clearly you under-appreciate the masterful cinematic techniques being flexed here. much like the decision to not show the shark until the VERY end of the movie Jaws, the cinematic choice to not show the rapid succession volley of head-shots that inevitably followed builds suspense and leaves the horror to be created in the mind of the audience. it is a masterful trick of classic cinema. Beth is clearly just channeling her inner Alfred Hitchcock.
