i got this problem where the drill goes up and down correctly, UNTIL it reaches bedrock and at that point it stops pulling the drill up, its been really frustrating me since i cant figure out why. do you know what the problem is?
@TutorialsByLarry5 ай бұрын
Unfortunately I’ve had this happen to me too. What’s crazy is that sometimes it can hit bedrock and it’s fine though. What I ended up doing was just watching it carefully as the drill drops (I use FreeCam to watch it) and I raise it when it’s around level -50, just to not risk getting trapped in the bedrock. One of my viewers said he was able to solve this by picking up the contraption, raising the place where you originally put the contraption by a couple of blocks, then placing it back down, a few blocks higher than it was. Then you should be able to raise the pulley again.
@Zlyde0074 ай бұрын
is there a part where its getting glued to bedrock?
@TutorialsByLarry4 ай бұрын
@@Zlyde007 I don't think it's actually getting glued to the bedrock, I just think part of the contraption is getting wedged under some pieces of bedrock. One of my viewers had an awesome suggestion, if it gets stuck just pick up the whole mining rig as a contraption, then add a couple of blocks above where it was sitting, then place it back down and it will no longer be stuck because it will be above the bedrock.

I get that, and I think it’s always a challenge to do any automation in Minecraft in a compact design, even with a mod like Create. BUT, this design actually doesn’t have a huge footprint, you could actually go smaller on the width and length. Where it takes up more room is vertically, because of the windmill requirement. But for an automatic digging machine, I think you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more compact design than this.

Any idea why the game might be crashing when doing large numbers of drills? I'm on a friends server and i have an 8x8 setup right now and it seems to crash every time I try to lift it up to wrench it. I also went into a solo world and did a 16x16 and the game freezes for almost a minuite after lifting it. I'm on forge 1.20.1
@TutorialsByLarry14 күн бұрын
Hmmmm I’m not totally sure on that one. Maybe a memory allocation setting on the server needs to be bumped up a little? I always setup my servers with Fabric so I’m not totally sure about anything specific with Forge. Sometimes this could even be another mod that is conflicting with Create.
@reaperskyoki13 күн бұрын
@@TutorialsByLarry Forgot to update my comment, but I actually already figured out the problem. For some reason, the "Zombie Awareness" mod by Corosus was causing it. After disabling that mod the drill worked perfectly fine, even after going to a 32x32 setup I had absolutely no delay when lifting it.
@coryr.92344 ай бұрын
Probably an update since or perhaps because I am using sophisticated storage, but the machine doesn't keep the inventory when picked up. I have to empty it before I move it, else the inventory is voided, which is fine when I am digging for specific materials, but frustrating if I'm digging for a LOT of a specific material.

You know I’ve seen a couple of folks with this exact same problem. 99% of the time this works just fine so I’m not totally sure what’s causing this. Do the Linear Chassis send through rotation? Im confused as to how the drills are being powered
@TutorialsByLarry8 ай бұрын
That's an excellent question. This entire build is a"contraption" and when you bring power to the contraption, mechanical items that are attached, like drills, will automatically get power. The same idea works for mechanical saws and deployers too.
@YayDragons8 ай бұрын
@@TutorialsByLarry Wow. I need to remake a lot of my builds much more simply. How do you make something count as a contraption?
@TutorialsByLarry8 ай бұрын
Basically anything that’s attached to a movement anchor, like a windmill, rope pulley, gantry, mechanical piston, etc. When that movement anchor gets power, it transfers that power to the items attached to it. Not sure if you’ve seen my automatic crop harvester video, but that’s an example of a windmill (a movement anchor) transferring power to the mechanical harvesters attached to it.

I’ve thought about this! I think there might actually be a solution for this but I haven’t tried it yet. The Create Mod has a remote control widget that will let you connect one end to a redstone signal, and you can use the remote to trigger the signal. I bet this would work.

@TutorialsByLarry2 ай бұрын
Yeah I guess I skipped over that part a little bit, sorry about that. Gluing this stuff together can sometimes be a little confusing, too. Basically I just glued all the parts of the contraption together, which would be the speed controller, the gearshift, the windmill chassis (and the gearbox connecting it), the rope pulley, and the first linear chassis that the rope pulley is connected to. Also the minecart contraption. That should be all that you need to glue together.

I'm trying to do this, but with a small cockpit (cobblestone room with a door, 2 double chests, seat, and wireless redstone switch, on top of the chassis, with a line of vertical chassis going up to meet the rope pulley at the back) I built it, tried it, it worked, I got excited and hopped in, thinking it would work again, threw the switch, it ticked a couple times, then destroyed my rope pulley. I don't guess it makes too big a difference, where once I throw the switch, it just brings it all back up to the top, but I thought it'd be cool to dig down to a level and have all the resources to stay down there for a bit, then throw a switch and come back up, but I don't know why it keeps deleting my rope pulley. I checked my glue, took stuff out, put it back, etc. any help is appreciated, I'm new to modded minecraft in general. thanks for the idea!

Wow this sounds awesome! I love the idea of riding the contraption down. It would honestly be the best way to get a birds-eye view as you get to the depth level you want. So, without seeing how you have everything setup I can only throw out some things to look for. The glue is the first thing. I’ve actually had setups where I broke a block but the glue was kinda still working in the space where the block was. Not sure if that’s a feature or a bug but it’s caused me problems. The other thing, check your linear chassis setup. I would make sure the block range on those is exactly where you want them. I hope you get this figured out, sounds like a fantastic build.

Hmmm, not really sure what would cause a lag spike when you pick up the contraption unless it’s an incompatibility with something in your modpack like you suggested. Are you using shaders at all? And are you using Create through Fabric or Forge? There’s a new version of Create Fabric that was just released that seems to fix some issues with shaders but honestly I would suggest making sure all your mods are up to date, including the fabric launcher and fabric API (if you’re using that).
