online impressions, the LCD2 closed has some more bass and detail then the LCD2 open versions. It's also apparently a heavy headphone, so it'll be an interesting compliment to have the Mr Speakers and Audeze at work.

I knew very little about headphones in this price range, when I two days ago went to spend time listening too headphones. I shortly climbed up from other headphones to give LCD-2 a go. I got impressed! After a while I got to try the Classic, and it got unboxed right there and then. My comment to the owner of the store was; 《To think this was never ever played on before, and unboxed in front of me, I'm simply tremendous impressed! Way more life and depth》. When I get the money for it, I believe I choose the Classic, even though I think the predecessor looks way moore amazing. I guess the sound is what really matters in this case. By the way, the headphones comes with a case for transport! I even believe it's an Pelicase!! 👍🏻

In my opinion the sennheiser hd 660s is overall better and cheaper in price.

Audeze is like A Pontiac GTO HI-Fi Man is more like a European Or Japanese Sports Car. America wants more SLAM!!!! Japanese and Europeans are less about the SLAM!!!

Great info, thanks Steve. But, for me... headphones are... for notes... no offense. Peace

Sorry, but this vid is bunk. Anyone can just look at the frequency response of Audezes in general, they are garbage, bass frontloaded with treble compensation, I heard both the LCDs 2 and 3 and wouldnt even consider them. Of course, I am in the neutrality camp, so my ideal is flat frequency so that is what I equalize to, if people want to waste hundreds on expensive Beats, great....
