Sigma does make 28mm F1.4 for a long time, it was largely based on their cine range glasses, has been around for years just like 40mm F1.4 and 105mm F1.4. These three primes were the only ART lenses based on Sigma cine lens range. I had mine for the Sony E mount for about two years now. 28mm F1.4 is about 140 gram heavier than this 50mm F1.2 but when I bought it, it cost me about $500. I actually got 28mm and 40mm F1.4 for about $1000 brand new.

But that was built in the day of 40mm F1.4, 105mm F1.4. Sigma 35mm F1.2 is still 100g lighter than the monstrous 40mm F1.4, now that is a little bazooka, 105mm F1.4 that is a little canon.

I tested it on S1H and S5II and for my surprise yello also is there, not so severe, but it is visible. So the problem is on the lens side, because it look bad on S1H and S5II. I tested it on lumix lenses 35mm and 50 mm and no issue on both cameras.

I'm really hoping I can get this for a reasonable price -- the handling alone places it in its own class for this performance. The S Pro and S1R images drew me into the L-Mount in the first instance, and that lens has been on my wishlist for years (lower priority than more practical, less expensive lenses), but even with its gorgeous Leica colours it's difficult to justify against this High Art.

You should do a video comparing Leica sl lenses on the s5 and Lumix lenses on an sl body. I think you had a little thing on instagram but didn't go into a comparison.

The 50mm S Pro is the best. Colors, and sense of volume are fantastic, this Sigma maybe has bigger amount of bokeh but I'm almost sure the 50mm Pro has better colors and better sense of volume. Even the 50mm GM f1.2 is not as good, I have both.

The S Pro is the rival here, I think, it has the Leica colours along with the Panasonic full smooth aperture+AF features. I'm still deciding, but this 1.2 is so flawless and light that it will be difficult to resist at a good price.

“Smallest and lightest 50mm f/1.2 on the market.” If we are restricting ourselves to full frame autofocus lenses the Canon EF (still sold new) 50mm f/1.2 comes to mind immediately as smaller and lighter. If we aren’t restricting ourselves to full frame and autofocus and just going purely by the lens spec there then there are loads of manual focus APS-C 50mm f/1.2 lenses that are significantly smaller and lighter. Seems fairly comparable to other modern mirrorless autofocus full frame lenses. The lens from your sample photos looks gorgeous at f/1.2.

yeah, I think they're clearly not including the EF lens as it's a legacy lens for SLRs. Mirrorless being in a new category, which makes sense to me.

@@jamesjackson4264 Currently this lens is only available with Leica L and Sony E mounts, but you can adapt E mount to Nikon Z mount with auto focus support. I do not own any E len nor an adapter. I also do not believe this lens will be available with Z mount since Nikon makes a 50mm/1.2.

@@jamesjackson4264 Yes, you can get megadp adapter to adapt E mount onto Z mount Nikon, but don't expect those to work as well as native glass and they may not work as well in continuous auto focus mode or for videography. But for the Z mount there will be viltrox Lab F1.2 lenses coming through this year, Viltrox will have 50, 85mm F1.2 in Z and E mounts.
