Hey Scott just watched one of your older videos for about the 50th time last week I picked up two Jaguars male and female female about 8 in is mail about 12in beautiful fish can't wait to see if I can get them to breed I put them in a tank with a divider for a little while just to make sure everything is good and I also picked up what I consider a rescue fish guy had a 13 in Novi I don't think he was taking real good care of it so I got it from him for free he is absolutely the most gorgeous beautifulest fish I have in my collection right now I am getting him back to full health by making sure he has nice clean water all the time and plenty of good food to eat he is breathtaking thanks for all the advice on keeping these massive cichlids which I absolutely love and see you soon

Nice looking fish and footage! Many years ago, I had a CA/SA tank with a Jaguar, Pike, and Red Devil. The biggest mistake I ever made was giving them live feeder fish. Needless to say, they all eventually got sick. What a fool I was back then. Keep up the great work 👍.

Why would you keep a dovii in a 125g when they can get at least 2ft in length a 125 is only 18" wide? I love ur channel I've watched king and queen cichlids for a long time now and I'm a subscriber but I cant sit here and hear you say a 125 can house a dovii long term. Maybe if you stunt its growth but I have a dovii in a 300g and i almost feel itll be to small when he reaches full length... I love you I really do but dovii can get pretty massive
@ScottMclaughlinJ5 жыл бұрын
I totally agree. I have 2 Dovii each have their own 150 and 180 gallon tank. They are not full grown yet but I know they will be moved to a 220 (s) soon. My point was to make clear that the Dovii and Jaguars are gonna need at minimum a 6 foot tank. I’m glad you made a comment with this info. I do agree with you. Ty for watching
@donniewhite13994 жыл бұрын
@@ScottMclaughlinJ a 125 gallon is sufficient for 1 or 2 Dovii. Sure they won't get 24-30 inches but they'll get 18+, which is big enough that nothing is going in there with them. I've got a Dovii by himself in a 75 gallon & he's already around 14 inches at 2 years old. I've got a Managuensee by himself in a 90 gallon & he's maxed out his growth at around 16 inches. He's 9 years old. I've got a lot of filtration and current in the tanks that Beef em up pretty quick and they only allow in the tank what the area gives them. They each got a big slate bottom log in the middle of the tank and 1 decent size suction log that they sleep under and that's all they want. If I put anything else in there, they tear it up and send it to the top. Can't put any other fish with em or they'll kill em quick. My Managuensee is the worst. Kill anything I put in there. Even tried putting a 28 inch pleco in with him and by the time I mowed my grass "30 or 40 minutes" he almost killed it. I've got 8 tanks and sometimes you havta work with what the area you've got.

Didn't the powers that be recently group the motaguensis in the pot with freddy and loisellei under the name parachromis multifaciatus? I heard of this at OCA extravaganza 2019.

The videos keep getting better; great job Scott. I again never never kept large cichlids but watching your videos has me thinking about it more and more. I was surprised at the size difference between male and female with the Jaguar and the tigers. Are the ones in your video just younger or do the females in those species stay proportionaly smaller?

yess thx you said wat i always say to stores here in the netherlands and the all say the cant do without live, i breeded mana's and i hade my tank in a combo of a pair mana, a pair mota and a pair wat they (in my eyes false name Green terror)aquendis revulatis that was my fixed tank, only my managuensis trarted setinng egs, i needed to transfer my motas and my green acaras the bottem tank. it was never my ideato start breeding, butt i got befrended with a petstore owner specialized in middle amerika and he said that i hade one of the best looking couples he seen as combo he ask if would breed for his store and well i did not make rich, butt i was costeffective he paid me good prize on a fixes number off fish and the target! I loved them and i will not find a couple like here in holland easy, and they first was luck
