Getting 3.2 0-60 out of single motor is such an excellent engineering compromise. The build is so clean, its still RWD, weight distribution perfect and rear seats still in place. One practical hyper performance sleeper.

I’ve been driving my 1302 for 41 years now and it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. Now that I’m old and retired I’m a little over the noise and smells. What you have done and archived with your beetle is just mind blowing, it’s a credit to your hard work and engineering skills. Well done on an amazing car/build. I know you will enjoy your beetle for as long as I have with mine. I also know what I would do to my beetle if I could. Great video thanks.

I first saw your fantastic Electric Beetle in Feb 2018. This inspired me to have my '71 Beetle converted, and using the Netgain Hyper 9 (120 HP) Motor, powered by Tesla Model S Batteries My deep frustration has been, that my Beetle has been completed last June 2020. Beetle was converted by EV Traction Brisbane Australia. But I have been stranded 12,500 miles away, in the UK due to Covid restrictions for the last 255 days!! Boo Hoo Hoo! Can't wait to get back home and drive it! Moggy, a great job, and proves that the old Beetles are timeless works of art.

That is an amazing accomplishment to re-engine a gas powered beetle with a Tesla motor and battery pack. It looks brand new, right off of a factory floor! My first new car was a 73 "Sky Blue" beetle purchased in Maywood, New Jersey. Drove it for 11 years, but after swallowing a valve on the 3rd cylinder for the 2nd time, I sold it to a car restorer. Still have occasional dreams of driving it.

What an incredible car! It sure beat my 1966 VW 1300, just be careful because that body has no safety built in. I was in a rollover accident, the doors the the doors popped open and the windshield A pillars collapsed just from the weight of the gasoline powered car. The rear engine cars spun around easily, a problem you won’t have because of your front and rear weight distribution.

To be fair, there are people taking Fox-body Mustangs, replacing the K-member to mount Chevy LS engines, and back-halving the car for monster-wide tires, then tying it all together with a roll cage... and they are still called Mustangs. In fact, I've never seen someone modify a car to the point that the model name disappeared from the car's title...

@@ElectricClassicCars I agree about the non power assisted steering. I had a SAAB 96 on which the steering was fairly heavy but it was a good warning, if it suddenly lightened up significantly then the road surface conditions had become a bit iffy and you needed to steer and brake carefully.

I like this so much! If I could find the money, I would ask you to build an ECC '1303' for me with just one difference... more ground clearance all round. I know this might affect the handling on bends, but it would be completely usable on modern roads with speed bumps, etc. So much fun...

I had a very similar looking silver Beetle with a twin port 1835cc in it with a lightened flywheel, Webers, mechanical dizzy etc, etc. Pulled up at the lights next to another Beetle and was left in it's dust. We pulled over up the road and he showed me the bridge ported rotary he had in his. I'd love to see his face if he came up against this :).
