13:48 I've had an Evertune equipped guitar for a few months now. The main thing I've learned from it is how often I re-tune my other guitars. It's not something you really notice until you never actually have to do it. Even the most stable guitar you have won't stand a chance against an Evertune guitar. Changing strings and tunings isn't super fun, but it's not any harder than doing so on a Floyd Rose bridge. The feel of the tension against the springs can be jarring, but it physically doesn't affect the way the guitar plays. Also, I'm an owner of 13 guitars.

The fella that bought 10 guitars since May, might be my hero. I can't play. Just learning during the Covid. Bought a bass, a uke, the frankintele I'm building and a used Danelectro 59XT. Never played before, but this interweb thingy is awesome for learning. And I really enjoy, and more so appreciate, this channel. I've learned a ton from here. Turned 59 in January, so late to the game. Thanks, Phil. You've been a huge influence for me.

@fooglez 3 жыл бұрын
@@caseylee12 That's sort of the issue, the guitar and neck are almost of equal value (tagima was $160 on black friday). I'd rather just invest that money into something I like. After learning guitar I also learned what I wanted in a guitar. This strat was my gateway drug that made me fall in love. But I personally hate the look of 80% of the wood/paint covered by a pickguard. I also fell in love with the comfort of a Jazzmaster body. On top of that I wanted deeper contour cuts in my body, something I could only achieve by building my own or a custom shop, which is out of the question. My total cost for my partscaster was sub $500 including nitro paint, and any other supplies to build. It's pearl pink jazzcaster body, tele flame maple neck, and a mix of nickel/gold hardware. All of the important parts are wilkinson/vintage forge. The body finish is sub par cause I did a brush on lacquer and it's my first time, but she plays fine.

Hi Phil. I hope you get to read this because it may help you with your Evertune dilemma. Here’s my story. I picked up a super strat style guitar from my local Kijiji here in New Brunswick, Canada. It’s a VGS RoadCruiser w/Evertune. Don’t quote me on this but I believe VGS was the first brand to collaborate with Evertune. All I have to say is that the bridge absolutely MAKES this guitar! I don’t think the previous owner quite “got it” or totally understood how it works. I completely disassemble/reassembled the Evertune bridge, restrung the guitar (with the same gauge strings), tuned it back up... and all of the six saddles remembered the last tuning. All I had to do was adjust the intonation on two or three strings. And just like that...it was back to its original standard E tuning.

I currently have 17. That includes 2 bass guitars and one 4 string cigar box guitar. One bass is at my luthier friend’s house. I left it with him as a favor because it has a warped neck. He wants to use it as a teaching point to show people what to look for when they are buying a used guitar.

Nice work on the 200... I have and have kept it at between 20 to 25 guitars but would like to get the number down to maybe 12 or 15. The amp count could be less as well. Then we got pedals and that has tapered off in the last few months but those numbers could come down too... I feel like a hoarder sometimes but it is what it is. So if I had the room I’d more than likely have a lot more of everything... tools would be the next thing I seem to have an abundance of. Thank you Phil... 🎸🤓🎸🇺🇸☮️

I’ve sold Les Pauls, DC Special, 70’s tribute LP, 594 core, SG’s. The ones that sell are the ones I wish I’d kept. Part-casters are for life.

What other entertainment can I get for 6 months for $200 ($33.33 per month), doing something I absolutely LOVE? It's STILL a bargain!...oh by the way, I've got 19 guitars, and I'm building another one. In January, we moved to a house with 1 more bedroom, so I could have a guitar room. I'm LOVING IT!

A little personal thought on Godin. They're a Quebec company, they make a cheaper acoustic line called seagull, i believe. They had a premium line back in the 80s called Simon and Patrick. I bought one for $500 in 87. That guitar lived with me in tents (I worked in the bush planting trees) in every kind of weather, it would be below freezing at night, and 100F in the afternoon (the sides of mountains heat up a lot). It got wet, it spent nights outside. It also endured a cocaine-addled muaical partner id play music with in the winter. It was, and still is, the best acoustic I've ever played. It's horribly discolored from the abuse, yet the action is beautiful, the tone is amazing, and it stays in tune. So, someone asked about the longevity of Godin? If 80s history is relevant, you cannot go wrong.

My Les Pauls were all bought as tuning nightmares, all of them now are Tuning Dreams…..I Immediately put Kluson Locking tuners on them, a Tusq Nut, and Big Bends nut sauce….my last one I didn’t even put the nut on, just the tuners and sauce, thing is literally a tuning dream….bend it all you want, go crazy….stays right in tune, my other one is the exact same with a tusq nut as well. Les Pauls just need a little help in the tuning department but once you do those 2-3 things, they are absolute beasts. Zero complaints. I also use Ernie Ball Slinky 10s and have really good luck with them….life of them is great, tone is great, they are nice strings to play on…zero complaints and they aren’t too expensive. Zero tuning issues

I bought a brand new "LTD EC-1000FM Evertune" a couple of months ago. After two days, I gave the guitar back because the sustain above the 12th fret was really bad. As far as I know by now, the lack of sustain is because of the Evertune system. Check out a guitar with an equipped Evertune but please don't do it to your Les Paul. =)

If I played guitar in a band, I would get a guitar with an evertune. The idea of never even having to think about tuning while performing would make the experience more relaxing, because it's one less thing that can go wrong. And I've never used Ratio tuners, but man Hipshots are great. I've had stock tuners on a Schecter Omen 6 since I bought it 11 years ago. I put some Hipshot locking tuners on it last week, barely stretched the strings, and I've played it a handful of times since then. The thing is still in tune. I've put Hipshots on guitars before, but that combined with the TOM bridge and Graphtech nut just made it rock solid.

I have 40 guitars, 3 basses and 4 ukuleles, and 1 electric ukulele. Purchase prices (only the electric uke is new @ 115$) started out at under 150$, later crept up to 250$, finally now they're averaging 350$. I used to have upwards of 75, but I had a break in and about 30 was stolen. Most of my _current_ faves are the more expensive ones with a few exceptions (the exceptions are a 35$ 2000 Fender Starcaster S1 and a 120$ 2005 Austin AU-731 Strat). The reason why I have 15 Strat types, 6 Les Pauls, 2 V Types (one a Rhoads and the other a Flying V), 5 Offsets of various types, 1 Genesis type, 2 oddballs (one a 1984 Yamaha SC-300T Beach Banana and the other 2005 Yamaha EGV-103C Flying Samurai reissue), 3 star types (2008 ESP LTD AX-50, 1986 Electra X2RD Futura and a hybrid 85-87 Kramer Voyager HHH with a 1988 Epiphone S-Series neck), a 335-Type semi-hollow body, a hybrid full size p-bass with a Fender neck and a Crate body, a short-scale pj-bass, a 6-string full-sized bass, 2 parlor acoustics (one is a classical type), 3 full size/folk acoustic (one being a dreadnought), 4 acoustic ukuleles (a soprano, 2 concerts and a tenor), an electric tenor ukulele and will be acquiring a Telecaster soon, is that each instruments mostly offers an unique sound to my tonal pallette. A few actually serves as street burgers...oh damn got sidetracked by ye talking about burgers. Anyway a few serves as my street beaters, where my more expensive (or at least more irreplaceable) guitars stays safely at home. EDIT: NO to 550$US on a MIM Strat, that's way to high...even by Hawai'i standards. Here the average high WAS 400-450. For the last year prices surged initially to 600s, but those ads stayed up for very long time. I've asked around and found out that those that sold often got haggled down to the 400-450s range. EDIT2: Cool Ibanez RG565, I have a 1989 Ibanez RG565R-CA, which is the Ibanez preproduction spot model that was made before they started regular production RG565 the next year. I actually prefer my 565R over the regular production 565(no "R") because it has sharktooth inlays and mahogany fretboard and jumbo frets.

12.5 LOL! I grew up poorer than most people who can read or have internet would be able to imagine. I’ve lived less than paycheck to paycheck most of my life, and I never turned to (too much )crime. However… I have a room with 12.5 on each wall. 12.5 around the room, 12.5 under the bed, in the closet, in the back room, at the practice space, lent out to friends, extras in the attic, one in the bathroom, a couple in the kitchen, a sitar at the front door…. And don’t forget the ukes, banjos, banjoleles, basses, bass ukes, mandolins, cello, organs, piano, accordions, pipes, winds, brasss, percussions, drums, synths, Theremini, keyboards… it all started so innocently: people were impressed with my little hand-me-down Peavey or Squier guitar, so they’d give me whatever guitar they had laying around. Then I got addicted to Craigslist Free List. Now I have guitars in the car trunk that I’m waiting to sneak inside while my girl’s not looking. Sneak them in to a closet where they can hide til I think of a plausible, sane excuse to introduce them to the house

I have 13 guitars and basses total. During lockdown(I've been basically stuck inside since last March)I bought a new Rickenbacker bass and an old tenor guitar. And a Spark. I have access to a 76 Fender Precision bass. My husband is a luthier, so he has a bunch of guitars, too.

Except for an older Gibson LP, I've mostly bought basket case (but cool) guitars to hone my luthier skills. But now I have 12 minus a 335 & 54' Epiphone that are undergoing restoration.

I only have 6 guitars and one bass, so I only have a mild case of GAS.

I actually thinned out my collection - right now I have 3 electrics, two basses, and an acoustic. One of those is new (used): a Jackson Minion RR, because it was inexpensive and makes me smile.

Put an Evertune in a Strat and play Sweet Home Alabama or Sultans of Swing. If it doesn't screw that tone up it will be good anywhere.

--- @19:48 The Average KYG Viewers Owns 12.5 Guitars? I added up your comments --- Today... I have 16 guitars, but I'm also a designer. So if I see a guitar I like I might just buy it, paint it & mod it. Most often these guitars unfortunately ends up NOT beeing used :/

Congrats on your successful, enjoyable, and very helpful channel. 32 guitars here, 23 that get played, 9 that are wall art for my studio lounge. Very interesting statistic on guitars owned. I'd like to see the relationship between # guitars owned and marital status.

New MIM Player Strats are $749 now so $500 is a pretty good deal on a used Player and even old MIM Standards are closing in on that price. I think the days of the $250 use MIM Strat are gone now.
