Lauren Zima is back with Roses and Rose to recap episode 4 of Matt James’ season of The Bachelor! Tensions are high in the house as five new women join the group, but do the so-called OGs have a right to say anything? While the ladies fight for time with Matt, a fresh villain emerges in Anna as she spreads a rumor about contestant Brittany. I think that's why I was so disappointed with Lauren in this, as a woman who has a significant amount of influence and could speak up about these things I would like to see her do so, not just ignore it and feed the drama. Especially how the past few years there has been such an encouragement for women supporting women.

Let me start by saying im a longtime fan of lauren, her recaps, and Chris harrison. I have loved watching roses and rose for years, but im super disappointed in all of it right now. ET and ABC should have either not aired this, or had a HEALTHY disclaimer that they were FAKE FREAKIN RUMORS. this isn't ok, and everyone involved right down to Chris harrison, are responsible for any damages to Brittanys reputation or career, not to mention perpetuating the stigma that women get for this type of choice. This could have been handled so much better than just tossing a woman to the wolves and not acting like Victoria and annas behavior this entire season hasn't been disgusting. This season, more than any other I can remember watching, is so toxic. The way the self proclaimed OG group is acting together clouds my ability to like any of them or see any of them ending up with Matt. Except for Katie, not one of them has spoken up or defended anyone who is being bullied or treated poorly. It's not enough for these girls to just be nice, and their complacency is starting to make me dislike almost all of them.

Not that there's any logic to the toxicity of this season; however, I personally find it doesn't make sense for the "OG Women" to be so nasty to the 5 newcomers. Just like the OGs, The Five auditioned, were selected, quarantined, but were also told to wait an additional amount of time for a chance to find a connection with MJ. Yes, some of the OG women formed deeper connections and many of them had hardly any time at all with MJ. Yet, to be clear, The Five were also waiting alone in quarantine for time, with no guarantees, with Matt. The OG Women did nothing special to be selected to start from Day 1, so they have no right to think themselves better or more deserving of a chance. Yes, some of The Five were very forward and outspokenly confident when they showed up, but this was their Night 1 and they did what any other contestants who wanted to "stand out in a big way" would do. I see no difference and I see no reason for the entitlement. If the OGs were in the same position as The Five, I am sure they would feel and behave similarly. TL;DR get over it girls.

@@texasseastar while I agree producers of this show historically have stoked and directed drama and have edited situations and clips in a way that depicts storylines whichever way helps ratings, at the end of the day, this show is unscripted in that the contestants aren’t following a literal script of what to say (at least I don’t think they are). What’s being said is so nasty and toxic and the producers are still using it to gain ratings. I completely agree with you, it makes it icky and I don’t really want to watch anymore if it’s going to stay like this.

The could have and should have done better, especially because it was their first Bachelor of color. I had quit watching the main shows when they cast Colton, didn’t watch Hannah’s season, also skipped pilot Pete. Happy that I did based on the social media I saw. I’ve only been watching BiP, which is why I was excited for Tayshia’s season. Even with that , I could have done without the drama of the Harvard guy and the traveling nurse. It is totally unnecessary to have villains on these shows.

Hated the boxing date, didn't lke seeing Jessinia & Serena P get punched in their little faces. I don’t think it’s ok to be so dismissive of Victoria’s behavior, and say that you don’t get fired up about it because it’s so ridiculous. Yes it is ridiculous, which why it needs to be called out and stopped. Not doing so is giving her a pass on bullying and ultimately doing nothing is complicity. Clearly this is a person who feels entitled to act in such an immature and mean way and not calling it out for what it is, or downplaying the viciousness of it because it’s so extreme and over the top is not ok.
