The narrator was Boris Karloff, aka Frankenstein's monster and the singer with the incredibly deep voice was Thurl Ravenscroft, who was also the original voice of Tony the Tiger and narrates the old Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland.

Wow! We knew about Boris Karloff but we didn't know about Thurl Ravenscroft! Thank you for the fun facts!

@@theawkwardsquadreviews5636 He did a version of the Headless Horseman song too that's pretty good (youtube title: "Disney's Headless Horseman as sung by Thurl Ravencroft"), Bing Crosby sang it for the actual movie version though. As a kid, we had a Disney vinyl record of the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack for some reason and on the flip side there was a whole bunch of regular non-disney songs, mostly sea shanties, sung by Thurl Ravenscroft, so that's how I became a fan, his voice is just crazy deep. Some of those Thurl Ravenscroft songs are on youtube now, like "Asleep in the Deep", "Thurl Ravenscroft-Life On The Ocean Waves" or "Thurl Ravenscroft-A Capital Ship" and a few others by the quartet group he was in "The Mellomen", which also did some songs for Disney as well.

The guy who sings "You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch" is Thurl Ravenscroft who voiced Tony the Tiger on the Kelloggs Frosties/Frosted Flakes commericals from the 50's up until his death in 2005. He also was a bass singer in the choruses The Mellowmen who sung a lot of songs for classic Disney films such as Alice in Wonderland and Lady and the Tramp. He also voiced some Disney characters including Monstro the Whale in Pinocchio, Sir Bart in The Sword in the Stone, One of the Painter Cards in Alice in Wonderland, Al the Aligator in Lady and the Tramp, Captain the Horse in One Hundred and One Dalmatians, the title character in Disney short Paul Bunyan and Kirby the Vacuum Cleaner in The Brave Little Toaster movies.

The Grinch was OK. Dr Seuss was a good story teller. But my favorite will always be charlie brown Christmas. I love the part where Linus explains what Christmas is all about.

How did you like Boris Karloff?
@theawkwardsquadreviews56363 жыл бұрын
Hi! We really liked Boris Karloff's portrayal of the Grinch in this TV special. He set the bar for Jim Carrey and Benedict Cumberbatch's portrayals of the Grinch in the future, and he set the bar pretty high! We discuss this a little bit in our "Comparing All of the Grinch Movies!" video. If you would like to see our thoughts on this topic and some other interesting comparisons between this TV special and the 2000 and 2018 Grinch movies, you can check those out there! Thank you for watching!
