I feel like backrooms is better with no, or at least more ambiguous monsters. The ones people have added to the lore don't really do much for it, when they aren't dampening the experience. I do think monsters could be cool for it, but later on, and maybe as less of a direct force, maybe not even as a threat players see most of the time.

Well, the entities are scarier in the higher levels like level 2 or level 8 and even then, the people didn't even get the greenlight to add monsters in level 0 so these aren't Canon, also in level 1 there is supposed to be a big base of survivors

The backrooms were way scarier without the monsters. Just the idea of neverending and seemingly changing hallways that slowly cause you to go insane is terrifying. Edit: Because this comment has surprisingly become the top comment on this video, I wanted to put one of my replies in the main comment because what I originally put sounds kind of harsh towards these game creators. I feel like people want to be a part of it (the backrooms lore/community), and that's perfectly fine. I always encourage people to try and be creative and make something their own! The issue is that it feels like people are treating certain depictions of the backrooms as if only those versions matter instead of seeing them as one person's version of the backrooms. The cool thing about stuff like the backrooms is that, by itself, it's already terrifying, but it is so simple, that people can easily make their own versions. But it feels like some of the people who make these kind of Roblox games aren't taking advantage of the original backrooms concept in order to make something new and interesting.

The possibility of a faceless and unknown danger is way more terrifying than something that you can see and perceive, simply because your mind will come up with a thousand possibilities and all of them could be wrong, and therefore, you will be expecting something worse than what you could possibly imagine and that alone is way scarier.

Like imagine getting to the point of mental breakdown where you are convinced that you heard something even though you haven't seen anything at all literally the whole time you've been wandering the halls! Not seeing any monsters and leaving it up to the individual's imagination is what makes psychological horror so effective.

I feel like people are treating the Backrooms more like a place than an anomaly itself. Finding an exit shouldn't be as simple as getting from point A to point B in a maze. The Backrooms' premise is that it exists outside of the natural laws of the world, hence the only way of getting there at all is by no-clipping, so I think it'd be something that seriously messes with your perception and cognition with things like hallways that loop around in ways that would be impossible, segments that are much longer or shorter than they appear to be, or trying to retrace your steps by going back the way you came leading to something completely different. As you get to deeper levels, the visual anomalies can get more personal, like seeing friends and family where you know they can't possibly exist, seeing your fears or things from your past that are inherently disturbing to you, and things that are exclusive to you where even if you're trapped with someone else they can't see what you see and vice versa. Audio anomalies can also enhance the experience, like footsteps or whispers coming from places that would otherwise be impossible or faint recognizable voices with no real source. The exit should almost feel like it was found completely by accident, or in later levels it could feel like you only found the exit because something _wanted_ you to find it when it decided you should.

@@johnnycripplestar5167 I mean it's unoriginal. Not saying that the layout is lame or boring, it'd be saying that almost all games are the same but different sprites and models. Take DarkWood for example : - It gives you the option to FIGHT back, discover the mystery by yourself instead of mandatory path which you need to take. (Of course there is a path that you need to go for endings, but it's lesser strict or typically simple like the others.)
