In my humble opinion, The fruitcake they produce is the best in the world. Its like every cake is made by caring hands and each one is beautifully unique.

@susangunn885 Thats odd. The cakes we received this week had more nuts than last year and less raisins but still the best fruitcake in my opinion. Perhaps contacting them and letting them know may help. _Have a happy new year !!!!_

Its a very solid fruitcake but i know of 2-3 others that are in my opinion better

I just went and ordered some lemon cookies and can't wait to sample some heavenly sweets. Thank you, brothers, for all you do for the world, when the world is clueless. It does make sense to pray, work, pray more, work some more... sounds actually more appealing every time I hear it.

It is regrettable and even shameful how the neo-Gothic abbey church was destroyed to give rise to a gallery. It is understood why before the Council there were more than 160 young monks and after the council did not arrive vocations and only remain sad old men, also the liturgy was demolished.

Yes. His name in religion was Fr Louis, so if you look for his grave there, it will be Fr Louis, not Thomas Merton. Also, there is a bookshop in Bardstown that has all of Merton's books.

@@darooster5787 monks take vows of poverty,Chastity, and obedience. Poverty does not mean no money at all. Living is not free. Electricity water. Taxes And bills. Non of them are free. They have to pay the bills. What would you suggest they do When they get a bill?

Their motto is Ora et Labora --- Prayer and Work. The money pays the bills, and also makes it possible for everyday people to make retreats there.
