A more charitable take on Crosshair shooting Tawni is he's trying to save Cody from the consequences of disobeying an order
@shugaroony7 ай бұрын
I fully believe thats what he does here, especially seeing how things go later with him.

During the negotiation between Cody and the Governor, just picture Cody as Obi Wan. Every single one of his lines could have easily come straight from his old general. It really shows how much Obi Wan lives on in Cody after going in exile

Yep Cody is a long way from Obi-Wan Kenobi now under all this. At least he got out before sinking further into all this. Crosshair though...

Everyone assumes it's a slave colony at the start instead of just a normal farming colony on a harsh planet. The clones who refused to sit with him were far from being petty. Crosshair has always despised and hated regular clones and considered them beneath him, the term "reg" has always been a slur in his mouth. He's also a sociopath. That's not the sort of person you voluntarily sit with. Cody was already thinking about deserting at the start and was probing Crosshair to see if he could be trusted. Crosshair made it pretty plain that he could not.

Hey, Jazmin! A Crosshair episode! Dude waited a month on Kamino for a pick-up! That dedication deserves a promotion! Defense Recruitment Bill is a step-up in conscription of non-clones. The Geonosis Memorial becomes a touchstone for the episode. Commander Cody guest stars! The planet is just a rustic backwater. The people weren't oppressed. Separatist Governor Tawni Ames is played by the velvety-voiced Tasia Valenza who normally does Shaak Ti. Mina Bonteri name drop. Dooku's rhetoric rang true for the Separatists because he was telling everyone the truth while secretly colluding with Palpatine. To the rank and file, Dooku's legacy is that of prophet and martyr. Cool role reversal in that you root for the droids! Two magnificent shots by Crosshair: one down the tank turret and the other reflected off a flying puck! He almost could have accomplished the mission single-handedly but for a lethal knife-work assist by Cody. Cody crosses his Rubicon and deserts the Empire. According to Rampart, it's not isolated. Last season, Howzer on Ryloth rebelled. This season, Wilco and Cody. When Jedi aren't the focus, Order 66 leaves the clones autonomous enough to be ambivalent. Crosshair feels more and more alone.

What's fascinating about watching the progression of the clones over the years is that you do start to think of them as individuals - and you should! We get to see different clones hit different breaking points - Cody obviously just hit his (assuming Rampart wasn't being... euphemistic... but I hope Cody didn't suffer Wilco's fate), the Batch hit theirs way back, Crosshair is possibly (finally!) putting a foot on the path... I genuinely feel sorry for those people who write off the animated shows as childish, because while they are child-friendly (and there's actually nothing wrong with that) there's nothing 'kiddie' about the stories being told here.

A few things i want to add. Codys breaking point was after the battle. The governor’s corpse was hanging there. The ship only had 3 clones left. 30 new Stromtroopers arrive and he is leaving. He knows its over. And crosshair had nowhere to go. Remember season one yes he has a chip but the bad batch NEVER TRIED RESCUING HIM sure they tell him he is welcome but they never do more. They litterally hunted wrecker to remove his chip. they dont love crosshair he doesnt feel save with them and i understand that.

13:20 I think what Cody says is yet another thing that he (Crosshair) needed to hear 🤔🥺😣😔. Because the other ones from season 1 were: (Hunter) "All you'll ever be to them, is a number" 😞; (Wrecker) "All that time, you didn't even try to find us. 😠😡 We still would've taken you 😔"; and (Omega) "You're still their brother Crosshair. You're my brother too 🥺". There may have most likely been more that he heard from them and/or other people 🤔😓.

Crosshair never really believed in the Empire, he's serving them because being soldier is the only life he has ever known and he was born to serve the Republic/Empire, he couldn't care less about the politics.

Great episode. Love the reversal they did here, as in TCW we follow Cody, Obi-Wan, Anakin, Rex and that Togruta girl - can never remember her name! ;) Taking on droids to save the day. Here the droids are on the side of good, and Cody, Crosshair and the other clones are now with the Empire. They even do a zoom shot in on Cody as he's briefing the mission on the gunship - they did the same in the Bad Batch arc in TCW to mirror that; nice touch. Though Crosshair killing the separatist leader seems cold, I think he's saving Cody's life as he can see the conflict within him when given the order to execute someone who has surrendered. If Cody didn't follow through, then thats insubordination and he'd face a firing squad; so Crosshair kills her off instead (good soldiers follow orders and all that). We also see the changing of the guard, with the injured clones leaving after doing the job, and the stormtroopers coming in to occupy. I've never liked Cody. How quickly he shot at Obi-Wan in ROTS has always biased me against him. Even seeing him in Clone Wars with Rex and co, I never bonded with him. Seeing him here though express regrets where we can almost tell he's thinking about what he did to Obi-Wan and thinking he killed him, warms me to him slightly however. Cody then gets out. Crosshair is ready to take on another soulless mission with dire consequences for good people no doubt, on his own. He's a long way from his brothers now.

How the tide has turned. It seems everything Pappy Palpy touches turned to poop… 😁 Seriously tho, I, too, am wondering where Cody has gone. Will he meet up with our 99’s? Will he search out a group of other deserters or will he vanish and go get an alternate life like Cut did with his farm and little family? Will Crosshair stop to think about the affect his brutal following of orders s having on the apparently far more rational clones around him?

I like your clone wars knowledge, I’ve watched them all once but I don’t remember details like you do. You usually point something out I’ve missed like this episode I missed the Mina detail so thanks

TCW know well do you? I think Cody will be seen again in the Coruscant episode where Rex is going to send TBB on a mission. Cody knows about all the underground hide outs in Coruscant and could hide for years but some how Rex is contacted and he contacts TBB on a rescue mission similar to Gregor in season 1. Jasmine you called the Cody and Crosshair before the episode started, I am impressed, 'instincts good you have'.

Hey ATF! Great reaction vid as always. I think the people on the planet were just poor. I don't think they were slaves. If they were enslaved, I think they would have been happy to see the Empire arrive.(viewing the empire as liberators.) Anyways, feel better soon.😷 Cya on the next vid. 🙂

The way Crosshair answered saying traitors like the Jedi is basically indicating to Cody that he’s too serious & not allowing to think for himself. The fact that he said that is wrong to Cody because that’s their brothers. They had served & fought with them just like every other clones only to be “traitor” for questioning their orders. After Cody saw Crosshair executed her. It’s clear to Cody that he’s too far gone. Either Cody deserted or possibly murdered just cuz the governor saw him not complying with his order. Like any good educated person, if you knew you’re company is making the wrong decisions. You resign cuz it’s not for the people anymore. The only thing the microchip does is meant for the Jedi. Nothing more.

I think Crosshair is also trying to buy himself into the lie about the clones and the Jedi being traitors; to feel that he can see things clearer and is going to be part of something meaningful. He's not seen yet how expendable he is to the Empire.
