For me, it depends on the song. This song is maybe a push between the 2 versions, the guitar being better in the Beatles version but the vocals being better here, except Fred at the end.

It's funny how well this song works for the B-52's... The interweaving vocal lines, the signature guitar theme, all very B-52ish. And of course some shouting vocals from Fred at the end. This is a very good cover!

Yes saw that tour, Rock Lobster was the hit, but they started with Planet Claire, really long introduction with the Peter Gunn lick, very cool and fun. This was Berklee School, Boston.

@@alanstrom2221 Actually, Paul doesn't play any chords on the bass in Paperback Writer. Lots of melodic notes but no chords. And as others have pointed out; in Paperback Writer, there are just the two - G7 and C. Come to think of it, I'm struggling to think of any Beatle song where Paul plays a bass chord.

Yes, John Lennon was in a Mew York nightclub when he heard ROCK LOBSTER, he was very impressed to say the least and asked people who it was. He loved The B-52s.
