The GBA games get a lot of praise for their animation but honestly I think Fates and Echoes need just as much in that regard. Corrin's dragon fang critical, dual wielding swordmasters, ninjas and adventurers being conveyed as graceful and strong, and dread fighters. There is a lot to appreciate about these games aesthetically now that the dust has settled

Though it doesn’t have the flashiest animations, I do like watching the Mechanist attack mostly because of the absolute bonkers of a concept it has. Definitely a class I’d wanna see come back with some reworked skills and stats, though I know that unlikely because of how different a lot of Hoshido’s classes were from the norm.

Fates in my opinion has the best combat animations in the series, gba animations are good but there it’s mainly just the crits but in fates every attack feels like it’s got some power behind it which is added by the best hit and crit sound effects.

I dunno. These are good, but then you have the other scroll animations which are just kinda... blech. Especially the Basara scroll animation. That animation just looks really stiff. I think Fates, just like everything else, is the most polarizing. Where it does well, it does pretty good at. But where it does bad, ... (shudders).

If there’s one thing I loved about Fates, it’s how over the top, yet badass many battles animations are. The jumps of the backflip and 360 no scope of Adventurer and Sniper respectively, the Hero’s “throw the sword up and catch it into a reverse grip uppercut”, the Paladin’s sword animation of the “jump, slam down, into an uppercut”. And it’s one thing I wish Three Houses had, especially when they’ve removed a lot of offence skills (and left some as combat arts). And sometimes even including the mount like the Wyvern Lord tail slap is just amazing. In a game like Three Houses where it’s really easy to procc a critical, I personally wish the crit and confirmed kill animations were extravagant

Butler. The best overall job class in terms of animation. And of course, talking about Butler isn't complete without mentioning Jakob. The dude got everything. He got drip, got moves, got skills, got looks, and sassy tongue to match. All that on top of being in the most stylish job class in the series, the dude stacked! Second best in the game would be Snipers. Pretty simple action, but fluid and smooth with swagger to boot. What's not to love? Merchant the worst though, I mean, what the hell is that barrel roll!?

Despite it flaws, Conquest will be always my favourite FE game in terms of gameplay (we will have to see what happens with Engage). It's sad that the story was written so poorly. We know FE can have great storylines, you just have to play games like Holy War, Binding Blade or 3H. I don't know why the do sometimes this interesting choices. Also Ophelia (Elise) it's a god

i looove seeing fellow appreciation of the fates combat animations. so much flavour and contribution to making the classes really FEEL different from one another, especially for hoshido vs. nohr you included some of my faves already (sorcerer tome crit, adventurer finishing blow, and wyvern-lord melee axe crit--the weight behind that tail slap!). i recall also really liking the great-master melee naginata crit, the ground-unit tomahawk finishing blow (i think? it's where they spin before releasing), the kinshi-knight bow crit, the general's melee lance/naginata crit (AKA the shield shove attack), and the hero's melee sword/katana crit (i love when the animation can really sell the heaviness of the weapon). i also find the base mechanist and butler/maid ranged attacks really satisfying, and think they do a great job at selling the fantasy of their respective classes as actual professions within the game's world would love to see a second installment!

Man, I loved Fates’ animations so much. Some of my favorites besides these are the Kitsune attack, Dread Fighter ranged critical, and the Priestess curtesy. Just want to ask, how’d you record all of these? These clips are really good quality. Also, I’d prefer if you don’t fast forward these animations, let them play at normal speed (unless it’s astra crits lol)

i freaking love the tome crit where they just fly in the sky for what i assume is to gather energy or something. it just looks cool. i do want to know though why azura isn't a dancer? also nice to know who you pair odin with i usually go for selena because i love there support but elise is a good option too and probably better for gameplay but that's besides the point. i kinda went of topic but oh well i just like seeing other peoples child units because i'm always curious who they paired with who.

​@@BenFM oh i like class changing too but i almost never do it for azura unless i play a reclass run. i just really like having a dancer so i only change her class to get skills. it's just my preference though and i have tried kinshi knight azura a few times she's pretty great but i still avoid enemies as much as possible since she dies so easily but you should try witch azura she is honestly amazing early game and mid game and probably the only good mage in early rev unless you want to use hayato or reclass sakura or felicia. i tried it as a joke at first but it was very good . she still came handy late game but ophelia and especially rhajat outshine her. elise or sakura are better as well and a trained nyx does more damage but misses a lot more.

Fates's animations were the closest to matching the punchiness and flashiness of the GBA animations. Some of them are a little goofy with just how over the top they are imo (Master Ninja with how much it zoop zip vanishes all over the place, Onmyoji doing its thing casting spells, and some of Corrin's classes' animations), but I really love them overall. So much so that Fates is the one game I'll keep battle animations on for a time during repeat playthrpughs just to see them again.

Limited weapon ranks are both annoying and border on inconsequential. With the drawbacks that Silver/Brave provide, sticking to Killer forever is frankly fine

Even after so many games in the series, conquest is still my favorite. Story is ass ya, but the gameplay was fantastic.

I personally think most look cooler at high speeds but I'll take that into account when I do stuff like this in the future. There are full uploads on youtube of all the animations shown in normal speed

Not only the animations, the battle quotes as well. Corrin's "Sorry" not sorry, Arthur, Niles, Nyx, Odin & Ophelia... A lot of characters in those games had over the top one-liners and I love it

I fucking love fates bro I love nearly everything about it the characters I love. But you know what I hate about it. The story what the hell happened? Does anyone know if the fates devs got interviewed? because I want to know how the hell the story became so ass. It makes me sad bro that fates story is ass. because I really love the characters a tad bit more than awakenings tbh the concept of two of your families fighting each other is cool but executed so poorly :(

@@BenFM also i think corrin and their daughter/son Kana are the only fire emblem humans( That aren't dragons that look like humans like tiki and nowi) to be part dragon thus can turn into dragons using a dragonstone that i know of (Correct me if i am wrong ben.)
