I was recruited from a boat dealer into yacht insurance. Had no idea about the career field but a recruiter messaged me on linkedin and asked if I'd be interested. The company was looking for someone with boat knowledge and would teach insurance. 7 years later I'm still a yacht underwriter.

No... not a kid. And yes, I did get to be a pilot and have had a pretty diverse career. That said, this somewhat mysterious subject of insurance has always fascinated me. Wish I could learn more about it...

I have a pilot license with an instrument rating. Additionally, I have 15 years experience as a claims adjuster (personal lines) and 5 years work experience at FBO’s as a line tech. I have an AIC designation and I am currently working on my CPCU. I would like to get into aviation underwriting for aircraft and/or aircraft facilities. Where would you recommend I begin my search? Thanks!

I recommend googling which carriers and MGAs do aviation and start applying! Incluye the fact that you’re a licensed pilot all the way to instrument rating.

I am currently pursuing my private pilot's license and I work in auto insurance as a claims representative. I do want to get into the aviation side of insurance but can never seem to find a way to break in. Any suggestions?
