The Badland's Paleosols

Here we go! Another video is presented on the Badlands' geology! After attending a tour hosted by Mattison, she pointed out something that really stood out to me. She mentioned a term called "Paleosols." If you break down the Latin roots, it translates to 'older soils." As mentioned before, this sediment dates back 30-40 million years ago!
The reason Mattison pointed out the paleosols was due to the rain. Shortly after the drizzle, you can notice how there are distinct layers. Therefore, the rain shows you the bands and stripes! It was neat to witness as the stripes usually stand out a bit more when the sediment is wet.
Here are the formations as followed from top to bottom:
1. Sharps Formation
2. Rockyford Ash
3. Brule Formation (where you can find the reddish brown stripes)
4. Chadron Formation (not visible in video)
5. Yellow Mounds (not visible in video)
